Modern hotel with a boutique feel, set in a beautiful bustling area of KL with lovely local eateries all within walking distance.
There is a roof top infinity style pool and bar area with amazing views over KL - bed space is a premium with only about 8 loungers
The rooms are large and well air conditioned with large bathrooms.
Breakfast didn’t have a huge selection but what was there was beautifully cooked and fresh eggs and omelettes to order.
The hotel also has a gym with a selection of both cardio and weights equipment.
The hotel is quiet but is within walking distance of busy areas including Petronas and Central Market

Had a great 3 night stay at Hotel Stripes mid June. We booked a family room which was ample for the three of us. The only negative in the room was the opaque shower screen in the main bedroom - I would have preferred it to be completely private. Breakfast was a very good selection of hot and cold food. Location was very accessible and we used the GRAB to travel everywhere very cheaply.

I stayed three days at the Stripes in Kuala Lumpur with my husband and we had a great time. The air conditioning in the corridors is really too high but in the rooms at least it can be turned down. In the bathroom, excellent quality products are available with dispensers (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body milk). An ironing board and iron are also available! With breakfast we found a focus on mostly Chinese customers with many dishes that in Europe we are not used to tasting early in the morning. However, it is possible to order omelettes, there are croissants, French toast, pancakes, jams, yogurt and fruit (which however was not very tasty and repetitive). I asked for gluten-free bread for my dietary needs and it was kindly provided. The top floor bar with swimming pool is very nice with a view of the KL Tower and it is also possible to swim (towels are available without having to bring them from the room). To get around we used Grab which proved to be very convenient and the hotel was in a rather central position that all the drivers had no problem reaching within a maximum of 10 minutes of booking on the application. I recommend all these hotels where everyone is very kind and willing to help you. Also suitable for families.

Don't be put off by the location, hotel entrance is not on a main road but a busy side street within the Heritage part of the city with lots of old buildings. Check in was fairly quick and easy they have to issue breakfast vouchers with dates on why not just have a list at breakfast time like in most hotels.
Room was clean and roomy but for some reason they have the wash hand basin outside the bathroom plus the wall between the bathroom and bedroom is mainly opaque glass which means during the night put the bathroom light on and it illuminates the whole room. Room was serviced every day.
No executive lounge, a bit disappointing, there were nibbles, free beer and wine between 4 and 6 pm at the roof top bar. Asked about soft drinks during the day and was informed would be charged for them, in the lounge soft drinks and snacks would have been available throughout the day.
Breakfast was the usual hotel buffet style obviously no pork but there were chicken sausages and chicken ham, eggs cooked to order and a selection of cold food plus cereals and toast.
Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the stay.
Be aware that on a Sunday morning between 6 am and 10 am the main roads near the hotel are closed so you leave the hotel by road, we needed to be at the airport for 10 am so had to leave the hotel at 5:45 am. This might change but it would be worth checking if you are departing on a Sunday morning.
Hotel is a 10-minute walk from the MRT and Monorail Stations. Plenty of restaurants in the area many of which were very busy with local people always a good sign.
Overall a very good stay and would consider staying here again.

This hotel was absolutely fabulous. It situated in the old colonial part of Kuala Lumpur but with excellent transport links.
Check in was smooth Staff were friendly, attentive and efficient Room was an excellent size with good facilities; safe, coffee making facilities, bottled water, TV, alarm clock, bath robes that could be worn up to the rooftop pool etc. Bed was large and very comfortable Bathroom was a good size with excellent complimentary toiletries including toothbrushes and toothpaste. Always had hot water and clean towels
Breakfast was very good, buffet style with both Asian and western dishes including an egg station. Staff were friendly and efficient and we never had to wait for a table.
The rooftop bar and infinity pool was the biggest star at this property. The views were out of this world. My only criticism and this is just a personal opinion is the cocktail list was limited. However the cocktail that I did have was very good.
Overall this hotel is excellent and I would definitely return

