We are familiar with the Ritz brand, as we spent our honeymoon and many anniversaries at Laguna Nigel, Pasadena and Maui. Osaka out did them all.

On arrival we were greeted by name then escorted past the wonderful Christmas tree and our luxurious European design room. After we were introduced to the amenities, Ms. Naomi Saio, Guest Services Manager, said to let her know if there was anything else that we needed. I mentioned my husband’s red and painful eye and within an hour she arranged for him to see an English-speaking ophthalmologist - and a Ritz staff member escorted him to the office. (In case you’re wondering what such a visit would cost, it was $45 and he accepted credit cards)!!

The room was so comfortable (the pillows, sunset view, great bathroom, perfect furniture) that it was a bit hard to leave and it seemed to welcome us back on return.
The staff, without exception, was outstanding – with special mention to the chef at the Japanese teppanyaki grill in the restaurant Hanagatami who was so thoughtful when I was feeling ill. (Reviews of the dining at Hanagatami and of La Baie in the hotel will be posted separately).

The bar is cozy and entertaining. Between the mixologist show, where we made a new friend, and the singer/piano player, we made it our last stop each night before turning in.

The buffet breakfast did not disappoint our expectations – the truffle omelets were sublime!

There is a large, impeccable corridor (city, actually) beneath the hotel which extends to a shopping center and also provides access to the metro.

Osaka was our favorite of the cities we visited, and the Ritz-Carlton Osaka our favorite hotel of the trip.

Special afternoon treat with a friend. Delicious scones, savouries, and mini desserts beautifully presented on Wedgwood crockery by attentive staff who all spoke great English. At 6900 yen it is an affordable treat for a special day.

The menu is in English and Japanese. We enjoyed mini muffins with whisky-infused beef, salad, savoury jelly, plain and orange scones with clotted cream and home-made raspberry jam, mini desserts: cheesecake, apple pie, chocolate and lemon ganache, and a pot of tea in its own pretty Wedgwood teapot. There was a choice of tea and also a nonalcoholic tea cocktail on arrival.

Would really recommend for a luxurious afternoon out. In these uncertain times, the hygiene, social distancing, screens and layout of the dining room were very reassuring. Smart loos, too! An affordable afternoon of luxury.

This hotel location is very convenient, with access to most area around Osaka Station via underground tunnel with clear signage so finding your way will be easy.

The check in process is fast and the elite recognition is quite good. The corner room that I stayed in is large and spacious with comfortable bed and chairs. The view of the surrounding area from the room is also very nice especially for sunrise. Bathroom is stocked with lots of amenities and refilled proactively by the housekeeping everyday so I do not have to phone for extra items or refill

I had breakfast everyday in the hotel and it is just average breakfast experience because even the taste is very good but there is no rotation in the menu everyday so it get quite boring for long term guests.

Overall it is a very good experience to stay here and I would not hesitate to return in the future.

I stayed here over the long Japanese New Year Holiday...apparently lots of others had the same idea. Normally that would not be a problem, but this property seemed overwhelmed by the occupancy. Check in process included a lengthy argument regarding room type which ultimately culminated in a call to Bonvoy Services. At check out the morning clerk was seemingly baffled by the partial payment of the room in local currency. Concierge staff provided only the minimal service. Club Lounge was a nightmare. Wait for a table. Wait for a drink. Wait for food. Hot and stuffy. Not enough staff. Ran out of some foods and drinks. The room was typical RC, except for the bed which was hard as a rock. I stay at RC properties around the world and am rarely disappointed. This property was a disappointment. Hopefully it can be attributed to the high occupancy, but unfortunately on my next trip to Osaka I will stay elsewhere.

The Ritz in Osaka is situated in a very visitor-friendly location, especially as we only had an overnight to explore the city. The staff was very warm and inviting, and the corner room was a restful oasis after a busy day. Highly recommend!

We stayed at the Japanese suite. It was roomy and comfortable. Every evening, 3-4 housekeeping would come in to make the 5 futon beds for us. They were very efficient and a joy too watch.

