This hotel is a basic, concrete block which serves its purpose, but there's nothing luxurious about it. It's very old fashioned and could do with a regeneration project. The staff all seem to be somewhat abrupt, what we would consider verging on rude, but I think this is a cultural thing rather than anything else.
The room was large enough for two people and the bathroom was nice although the hot water took about ten minutes to heat up for a shower. It took me two days of cold showers to realise this. There was also a nice balcony. The views from the hotel were really nice and its situated in a lovely piece of parkland. The minibar was quite disgusting to be honest. I don't think the inside had been wiped in several months and the seal was very dirty. The general cleanliness of the room was pretty good though. One negative was that there were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, which we would have liked.
Considering this was not one of the cheapest places I found, I think I'd look elsewhere in the future for the price we paid.
The bar downstairs seemed never to be manned, and when it was, it always seemed like you were a nuisance for asking for a coffee. However, as mentioned before, I think this is just a cultural difference and there seems to be a lack of the Western superficial hospitality that we're used to.
They could do with adding a vending machine or something to get snacks/drinks.
We didn't eat in the restaurant as we wanted to explore the city.

Great location, on Cetatuia hill, so you have the view over the city. Excellent location, clean rooms. I appreciated the cleaning service. Room was small, but i expected since this is a hotel from the ‘80’s. Breakfast was good. All in all i enjoyed the stay.

The Belvedere Hotel is located in the top of the hill overlooking the entire city, next to the city centre. It has good accomodation, with larve rooms, free Wi-fi and parking, sauna and pool. The breakfast is ok, bufet type.

I have emailed this hotel several times, called and even sent texts to their mobile to inform them that I was charged twice for a night on Thursday 30th September.

I had an early flight the next morning and on the evening of Thursday 30th September, I wanted to pay my bill early to avoid the wait at the desk. When presenting my card I was told by the attendant that the payment had not gone through. So I opted to pay in the morning, the same attendant was present.

When returning home, I noticed I had been charged twice. I have my bank statement to prove this and noticed two payments of GBP 41.71 and GBP 41.86.

It is now the nearly two months later and this haven't even bothered to reply to my email or refund the money.

This is without even commenting on the hotel quality, can you please refund me my money!

Lee Winstone

Please can you refund one amount?

We had to stay 1 night in Cluj when we where traveling around and we booked 1 room at this hotel. The room was good, the bed was great and the view was awesome! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast and it was decent, nothing extraordinary, but it did the trick (there are 2 servings, one where you had a fruit, yogurt and some pastry and the second one with eggs and bacon). Nothing to fancy but judging for the price everything was great, would stay again when I will visit Cluj.

We went for a city break with our grandma. Conditiona for accesibillity and the eooms were excellent. The hotel is great and the views from the room are amazing. The breakfast was nice and you can have breakfast on the terrace in fresh air. They have a gym and pool which are excellent. The have a big parking lot with free parking. We will definitely come again.

Loved this hotel, because it's a real experience - an authentic communist relic with commanding views of the city. Maybe the Romanians hate it because it reminds them of the bad old days, and that's why we had the place almost to ourselves. Highly recommended

Old communist hotel with very very poor accommodation conditions! At the breakfast were flies everywhere! 🤢
In the room and on the hallway smelled like old carpet. The staff was not very friendly in the restaurant. The furniture is old!

Catastrophic service. Waiter does not want to help when there is no free table for breakfast, others look unfriendly, guy at reception rolls his eyes when talking to the guest - unbelivably bad service. Breakfast is not good.
Old rooms, almost not dirty, but the whole atmosphere is like from an eery movie set in communist times.
Pool is not a hotel pool! Heaps of screaming children in swimming classes - no relaxing swim possible. Nasty loud music from the fitness center - everywhere in the lobby - we did not book to sleep in a fitness center!
The view - okay, but this is first time I did not feel safe in Cluj, not even inside the hotel. Weird, unfriendly, unmodern in all its senses - staff definitely needs serious training on how to behave with tourists!

I was booked into another hotel in Cluj, but upon arrival they said they had no record of my booking ! Thank you Romanian hotel booking site ! But the recepionist managed to get me a room at the Beledere (due to a last minute cancellation) in another wise sold out Cluj due to a big Campions League football match that night v Chelsea. The recepionists all spoke good English and were very helpful and friendly. My room on the third floor had a balcony and a great view across the whole city.
It was spotless and obviously newly refurbed, bathroom immaculate, with instant hot water and a lovely shower.
The only strange thing was a single "duvet" on a double bed ! But it was meant to be a single room, and I paid single room prices.
They was a great choice of hot and cold food for breakfast. The bar shut too early at night though
I enjoyed it so much I stayed for a second night !
Yes it is at the top of a very steep climb, but the taxis are so cheap and plentiful, use them.
Nice bar halfway down the hill

I am a tourist like you, not part of staff. Slaughtered meat you mostly find in the countryside in Romania, not in cities, as slaughtering is forbidden by law since EU entry. There are still peasants in villages that slaughter. Hope this helps