We stayed for four nights after flying into KL and the location was a good base for exploring most attractions and shopping malls.
The check was efficient, but not informative and the room we were allocated was spacious, clean and comfortable. There was no turn down service.
There was no restaurant in the hotel open for dinner so we did have to venture out, which was not really what we had planned. We would have preferred dinner in the hotel after such a long trip, but this just wasn't an option. Reception weren't that helpful with suggestions so after a sleep we went out to dine.
The pool on the roof top has only a few loungers which when we stayed were reserved with towels in the usual European style of bagging a lounger! Just annoying,so we didn't use it.
The roof top bar advertises 'happy hour ' five pm - seven pm and so we did visit for this. The promo was also displayed in the lifts as half price off drinks at this time.
Imagine our surprise when after a couple of drinks we signed the tab and we didn't get the fifty per cent off our bill.
The front desk argued its for elite members only, then changed to its only on beer and so on.... This spoiled our experience and set the tone for our stay. Eventually the manager telephoned us in the room and remedied because he checked his own promos!!
Breakfast was ok,not as extensive as other MB but adequate. Service at breakfast was good.
Front desk on leaving weren't helpful when trying to get a taxi / grab the guys we spoke to,one in particular was especially awkward and so we took the mono rail with our luggage instead.
It was not a five star experience and we probably wouldn't return because there are so many other options in that area.

A great hotel for visiting KL The central location is ideal for walking distance to Petronas Towers, Indian City and the subway to Chinatown. Breakfast is very well organized, quite extensive and the room is spacious and well lit. One day the air conditioning was very strong. The staff is very friendly, especially at reception. A good gym and a good rooftop pool with bar. In the area there are two very good pizzerias (Heritage and Dihyang) and a good massage place where the whole family enjoyed.

After a long flight I had contacted the hotel in advance to ask if there was any possibility of a super early check in. An email confirmed they would try - which is only reasonable. On arrival it was unsure whether the front desk were aware of the emails but still did their best to sort us out - and within 2 hours of a very early arrival we were in our rooms. Very much appreciated!
The rooms are lovely - spacious with a decent bathroom and with lovely complimentary toiletries. The hotel is clean and fresh and in particular the rooftop bar was a treat with drinks and snacks on offer.
The location is superb. Not bang in the centre but a cheap and quick Grab taxi ride can get you to main sites very quickly. We walked to Chinatown/Central Market in about 20 minutes one morning, an easy flat walk. The hotel is minutes away from The Row which has restaurants, bars and coffee shops which we thoroughly enjoyed.
We didn’t eat at the hotel purely because there were so many places we wanted to try - and right outside the hotel is a restaurant called Pekin Duck where we ate one evening and it was sublime!
I’d highly recommend the hotel - the staff really try to assist you, and are friendly and welcoming. I’ll stay here again when we are next back in KL

Great hotel lovely roof pool and great staff. Close to tub and monorail stations to explore KL and the local street food was fab and cheap. Really good real ale tap house nearby too which was a bonus. The tube and monorail are only about 60 pence so really easy to get around

Stayed here for 4 nights as a solo traveller. Lovely hotel, with friendly staff. I felt very safe. The location is good with a mixture of bars and restaurants offering different cuisines I preferred the local food markets and cafes which were all within walking distance. Had a deluxe king room which was more than enough for my needs. The view wasn't a view as such part of it was obscured by a brick wall, but I didn't intend to sit in my hotel room. Thank goodness the room comes fully equipped with toiletries incl toothbrush and toothpaste as my luggage was delayed and didn't arrive till the next day. Had a leak in the ceiling of the gym but was still able to use it. It's got the standard equipment you'd expect and the view is a bit better. I was celebrating a milestone birthday and I arrived back to my room to a delicious cake and card from the hotel which was so lovely. Breakfast was OK, a lot of the dishes were not that warm and by the time I would sit down to eat food was cold. The taste of them was not bad but when you eat something cold that is meant to be hot it's hard to rate it. So I would usually have an omelette and toast as my hot food. The rooftop bar and pool are not to be missed. I would go for a swim in the morning and see the sunrise. Went in the evening sometimes and it was never packed although all the sun loungers would be taken It was about a 15-20 min walk to Petronas towers. There is an LRT station nearby (can't remember the name). I would stay here again and would recommend this hotel

I do not know for sure. It probably is less at the shallow end of the pool.
If this is crucial why do email reception to confirm? The hotel’s customer service was first rate.
There are more places to choose from in the Kuala Lumpur area.
