Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

It is close to the airport. Otherwise a typical Chinese 2-3 star hotel but overpriced for that. Not to be recommended if you do not need to stay close to the airport.

I stayed in this hotel as the traffic in the Guangzhou area is terrible, and if like me you have an early flight a stay close to the airport is recommended. I too had issues with my credit card not being accepted by the card reader. My bank card was refused so I rang the UK to check and they said it was this end.. eventually the blooody thing worked. The room was adequate but the bed was hard. I had a buffet dinner and by carefully selecting the food I had an excellent dinner. The coffee though was disgusting, it looked like mud and must have been stewing for hours. I skipped breakfast and ate at the airport. I would only stay here for one night in the future. Good shuttle bus to the airport laid on.

I had a short stop-over at this hotel on my way to Guiyang in June 2009. The hotel facilities are excellent and the staff is friendly, however, no one is fairly fluent in English. This was frustrating as it took my an hour to check out of the hotel as the staff wasn't sure how to communicate and process the bills.
My advice is that the staff are trained in some basic English in order to cater for Western people.
Unfortunately, I didn't use their restaurant or other facilities.
The foyer of the hotel looks nice and it is a very nice display. I also enjoyed the fact that they have a free taxi service from the airport. They should keep providing this service.
I would stay in this hotel again if I travel to China in future.

I stay at this hotel every week (my company makes me stay here) and I feel the need to warm anybody wanting to stay on this hotel to move on and find another hotel that is cheaper and better.
This hotel have staff that do not care as the management is non existent, the rooms, although large, are dirty and smell like old fruit, and the entire hotel is filthy... There is curdled milk underneath fridges and inside cabinets, mould all over the shower curtains and as for the irons and ironing boards, they are so old and broken if they do ever work (which is 50/50 chance) they will RUIN your clothes.
The spa have good quality Chinese massages but there is only ever one girl working so if you go with somebody, One will have to wait. Sometimes the spa is open but the staff are on holidays so nobody can have a massage! It's laughable.

The buffet restaurant is so disgusting there is no words to describe the food. I have taken photos as proof. If you want to stay close to the airport stay at the Pullman.. Or even sleep under a tree outside and it will be more comfortable and cleaner!

The beds are all very Chinese so they are hard as concrete. If you don't want back problems.. Don't stay here.

This hotel is not for non-Chinese. Here's the story

1. Shuttle scheduled to meet us at the airport arrived only after we called and waited 20 minutes
2. Staff couldn't speak english. I wanted to know if they had a place where I could work out - my question was greeted with a blank stare. So I used every synonym I could think of for Health Club. When that didn't work I was asked to write it down: "Health Club" and "Gym" didn't result in the slightest glimmer of recognition. I'm told by people all over the world how easy it is to understand me because I speak clearly and slowly when around non native English speakers. This was exasperating.
3. Credit card issue could not be resolved - they demanded a PIN. That credit card never needs a pin. Never once did the receptionist offer to get a manager or find someone more capable in english. We finally called our China sales manager to translate. But the issue could not be resolved
4. Restrooms in the lobby were traditional squatters
5. All in all it was the most frustrating hotel experience I have ever had, anywhere in the world. I will say though that through it all they smiled the whole time.

And after awhile I realized that this hotel is not designed to support non-Chinese and we weren't a match. We would be happier somewhere else and they would be happier if we went somewhere else.

We went to the Pullman, a little more expensive, but quality of registration experience could not be compared. The Pullman is a fantastic airport location with great service, you'll be happier there if you can live with the higher price.

Modern, luxuriously finished, with all modern facilties, but there is a catch. None of the charming staff speaks English. So it's all smiles and "charades" when trying to get basic information like the location of the restaurant. Check-in takes forever because of the language problems. I was literally the only person in the restaurant from 8pm until 9.30pm and when I got my meal I could see why. The "inclusive" breakfast buffet had no juice, no cereal, no fruit, no cold milk, and coffee was extra ! I planned to spend half a day relaxing in this hotel, but actually I just checked out early and sat in the airport lounge instead. One other point. Guests at breakfast seem to have a nasty habit of spitting on the floor of the restaurant. Not one of the better experiences all told.

Stayed here for a night for a business trip.
Wasn't collected from airport as flight from PVG was delayed. Check in was very slow due to poor English and issues processing credit card.
Room was large but no mini bar except for a bottle of Chinese red wine? Shower didn't work at all.
The buffet breakfast had no juice, coffee or fruit selection.
I will not go back to this hotel.

Service was terrible- despite not requesting much, we always felt like we were bothering the staff, most were pretty grumpy. The one time we called down to the front desk, no one ever answered, so after 20 minutes we gave up and walked down. The room smelled musty. The wifi didn't work 90% of the time, anf the staff didn't seem to care. To top it off, we were overcharged based on what we were quoted from here...I like to throw myself into local culture, but this isn't the place to do it. The only real plus was the shuttle. Just wish we had been made aware of it before we took a taxi there.

Airport hotel with free shuttle.
Room was run down (or shabby in the first place), loud and stinky.
Just rollaway beds, many damaged spots in bathroom.
People at reception do not speak English, at least Putonghua, not only Cantonese.
Breakfast was Chinese and o.k..
I would have expected more from the hotel of China Southern Airlines, the second biggest carrier of PR China

We were given this hotel by China Southern Airline as we had missed our connecting flight at Guangzhou. Although we were upset about the flight leaving us, The hotel experience made it a little easier to handle. Services, cleanliness were above expectation. This could be the hotel to go for if we visit Guangzhou again.
