We chose the La Quinta Inn in Amarillo for our trip from Houston to Denver, Colorado after 8 hours on the road. It was clean, quiet and inexpensive and offers a breakfast (on the go during Corvid) - that’s all we needed! Nothing fancy but enough for a restful sleep before heading out again.
This is our stop when traveling between Colorado Springs and Dallas. We do this trip multiple times a year. Last trip, in November, we had no light in the tub area and the bathroom door didn't close. It was reported to the front office. This trip, I asked for the back side, got the front side, closer to the highway, the main floor ice maker was not working, we had no hot water in the tub area, the knob turned, but NO water came out. The rooms are always clean and beds are comfortable, just wish everything worked.
They insisted on a facemask even if one has a medical need to not use. They did give a refund. The reception fellow was polite. Even with details about medical needs they insisted even though medical exemptions are supposed to exist.
Dirty rooms, smelt like smoke, trash and dog poop all over the property. The carpet was gross we felt the need to have to wear our shoes inside. There was what looked like puke on the bed skirt of one of the beds.
my room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The amenities were good too. Great location off I40 East. I had my dog with me as well with no additional cost. I especially liked being able to park right in front of my room for easy unload and load.
