Mimaru Kyoto Central is the gold standard of Japanese hospitality, modern convenience, and top notch location. The jewel in the crown is its front office staff. Roy, Seth, and Yuki make you feel like family returning home rather than tourists figuring out somewhere new. They are warm, friendly, and filled with advice about the area. The convenience of the abundantly available coffee/tea/sake/beer is one of those touches that gives the stay a true vacation feel. We have traveled throughout Japan - and none of our hotels compared to Mimaru Kyoto Central. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back if we are fortunate enough to return to Kyoto. It is truly the best of the best in an already incredible city. If you go, please say hello to the wonderful front desk family. You will never find a friendlier team of travel buddies. From an extensive traveller from Hawaii: A perfect home away from home at a bargain price! If you want to have a spacious apartment that’s homey with great location, outstanding service, and an excellent bargain value, look no further than the Mimaru Suites Kyoto Central. Our family of four had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, washer, dryer and furnished kitchen in a tastefully designed apartment that we loved (room 401). The staff was incredible. It didn’t matter what we needed, they were like concierges that made it their mission to have you completely satisfied. Chiara and Shie worked hard to find us last minute accommodations in Tokyo that would meet our needs when my reservations fell through. Jungmin suggested wonderful special events for us to attend, Seth helped with our bike rentals and had them delivered, and Natsumi made great recommendations for our special dietary needs. We enjoyed the sake and beer happy hour, the coffee, and extra effort they all made. Roy, the manager, sets a great example, as he personally called many restaurants to find us gluten free meals. Not easy. They were all genuinely interested in how our day went and even came over to greet us when they ran into us on the street. I wish all hotels had this kind of staff. They made our trip to Kyoto very special.

Our stay at Mimaru Kyoto Central was just all across excellent. From the location to the amenities to the staff, it was just a great experience for our family.
First, the location was great. It's not on the touristy side of Kyoto but it's near Nijo Castle and Nishiki Market. There's a metro station exit around 100 meters away from the hotel putting it within stops of Kyoto station and a 7/11, Family Mart and Lawson all within 2 minutes of walking. Plenty of cafes and bakeries around too along with several food options both lower and higher end in price. With all that, it's on a quiet more residential street so you can certainly still relax and be away from the hustle and bustle quite easily.
Second, the room itself is great. You don't come here for luxury and it certainly isn't luxurious. But anything you need, it's available and functions well. At this price point, you have 2 bedrooms, one with an en-suite and a second toilet and bath too. The fridge is big so you can stock up on your Japan favorites. And a small but very functional kitchen with all the basics - burner, microwave, toaster, kettle and cookware and utensils plus the chance to rent for free grills, takoyaki makers, etc from the front desk. The washer and dryer was great and they are generous about providing detergent too. The sitting area is fantastic and you also have a tatami room. The beds were quite low but very comfortable. You don't get daily change of sheets, but trash is collected daily.
Third, there's coffee , lemon tea and other teas available at the ground floor 24/7. In addition, you can also access free beers and sake at certain hours, which we enjoyed. Apart from shampoo, conditioner and body/wash, no other single use amenties are available in the room but they're free to take as needed too at the ground floor which is a great way to prevent wastage.
Lastly, the staff was just great. They were all very welcoming and eager to help. Cici in particular was so nice and kind to us and we very much enjoyed discovering common music preferences. I also need to mention that we accidentally left some items in the hotel and they very kindly facilitated the shipping of those items to us.
All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel and I myself look forward to coming back again.

The room was extremely comfortable with two separate bedrooms, two showers, two toilets, and two baths. The kitchen was also great for preparing a quick breakfast before heading out. The living room was a great place to wind down at the end of the night! The staff was friendly and always offered assistance, whether to find a good restaurant or suggestions on our sightseeing plans. Mr. Ikeyama was incredibly knowledgeable about Kyoto and the surrounding areas and had recommendations and fun facts about everywhere we went! Seth had some spot on restaurant recommendations. Yuki was quick to help when we encountered a minor issue, immediately jumping into action. Chiara was also incredibly helpful at night fielding questions. All the staff were so fun to talk with! We felt sorry for getting in the way of their work with so much chatting. Also, there are a number of rental items, both for cooking and for having fun, and there is also a nice drink center in the main lobby. You can get coffee, tea, and water 24/7 and you can enjoy sake and beer from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Highly recommend drinking in the lobby and chatting with the staff! We had a great experience and couldn’t recommend it more!!