Big shout out to Ayumi from Splendid-O. She went to ask the chef about each breakfast option and what were the ingredients. This helped us to choose halal food. She even arranged for hash browns to be fried in new vege oil so that it's not mixed with the oil frying the sausages. So happy to meet such a sweet, transparent lady.

This was the first Ritz Carlton hotel I had ever stayed in. Since then I have also stayed in the Ritz Carlton in Singapore and Tokyo. But my first time in a Ritz Carlton was such a wonderful experience. I was impressed by its luxury and room size. I had a corner room on a high floor with a great view of Osaka city below. I just loved the desk at the glass corner of the room. And the bathroom was so big.

The hotel is near Osaka Station in the north part of the city. It is connected to the train station by a long tunnel so you can avoid street traffic and walk underground all the way to the hotel. However, I would recommend taking the limousine bus from the airport which drops you off right at the front entrance of the hotel.

Around Osaka Station in the north part of the city are several shopping malls, department stores and shopping street all within easy walking distance. There is also Namba in the south part of the city. You can take the train or subway from Osaka to Namba. Namba has many shops, department stores and restaurants. It's definitely a must go area.

Ritz Carlton is of course not cheap but the level of luxury is so much higher. Give it a try especially on a special occasion.

The staff, the hospitality, the room-- Ritz Osaka is a definite must-stay for Japan. The room was absolutely stunning, with unbelievable vistas of the city. The staff were above and beyond attentive and the location was within walking distance to everything. Clean fitness centre, gorgeous lobby and nice venues to have a meal or drinks.

There are three main reasons I am giving this three stars: the checkin process, the room, and the breakfast buffet.

After a long, hot day of traveling we arrived at the RC Osaka. We waited in line to check in for quite some time. Although hotel staff were bustling around us, no one offered to help with our backpacks or bags, or offered a cool drink while we waited to check in (it was close to 100 degrees f that day).

Once checked in, we wearily walked to our room to find some type of party in the hallway. Doors were open between rooms, food and suitcases were in the hallway, children were running, babies were crying, and adults were talking loudly. We asked to be moved to a different room as we could hear the racket from our room, and didn’t want to walk through the party every time we entered or exited our room. It took quite a while, and by this time it was quite late, but they moved us to a lesser room that was at least peaceful and quiet. This process took an unreasonable amount of time.

In the morning, we went to the breakfast buffet, which was quite crowded. The problem with the buffet was that, for most of the dishes, there were no plates to rest the tongs or spoons on after getting your food—they rested back in the food. It’s very unsanitary and unappetizing.

Aside from these issues, which might seem petty to some, the hotel is beautiful, but very formal, and seems a bit dated to me.

There is classical music playing throughout common areas, velvet chairs and sofas, and beautiful fresh floral arrangements throughout.

We spent two full weeks in Japan and stayed at several different hotels in four cities—all at the same level as the RC Osaka. Of all the hotels we visited, this one was my least favorite and the only one to which I would have no interest in returning.

I booked ritz in Osaka for two night to unwind after a hectic 10 day tour of Tokyo and Kyoto. The idea was to relax and unwind. Nothing went right from the moment we reached the hotel. I had two rooms booked, but they couldn’t find a way to provide us rooms next to each other. When I questioned, the staff asked “did anyone guarantee rooms next to each other”? We had food that needed warmed up. I asked for a microwave. They said they cannot send microwave but someone will be right up to pick up the food. An hour later, I called downstairs, they said someone is coming right up. Another 15 mins, I called again. Then someone showed up who took 30 mins to bring everything back (which is fine). Day 2.. same situation. I called and was told someone will be right up. An hour and two phone calls later, someone comes up. I asked to speak to the general manager. The staff couldn’t understand what I am asking for. I understand Japanese is their first language but it was impossible to communicate and staff would pretend to not understand if they didn’t know what to say. Compare this to a four seasons.. this nonsense would never happen there. Anyways, lessons learnt.
