Detailed Reviews
Stayed here for one night while visiting OU for Sib's Weekend. Most of the other hotels were already booked, and found this place for a decent price. Since we were just here for a night, and were barely going to be in the room or at the hotel, this worked out fine for us. Check-in was easy, and the guy at the front desk was nice. No issues there.
Our room wasn't the cleanest, very dated, and didn't have the most pleasant odor. Again, we were here to sleep and leave, so this did the job. However, our "clean" shower towels were COVERED with long, black hair. It was disgusting. Nothing like reaching for a fresh towel and having to shake off hair in order to use it.
The AC unit in the room was fantastic...temp could be changed instantly.
Since we were out super late, we didn't make it for the breakfast.
All in all, a basic, yet unkept hotel that is close to the OU campus. Just remember this is a Super 8 after all.

Spent over a week in this motel. Rooms are decent, fairly clean overall, though I would no means say they are sanitized between patrons as I found fresh water rings on several of the furniture surfaces which tells me they were never wiped down. Matresses are on the firm side (not pillow top), and there are no coffee makers in the rooms. There are small refrigerators and microwaves. There is no elevator here either.
Forget the "breakfast" which is only coffee and granola bars, packaged bite size muffins that taste terrible, and juice.
There is ample parking for vehicles, RV's, and trucks with trailers.

Was very clean. They disinfected the main lobby door many times a day. Wiping door knobs. Staff were wearing masks at all times. We were very happy to see this.
Check in was very easy and a fast process

Price jacked up to $245 for Parent’s weekend; last room available in the city. “Breakfast”= coffee, banana, Kroger granola bar, cheap pastry-period. No juice, cream, milk or cereal; no hot food. Good luck if you have kids. No coffee maker in room, no coffee available in lobby except breakfast.
Room standard with OLD furniture, mold on shower curtain, stained toilet, toilet seat loose and falling off, hair dryer plug and cord filthy. Tile stained-I hope it was stained! “Free toiletries” we did get one tiny shampoo, one tiny lotion and one tiny soap bar, no hair conditioner. Looked generic, not Wyndham. 2 sets of the Thinest, tiniest towels I have ever seen in 50 years. Desk person did give us an extra pillow when requested. Thin poly woven blanket, and thin bedspread coverlet which I removed. Heater and TV worked well. Microwave and refrigerator units not used. SO OVERPRICED for the quality! Price Gouging! Will be reporting quality issues to Wyndham.

Room was comfortable and run down some, but it isn't a new building. The overall cleanliness was fair until you see the sheets and pillow cases. There was a probably brown spot on the bed sheet that looked like a blood stain. (Hope not worse.) When Using a UV Flashlight, there were stains all over the sheets and pillow cases which were very obvious. One pillow case was okay. The bathroom was VERY disgusting with urine stains all over near the toilet. Not just a little spatter, LOADS of splashes and build-up on the walls. Not a warm and fuzzy feeling to know what the room is really like. Bed was comfortable. I didn't feel unsafe on the pillow, but the one I used DID have a fairly clean cover on it. If you find another hotel in Athens that has openings, you may pay much more depending on season, but may be worth it for you to go there. I've been in Athens recently, but the Comfort Inn I've stayed at before was double the price it was the last couple times I was there. It was $140, rather than the $80 it was before.

Worst experience I’ve ever had. Was charged 3 times at this hotel and wasn’t even there for 10 minutes. The lady working the desk was very rude as soon as I walked in, and just got worse when I complained about the multiple charges. Said she didn’t charge me multiple times and there’s nothing she can do for me. She tried to get me to sign a paper saying they weren’t responsible for lost money and then told me to leave the property.

No matter how desperate you may be for a room, travel an additional hour or two to avoid this place.
They will take advantage of whatever situation you are traveling for. You may think you've lucked out when no other options are available. But I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. It's dirty, disgusting & dishonest.

We took our dog to visit her favorite girl away at OU. Super 8 allowed pets at a fair price. We had a nice room close to outside whenever needed with no distractions. There were several other dogs there also. There was no dog smell at all. No dog barking either. Room was clean and comfortable.
All employees were kind and courteous. I made a mistake in booking room but manager helped me with the issue. Very nice visit.

an efficient "no-frills" clean place to stay where you can get a good night's sleep at a reasonable price...and the staff was cheerfuly helpful. Also I was able to keep my support dog here by agreeing to clean standard practices.... when you are traveling on business that's what you need....peaceful and quiet rest.

The staff looked and dressed unprofessional. They looked more like guest. You always had to hunt them down in the laundry room. The bed was horribly uncomfortable. My husband and I worked on the Television for 30 min alone after approaching the desk 2x about it not working. They just changed the batteries on the remote both times. We finally moved chords around and hit a picture. Not one of our best choices for a stay

In my opinion I would not waste your money on a place like this. If you have the budget to do so, the Ohio University Inn is a nice hotel with a very pleasant and welcoming staff. That is where I went after I canceled my second night at the Super 8. Hope this helps!
