Love this hotel, north of downtown and off the expressway and no noise.
Want less distraction ask for room overseeing the bar, no lights and sounds from the expressway.

Love the bed, Kingsize was very comfortable and the comfortable and sheets are great. The pillows are soft and do not lose their support.

Check in a breeze and they give you water and a warm cookie.

Lots of choices of restaurants nearby.

Shuttle service is available.

About 5 miles from downtown but easy to get to.

Use Anderson lane and Lamar to go to and come from downtown, avoid the expressways.

The Arboretum is a good place to stay. It is spacious and clean, and convenient to the residences and businesses on the northwest side of Austin. And the price is good. I do have a couple of concerns: I made my reservation on line and two things fell through the cracks: my spouse was not included in the reservation, despite the fact that I listed her. I had to request that she be given a Hilton Honors coupon, and then had to have a breakfast charge cancelled on checking out. A second issue was that I was not informed that the hotel has two types of accessible rooms, only one of which has a walkin shower. In addition I had two irritants, one of which may just be temporary. There was no ice machine on the first floor: one had been removed and the second was out of order. The other irritant was a parking fee. I could have parked just out of the hotel perimeter for free had I known. The location doesn't justify a parking fee, since in fact there is no security available. But as I said, it is good value for the money and it is clean and roomy.

I was pleasantly surprised by this Doubletree. Decent rooms and a very good front desk welcome. This hotel is actually much larger than the average Doubletree. FInding the breakfast location took ten minutes and it was very frustrating. You need to go thru the lobby bar, find some unmarked stairs in the back and then carry your bags up. No signs, and I did not appreciate a staff member sending me up to the 2nd floor when it did not connect to the breakfast. Is it that hard to let people know where to eat?

Hotel is not managed well. From the time I arrived at the designated check in time until the day afterI checks out its been issues. I arrived at (3pm) on a Tuesday and my room wasn't ready and I was fine and didn't make a big deal about it and the front desk agent was super nice and told me he would give me points to make up for it but never did.

Thursday I called down from my room on check out date around 10:30am and said can you please verify our food and beverage credit has been applied and check us out. The girl said no problem. I didn't receive a receipt in my email like normal and was in a meeting room anyway so around 2pm went to the front desk and asked for a copy of my receipt and of course the credit was not applied.

I spoke to the guy that appeared to be in charge that had also promised me points the day before and he said he would take care of it and I trusted he would but it appears he never did because whomever ran audit that night charged my credit card $24.

I should not have been charged anything as we had a $30 daily credit and spent $21 each day.

I ended up having to call the diamond desk this morning and waste 20 more minutes because the hotel staff are not capable of fixing this after two requests, so why would I call them again so now the hotel will likely get a $200 charge from Hilton for me creating a case against them.

I should also address the blatant money grab this hotel is doing by charging for parking. This is not a location where you can justify charging for parking. I get it in downtown areas, beach areas, etc but this location is not a place this applies. DO NOT book here if you want to have a good experience. I should warn groups against hosting events here also do to the parking charges for people to attend your event.

Considering how expensive the room was, this is one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had.

1) There is a fee for parking. This hotel is located well outside of downtown surrounded by apartments, business complexes and residential neighborhoods - there is a deluge of empty parking lots, yet this already overpriced hotel chooses to gouge its customers by forcing them to pay $10. This is not included in the charge for the room and must be paid separately via QR code. I wonder where that money goes.

2) The hotel is disgusting. There was trash piled up all over the place - the hallways, by the ice machines, outside of people's rooms, etc. There was also leftover plates of food outside of rooms that had been knocked over and ground into the carpet. Nobody had bothered to clean the place in days if not weeks.

3) The air conditioning was off in the hallways. It was late June. For those of you familiar with Texas summers, you can imagine how that might affect the smell in the hallways with the trash situation they had going on.

4) The fridge was broken in our room. Not a big deal for us initially as we figured we could just get some ice to keep our perishables cold overnight, but of course....

5) Every single ice machine was out of order except for 1 which was out of ice. The first 4 Ice machines we tried either did not work or had a sign directing us to another Ice machine that was also broken. We finally found one that seemed to at least work but of course it was out of ice. We had to throw away our food.

6) The bed was broken. If I could upload a video I would so y'all could hear the clunking sound every time we sat down on it.

Overall this was an incredibly disappointing and infuriating experience. We ended up paying close to $200 for an uncomfortable, disgusting hotel that is badly mismanaged, understaffed, and seems to be run by someone thirsty for cash and wholly uninterested in providing a decent lodging experience. I don't know how Hilton allows their brand to be attached to something clearly lacking in quality.

Do not stay here unless they offer to pay you instead. Biggest ripoff ever.

Make sure everything is working properly in the room, including your key fob. My online reservation included a breakfast for the rate I paid, but the next day I was told it wasn’t included. I never leave reviews but I felt the need to pass this info on to my fellow business travelers. I've been Hilton Honors for at least a decade. I have stayed at SO many Doubletree properties through the years because they were the right price for work travel but full service (on site restaurant/bar). This property does not meet the standard. There is no on-site restaurant...in fact, there is no food at all. They barely have a functioning bar. It's a very sad property in general. This one should be downgraded for sure.

On the first day, the television in the refrigerator wouldn't come on. They said it engineer to my room. He was able to get the power strip working but the refrigerator never got cold.

The worst with the toilet it didn't/the entire 2 night stay. The front desk got answering my calls the first night while I was out at an event the next day I called before I left before I retired to see if someone into the room. The front desk told me they had. They had not.

Two days of raw sewage in my bathroom. I will never stay here again. Do not recommend and would ask Hilton make a visit themselves. I was here covering media for two major events and was not assisted in trying to find a new room. Maintenance was always called when I needed to be changing or preparing for another event.

Awful customer service.

As someone who’s traveled for a living going on 12 years …..stay somewhere else!! First off, this is the first Hilton stay where as a Diamond member that i didn’t get free breakfast ($12 credit which didn’t cover it all). Then there’s the laundry. First you need to download an app to use them. Then attach a credit card and try to figure out how to get the app to find a machine. If you get that far, the least amount of money you can load is $10. I only needed to spend $4 so thank you doubletree for taking $6 from me. My room thermostat wouldn’t get above 69-70• even after two maintenance trips(finally the 3rd helped trip was successful). When the desk says “maintenance is on their way” that means wait 30 plus min or they won’t come at all. My last night I was awoke by a dog barking next to me. With such a big hotel and seemingly not a lot of people the staff decided to put a person with a dog next to the Diamond member traveling for business so thank you. To finish there was no microwave in the room, slamming doors, no water in the gym and bring winter cloths because they keep it frigid inside.

I obviously booked a different hotel next week and with the many hotels in the area, there are plenty of better options than this hotel.

Our reservation, one which was made months ago directly through Hilton, was canceled without notice on the day of our stay. Upon checking in (or attempting to), we were simply told that the hotel was overbooked. We were provided no apology, remedy, nor consolation. Instead, the office manager physically threatened me and suggested he would call law enforcement (I have this exchange on video). Hilton's main number was absolutely no help. In fact, while trying to get help from them, they actually transferred our call back to this hotel. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Our hotel currently offers transportation service within 4 miles of the hotel which include two main shopping areas – The Domain and The Arboretum – which combined have a total of over 150 stores and restaurants. At this time, our service does not include airport transportation, however Super Shuttle is available for transportation to our hotel (according to their website, the cost is approximately $22.00 per person both ways). Our hotels also offers our restaurant open daily, The Overlook which offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and room service. Thank You Henry Naber
