The Austin Southpark Hotel garners appreciation for its pristine condition and the high level of service that significantly enhances guest experiences. Its vibrant atmosphere, bolstered by live music and an old-style charm, has also received positive mentions. However, some guests have expressed dissatisfaction with the perceived value, citing concerns like overcharging and outdated facilities. We stayed here on 7-19-20 to celebrate our anniversary, but really to just spend a day or so by and in a pool. The lobby is in great shape and very clean. We did online check in, but they still had us sign something which we were trying to avoid since we are “Covid adverse”. Oh, well, more hand sanitizer. They upgraded us to a junior suite and had several of their staff sign a happy anniversary card to us. Very nice.

The suite was one large room with a good size sitting area and wet bar. All seemed very clean. Supposedly no one had been in the room for over 24 hours, but I wish they would seal the room once it’s clean like some chains now do. It also had both a Keurig and a Nespresso machine which I enjoyed.

The pool is resort style with a large pool connected by a short river to a smaller indoor-outdoor pool. We could easily distance ourselves from the few others at the pool. However, the pool is In considerable need of cosmetic work. Didn’t bother us, but I was surprised. Also, when we went for a swim the next morning, the staff were arranging the chairs, but were not sanitizing them. The ladders had handprints from the day before, so clearly had not been sanitized or even wiped down.

All in all, it was a good short stay and we got in some relaxing pool time.

The hotel was adequate but overpriced. Obviously out dated and in need of an upgrade. Lighting was dim and the feel was something closer to a mid grade motel than an upscale vacation spot. Compared to other Omni hotels, this location was severely lacking and would not be my first choice in this area again. Furthermore, there was a planned power outage the day of our stay, and being informed the day of arrival was very unprofessional and felt like the hotel wanted to hide something. Outages are not last minute unless it’s an emergency. Telling us before hand may have resulted in loss of business, but I could have respected that knowledge and appreciated the heads up and stayed anyway. I will say, a positive note, the manager did accommodate us with a $50 food credit for the inconvenience.

Austin has gotten so expensive since Covid. This hotel is older but very well maintained. The rooms are clean, beds seem new and nice. The staff is always great.

I travel for work and have not had any hotel provide room service every day of a stay since Covid, not one time. This hotel has the tree times I have stayed in 2022. I don't really need it or expect it at this point. Housekeeping does the little things higher-end hotels do like straighten up your shoes, and papers places new water, folded the fifteen or so cash bills I had sitting there neatly and placing them under the, uh pew pew I left out. This is Texas folks.

No money missing, no booze gone and a nice clean room. Refreshing, to say the least. Other hotels in the area cost more, do less and don't have this service.

***No I did not know they were coming in or I would have put some things away. :)

Happy traving all.

So...the room the hotel first assigned was not made up. To their staff credit, they moved me fairly quickly. The corner room was very noisy, with I-35 and Highway 290 intersecting at the hotel. It was a nice surprise the hotel did provide a white noise machine, which actually helped. Not a nice surprise though was the condition of the room. Very badly chipped furniture, dark and dreary feeling with poor lighting. It made me feel I was in a hotel that cost much much much less than the $100 fee per night. Also could not set the time on the alarm clock, which was off more than 10 minutes. What a rip off. Then, the staff brought a microwave and mini fridge on a cart at my request. The fridge was moldy around the gaskets and rusted near the bottom door. Don't let the lobby area (which is very nice) fool you though. The rooms are awful and don't justify the price. That room should have been about $50. Avoid this place until Omni can remodel or sell it.

I am currently staying at this hotel due to a conference and I cannot wait to leave. I knocked off one star because as soon as I entered the room, it had somewhat of a musty smell. I have sprayed Lysol and perfume around the entrance (where the smell comes from) but it still lingers. The remote felt sticky and I also cleaned it with Lysol to use it. The rooms are dimly lit and the hotel in general is very outdated. I knocked off two additional stars because of the bathroom. It was just gross and dingy. It’s dimly lit, the toilet seat looks like it was peeling at the top, but the worst was the bathtub. I found a hair in a corner. The water can come out very hot, which I don’t mind, but the water would not drain in the tub while showering. Nothing probably Drain-O wouldn’t fix I think, someone else also reported the same problem a few floors up. It was just uncomfortable. The bed linens also felt a little itchy. I had to double check there were no bed bugs but I confirmed it was the linens. I mean, if you are looking for a place to stay, at the price, you can find other cleaner hotel rooms. Overall, it’s made for an uncomfortable experience.

I ended up staying at this hotel due to my flight being oversold and rebooked for the next day. This particular hotel is one that was supposed to be the nicest of the ones covered by the airline.

I travel frequently for work and stay in Marriott hotels most of the time. Since the pandemic, I have had my normal process of disinfecting the counters, knobs, and remotes in the room with Clorox wipes and I spray the bed with Lysol before I get in the bed.

The first room I was given in this hotel had noticeable stains on the sheets. I took a couple of pictures, gathered my things, and immediately went to the front desk. They were apologetic and gave me another room.

This time the sheet stains weren’t noticeable when I first pulled back the sheets but when I prepared for bed all the lights were off in the room and I left the light on in the bathroom. I moved the covers back and noticed the comforter had mold inside. I’ve never in my life seen anything like this.

When I told the guy at the front desk, he apologized and said he would have the manager give me an additional 5000 points. I said to him I wasn’t sure how that change the level of filth I was exposed to but I appreciate the gesture.

It’s beyond disturbing and disappointing that so many people have to use this hotel when there are travel issues, but it’s disgusting and I cannot believe it

Literally this place is a huge lie. The rooms are awful. I wish I could have wrote this review a week ago when I stayed and was still furious and could tell you about every awful detail, but my phone was dead because finding an outlet in the room was like a mortal sin so I couldn't. I the room was dark and did not have a mini bar or bath robes or anything. It had an empty mini fridge designed to hold alcohol but contained none but it was advertised as something the room came with. I asked for a new room and he said every single room is exactly the same, which was a lie. You have to pay for things that hotels that cost half the price include for free. I told the staff how bad my stay was and they did literally nothing about it. I'd love to see this place go out of business but they know that there are suckers everywhere and they will continue to suck their blood.

The meeting rooms are fantastic. Be prepared to drive to find places to eat. The drive depending on the time of day might be long. The room does have a small refrigerator for your use. As with most hotels at this time the rooms are not cleaned daily unless you request service.

Dated property. Beds need replacing, very soft and no support. My 2 co-workers who also said same bed issues.

5 night stay. Only had hot water 1 morning and that was at 4:30am, when leaving for early flight. 2 days had warm to almost hot water. 2 mornings only had warm to cool water.

Almost half of the TV channels did not work for 3 of the days. TV said "weak or no signal". It was only raining for one of those days.

I did call front desk about both issues on my second day. Advised the rain was causing the TV issues and they would send an engineer up to my room about the lack of hot water.

From check in to check out the front desk agents were all very professional. The pool was stocked with clean towels , the room was very clean and the balcony was huge . I couldn't get the steam sauna to work , and the hot tub was out of order . Other then that I loved the nostalgia of the hotel as we pull in the parking lot you get a feal of elegance all the way in to the lobby , it was a very nice experience and we will be returning again . I first found the hotel with pool day pass and decided to rent the room for the next time and we were not disappointed one bit . The bed was comfy the room was a nice size the curtains were awesome from light filtering and room darkening when we needed . The TV was not showing cable but if you need TV for a getaway your doing it wrong .
