Want less distraction ask for room overseeing the bar, no lights and sounds from the expressway.
Love the bed, Kingsize was very comfortable and the comfortable and sheets are great. The pillows are soft and do not lose their support.
Check in a breeze and they give you water and a warm cookie.
Lots of choices of restaurants nearby.
Shuttle service is available.
About 5 miles from downtown but easy to get to.
Use Anderson lane and Lamar to go to and come from downtown, avoid the expressways.
Thursday I called down from my room on check out date around 10:30am and said can you please verify our food and beverage credit has been applied and check us out. The girl said no problem. I didn't receive a receipt in my email like normal and was in a meeting room anyway so around 2pm went to the front desk and asked for a copy of my receipt and of course the credit was not applied.
I spoke to the guy that appeared to be in charge that had also promised me points the day before and he said he would take care of it and I trusted he would but it appears he never did because whomever ran audit that night charged my credit card $24.
I should not have been charged anything as we had a $30 daily credit and spent $21 each day.
I ended up having to call the diamond desk this morning and waste 20 more minutes because the hotel staff are not capable of fixing this after two requests, so why would I call them again so now the hotel will likely get a $200 charge from Hilton for me creating a case against them.
I should also address the blatant money grab this hotel is doing by charging for parking. This is not a location where you can justify charging for parking. I get it in downtown areas, beach areas, etc but this location is not a place this applies. DO NOT book here if you want to have a good experience. I should warn groups against hosting events here also do to the parking charges for people to attend your event.
1) There is a fee for parking. This hotel is located well outside of downtown surrounded by apartments, business complexes and residential neighborhoods - there is a deluge of empty parking lots, yet this already overpriced hotel chooses to gouge its customers by forcing them to pay $10. This is not included in the charge for the room and must be paid separately via QR code. I wonder where that money goes.
2) The hotel is disgusting. There was trash piled up all over the place - the hallways, by the ice machines, outside of people's rooms, etc. There was also leftover plates of food outside of rooms that had been knocked over and ground into the carpet. Nobody had bothered to clean the place in days if not weeks.
3) The air conditioning was off in the hallways. It was late June. For those of you familiar with Texas summers, you can imagine how that might affect the smell in the hallways with the trash situation they had going on.
4) The fridge was broken in our room. Not a big deal for us initially as we figured we could just get some ice to keep our perishables cold overnight, but of course....
5) Every single ice machine was out of order except for 1 which was out of ice. The first 4 Ice machines we tried either did not work or had a sign directing us to another Ice machine that was also broken. We finally found one that seemed to at least work but of course it was out of ice. We had to throw away our food.
6) The bed was broken. If I could upload a video I would so y'all could hear the clunking sound every time we sat down on it.
Overall this was an incredibly disappointing and infuriating experience. We ended up paying close to $200 for an uncomfortable, disgusting hotel that is badly mismanaged, understaffed, and seems to be run by someone thirsty for cash and wholly uninterested in providing a decent lodging experience. I don't know how Hilton allows their brand to be attached to something clearly lacking in quality.
Do not stay here unless they offer to pay you instead. Biggest ripoff ever.
The worst with the toilet it didn't/the entire 2 night stay. The front desk got answering my calls the first night while I was out at an event the next day I called before I left before I retired to see if someone into the room. The front desk told me they had. They had not.
Two days of raw sewage in my bathroom. I will never stay here again. Do not recommend and would ask Hilton make a visit themselves. I was here covering media for two major events and was not assisted in trying to find a new room. Maintenance was always called when I needed to be changing or preparing for another event.
Awful customer service.
I obviously booked a different hotel next week and with the many hotels in the area, there are plenty of better options than this hotel.
