I what it lacks in prestige makes up for its amazing location in the heart of Kyoto, with access to all public transportation and walks to some of the best places to see and eat in the city.

The welcoming lobby with free coffee is a great place to rest and hang out to chill with friends. The staff are very friendly in guiding you how to check in and out and ample supplies for the bathroom are available for you to grab. That body wash towel is surely helpful which I don’t even see in 5 star hotels. The breakfast is appetizing but we opted out due to our early.l morning walks.

The rooms are small typical of tourist hotels in Japan but it is very clean. Besides, Kyoto is a walking city so little time is spent in the room.

Stay here last year and one year later, decided to stay here again!
Booked 3 nights.

Came in from Osaka and getting to the Hotel was easy. From Karasuma Station, went to EXIT 11, and the Hotel was right there! Check-in was swift, via the machine. There were amenties that you could help yourself with, like bath towels, comb, etc. You could help yourself to free hot beverages.

The room was not big but cozy. The 3-night stay was enjoyable. In many Hotels I stayed overseas, taking a hot shower would usually be a challenge. In Japan, in this Hotel, taking a hot shower was a breeze!

The staff were helpful and helped me arrange for courier service of my luggage to Tokyo.

The Hotel is in a great location, with lots of shops and eateries. Very near to Nishiki Market. Transportation to nearby attractions was also easy.

Kyoto has many Hotels to choose from. My heart goes out to this Hotel.

Will be back again!

The first surprise about the Forza is the entrance. It has a doorway between shops, and the reception is down an escalator in the basement. Look for the ‘Rolex’ sign if you are walking from any of the nearby tube stations. The room was compact ,but it was bigger than our Tokyo hotel room, and the bed was comfortable. Everything about the hotel, the room and the public areas were spotless. We enjoyed the Western style breakfasts every morning, bacon and egg and mushrooms with bottomless cups of coffee. All the staff were helpful with adequate to good grasp of English. The location is good with the large Tomamarchi shopping arcades just across the road. We would be very happy to stay there again.

If you get off the bullet train at Kyoto and take a 2 stop metro ride to Shijo station you are within 500m of this hotel. Don't drag your luggage along sweltering streets to get there - as we did on our first day - but head to the North exit within the station, through the ticket exit, up the short flight of steps straight ahead of you, and turn right. You will then be in an underpass which links the metro station directly to the hotel itself, at exit 11. And you won't have to cross any roads, or see the harsh light of day.

The hotel itself is well maintained, and stylish. Our room was surprisingly - for Japan - roomy, with a little seating area tucked away into a corner alcove, which meant you could sit outside the traditional rectangular shape of the room, and look into it.

Breakfast was adequate, but the cooked food not that warm. At peak times, you might struggle to find a table of your own and have to sit at the big central one with others.

The breakfast room became a lounge for the rest of the day where you could sit and meet up with other guests. You are allotted tokens on a daily basis which you collect at reception from late afternoon onwards to help yourself to Sake from a dispenser at the back of the lounge. Also available there was fresh ground coffee from a machine offering a great choice of types. This was available all day. In fact, I would walk a few metres from the breakfast area to grab coffee from this machine because the breakfast coffee available from within the breakfast area was sub-standard. But be prepared to wait, as it is a very popular machine, but worth a wait for those double espressos.

Finally, I did feel that the reception staff were a little bit cool and disinterested compared to the 'way over the top bowing and smiley greetings' observed in other parts of Japan. I kinda got used to that over the top style of greeting and rather missed it in this Kyoto hotel.

Location is good, and if you use the underpass connected to the hotel, walking to the Geisha district or the Metro station is even easier, East or West along the main road above you.

This hotel is along the famous Shijo Dori street. You can take a train from Osaka, Umeda station and arrived at the Kawaramachi Terminal (40 minutes at 480 yen). Look for the Takshimaya Central Exit and you will locate the street.

The hotel room is bigger than expected and well kept. Apart from the basic toiletries, additional ones are to be picked up from the check in area.

From the hotel you can take a five minutes walk to Gion, the famous Kyoto street. From the Gion Shijo station you can take four stations (280 yen) to Inari station to visit the famous Senbon Torii (the red pillar gates). You can also take take a five minutes bus (Bus 207) to the Kiyomezu-dera from outside the hotel.

Excellent location close to many attractions and train and bus stops. Nice double room with great shower and a window that opens. Staff are very friendly and patient- we had a few take away meals and drinks in the restaurant area with no complaints. No restaurant other than breakfast but not an issue. Very quiet and pitch black until you open the curtains.

Booked 3 nights in Kyoto and decided on Forza Hotel Shijo Kawaramachi.

Check-in was swift but the lady staff could not speak much English, though.
The room was not very big and opening up 2 big pieces of luggage was quite challenging but manageable. There was a mini fridge but no safe deposit box.
I like the access to free hot beverages in the lobby area.

The location of the Hotel is great! It's right in the middle of the shopping street. There is an Exit 11 from Shijo Station that is right to the Hotel (a distance to walk, though)

The famous Nishiki market is just a 2 minutes walk from the Hotel. Lots of shops and eateries near the Hotel.

Across the road on the short distance right, you can catch buses (at the Bus Stop) to many sightseeing spots within Kyoto.

Though this was not my original choice of Hotel in Kyoto, I found the stay in Forza Hotel cozy and comfortable. In fact, I love it!

Will I stay at Hotel Forza Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi again? Of course!

Perfect location, a few minutes walk from Nishiki Market and shopping. Fifteen minutes brisk walk to cross the river to the Gion district. This hotel is part of a chain, well managed, has wonderful service with comfortable rooms and a spacious restaurant area where they serve a sumptuous breakfast buffet. There is a green tea matcha machine in the lobby area where you can get cups of frothy match that is very popular.

This location was about 15 min walk from the train station as we were coming from Osaka prior. The location is perfect as it's near several stores and markets. I paid a little more for breakfast buffet, and it was well worth it.
We had 3 single beds, which worked out fine so that each of us can get a good nigh rest. Overall decor was very modern and nice.
We also enjoyed the free coffee machine where they had this matcha drink.

We stayed at the Hotel Forza in Kyoto and I cannot adequately say how pleased we were. The reception staff were so helpful and courteous. The complimentary coffee, matcha machine in the gathering area offered us a lovely way to relax after a day of tourism.
It was meticulously clean. It was quiet. The location was ideal. The space was more than adequate. I couldn’t believe my find! And I had two family critics to please. They couldn’t say a word!