Absolutely the best apartment/hotel experience we have ever had. The rooms were amazing-huge with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen area, dining room, tatami mat area, and a washer/dryer. They had a humidifier unit, great heating and cooling units in every room.
We had the western style unit and our son had half western (2 beds) and half Japanese (beds on the floor).
The location was fabulous and the front desk employees were absolutely fantastic. We have traveled all over the world and stayed in some of the finest hotels in the world but never experienced customer service like we did here. They really enjoyed getting to know our family and loved kids. In fact there are toys in the lobby! The staff loved helping us in any way possible and they went out of their way to assist us with recommendations on places to go, change reservations for us, get taxis for us and were delightful every time we saw them. They could simply not do enough for us and our family. Side note: My husband was in the hotel business for over 20 years and said it was one of the best experiences he has had in an apartment/hotel.
We arrived with 10 of us in tow, 7 adults and 3 young children (ages 4, 1 1/2 and 1 3/4) . We had 3 suites which could not have worked out better. This allowed the grandparents to go out and about while the younger parents cooked breakfast and had dinner in house.
This Mimaru location had maybe 20 suites, 2 on each floor which was great as it allowed the kids to wander between rooms as they were in the only two suites on floor 5.
When we left today to return home, the staff gave our 4 year old a beautiful fan and chocolates. The younger child got a few chocolates as well.
As a side note, My husband enjoyed the free beer, sake and coffee 24/7.
We cannot wait to return and will absolutely never stay anywhere else in Kyoto.

The hotel itself was lovely; well-appointed with amenities, small comforts, regional decor, and clean, spacious accommodations. This particular MIMARU is in an ideal location, just around the corner from easy access to the two main subway lines in the city, plus convenience and drug stores, restaurants and retail.
What made this a 5-star stay for us was the team of hotel employees, from front desk to housekeeping and management, who all went above and beyond to care for us. Two of the guests in our party experienced health challenges during our stay, including one who had to visit an urgent care clinic. Because of this, I wanted to cancel our dinner reservation at a nearby wagyu steakhouse for the following night, being unsure if we could all attend, and wanting to avoid a costly cancellation fee. The restaurant was closed on the day we tried to cancel, so they could not receive our call during the permitted cancellation period. Also, my Japanese language skills are rudimentary, at best. Not only did the front desk staff (especially Chiara) help to translate my email message to Japanese the night before, but they followed up the next day by calling the restaurant to secure our cancellation without penalty. This was a huge relief for us after a very stressful experience.
Even without the special assistance detailed above, we found the hotel staff to be friendly, approachable, and cheerfully accommodating. The fact that they are multi-lingual and knowledgeable about the local area is a bonus. We would definitely return to this hotel. Thank you very much, MIMARU Suites Kyoto Central!

Great accommodation. Although it is hidden in an alley, the transportation is very convenient. There are also delicious Yuguang Ramen and delicious bakeries nearby. There are also convenience stores, drugstores, supermarkets, and a department store within a few minutes' walk. ;
The guest room has a good environment, with a spacious Japanese-style space, living room, dining room, 2 suites with double bathrooms, a spacious bathtub, and a washing machine with washing, drying and drying facilities. Staying here is very relaxing!
The service staff are polite and courteous, and the origami space next to the counter has different theme classes every day, which is very interesting!
There is a self-service bar in the reception area, and you can take it back to your room to have a few drinks. It is really thoughtful and I am already looking forward to my next trip!

Impressive service from staff
Very cordial, like friends, and feel comfortable getting along with each other like family members
It’s really great to be able to recommend local attractions, restaurants and provide honest opinions😍
Leaving in the end was like parting from a friend, and I was a little reluctant to leave...

First of all, I happened to encounter a small Halloween event when I first checked in.
I got a lot of delicious snacks
The room environment is also very clean and spacious. It is suitable for families to stay together.
You can play cards and board games together in the small living room and dining table in the evening!
The lobby provides alcohol, coffee, and tea, so you can have a drink in the evening.
There are also very special kitchen utensils such as takoyaki, rice cookers and many more!
If I had more time, I would want to stay in the hotel because it’s so comfortable…
Overall, the brand image is very good
If I have the opportunity to go elsewhere, I would also give priority to MIMARU

Fantastic base for our 8 days in Kyoto. We had a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment. Small kitchenette which worked great for light meals, and a washer /dryer in the room. Nice living area to hang out in,
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They provided us with restaurant suggestions and made reservations which was a good thing as over the new year holiday most places were closed. The hotel even provided us with packages and instructions for making the special New Year soba on New Year’s Eve.
The location is very close to the subway and we found it very convenient to restaurants and still walking distance to shopping areas. All the staff were fantastic so it’s hard to single out any but Sheie is one we will especially remember! Thanks all for a wonderful stay.

Yes, the 2 bedroom suite has air conditioning in every room and in the common areas.
The temperature is controlled by the guests through the air conditioner remote control.
The lower temperature setting is 18°c. The air conditioning does not automatically shut off. It's possible though to set a timer.
