The is the best Holiday Inn Express of 4 that we have stayed in in the last 6 weeks. Online booking was easy, then I called and requested a quiet room away from highway traffic and elevator. Ashley was very personable on the phone . The interior was clean and bright and welcoming. The clerk indicated we would be away from street traffic and elevator; Our room was very quiet where is was located. The bed was fantastic. Room was clean even looked fairly new renovation.
Breakfast was very good, nice variety eggs were fluffy bacon crisp the sausage gravy as good as some chain restaurants the ladies taking care of the breakfast area were keeping food and coffee replenished and the counters clean. I spoke with Ashly as we were leaving and told her this was the best of 4 and less money and more value than upstate New York. The only con is that they allow dogs,

Absolutely one of the best places I have stayed in this area. Ashley is one of the best employees I have ever ran across. She makes you feel welcome as soon as you walk in and she is always friendly and eager to help.

...last? Maybe. We'll see how they respond to our issues. The front desk staff was friendly upon check in which bode well for our stay. The pool area was also nice. Our final positive was the modern room decor (where it was updated - some parts of the room were not - like most of the bathroom). On the downside, one of our beds had food crumbs, or maybe dirt, on the fitted sheet. How that gets there is beyond me, but it was gross. Upon calling the front desk, they brought up extra sheets but said housekeeping was gone. So my stay now included a fantasy housekeeping component! I got to strip and remake my own bed!
Another major issue is this hotel is so loud. Not guests being loud - just the world's noises are pretty impactful. Street noise from a block away, people in other rooms walking, talking, or snoring are all easily heard. Folks walking or talking in the hall also came through the apparently thin doors/walls/windows.
Can't recommend a stay here.

Our stay at this hotel was nice. Staff friendly, good breakfast. Unfortunately being near a college town, it was a bit pricey, even without it being a key weekend (wasn't graduation, parents weekend, etc). We did like the location being outside the school area but close enough that it was just a short drive.

Stay at this Holiday Inn several years ago and at the time the front desk agents acted inconvenienced by guests’ check in. At the time, upon checking in, both front desk agents looked at each other as though neither wanted to be the one to take the responsibility to check in guests. Employees at the front desk really make or break a guest’s experience and at the time I vowed never to return to this and other chained hotels in the area. However, I found myself in the area again recently for one night and was pleasantly surprised that front desk agent training had greatly improved since the last visit and the FDA went out of her way to find a quiet room for me, even if I was only staying one night. Overall, the stay is what you expect from a typical Holiday Inn. Room was cleaned and available ahead of regular check in time. Breakfast the next day was standard, eggs, sausage, juices, cereal, etc. What sets this stay apart from previous visits and from other hotels is the enthusiasm of the employees from check in to check out. Hotel is right in front of the bike path and easily reached by walking to uptown or by car. There is a nice photo gallery of Athens on the first floor. I would consider staying here again on my next visit.

Rooms and stay was fine except they bumped the rate from $165 to $235 with the excuse " its the Holiday" for Thanksgiving day. Its a college town and students go home parents don't come visit so occupancy was very low. They should also drug test their staff as 1 person was definitely geeked out.

Great hotel with wonderful staff! From the moment we walked in, everyone was so friendly and helped us with leaving our bikes outside with our truck and trailer. We were there for the Windy 9. Excellent location for this! A lot of nearby amenities like a water park, walking /bicycling paths, tennis courts, dog park, an Applebee's & CVS, ALL within walking distance.
The manager Julie was helpful with our one little hiccup. Donna and Billy in the kitchen area great! Make sure to say hi to Billy!!
We definitely will recommend this hotel to anyone we know!

The pool was closed. Indoor pool roof deteriorated nothing was fixed during my stay for two weeks. The gym was also closed. Then laundry machines were not fixed during my stay. This was a very inconvenient stay. Should have stayed with Hampton Inn.. the hotel beside this hotel .

Here for one night, just needed a bed. It was clean and the location was convenient, everything we needed. Far enough removed from the alcohol-infused late night crowd yet close enough for a several minute drive to get to where we needed. Staff was friendly and informative.
