Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

It was a great experience from the fishing to the food, everything was perfect! I would highly recommend this resort; the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. I caught the biggest fish ever.

Excellence can't begin to describe the trip! From being greeted at the airport and throughout the trip every detail is perfect. The boats and gear is the finest. The captains and mates are highly skilled , yet you are in a tropical forest and a bountiful ocean current over 100 miles from anything. If you can think it , they can make it happen. We repeatedly caught and released trophy sized marlin & sails . But caught a huge " Gringo Killer " ( 135 lb yellowfin tuna ) " it's what's for dinner" and sent some to the local village ! Shots at swordfish, inshore monsters like cubera snappers, up to 70 lbs and big beautiful rooster fish. The food is 5 star

After watching the DVD on Tropic Star hundreds of times over the past decade, only visiting can do it justice. The fishing was phenomenal with 4 of us getting our first billfish. The rooms were incredible. Restaurants and bars had wonderful rooms and drinks. The absolute best is the staff. I feel like we made a second extended family that I can't wait to come back and see. Until next time my friends!!

Dear newk08, We couldn’t agree more that video of Tropic Star Lodge just can’t do the actual experience justice! Thank you for taking the time to leave your review of your recent trip and kindly mentioning the lodge-side amenities as well as our staff. Congrats to your group on your first billfish! As we like to say, you arrive with a handshake and leave with hug. Can’t wait until next time! Best wishes, Richard and Mallory White

First of all, I would give 10 stars if there was such a thing. This trip to the Tropic Star Lodge was so memorable and special. Right before we came here my husband was diagnosed with cancer. But my husband still insisted on coming with our best friend regardless of the diagnosis. Well, he made the right decision. We told the doctors to hold on for treatment so we could make his bucket list come true. This helped him so much spiritually. On top of that it made him so happy spending time with his best friend and me. He and his friend talked about this for the past 27 yrs but being in military 32 yrs and being deployed over and over again they finally made it this year. I came along to spend time with him and take care of him and of course our best friend. So here is what we ALL

Being a retired professional Captain/Sport Fisherman, my husband isn’t easily impressed but he thought the entire operation at Tropic Star was outstanding!! He was targeting Black Marlin and caught one 750#!! I’ve been in the hospitality industry for many years and was equally impressed with the service levels, lodge appointments and amenities. The dining options and service, as well as the spa were wonderful. The management team is on top of every detail and went above and beyond on all levels. The comradery among the guests is also something you don’t often experience, there were so many like minded and interesting people. Definitely one of our best vacations ever!

I call it an experience because I've just had one of the best experiences of my whole privileged life! I've been to the best hotels in the world and they now look superficial when compared to the Tropic Star experience. What a hotel! What amazing friendly and tireless service! What amazing fishing! And, finally, look at what they do for the local indigenous population and their unspoilt tropical rain forest surroundings! Simply incredible!

Tropic Star Lodge is truly a magical place! If you get the chance don't hesitate Go! Experience of a lifetime! We fish a lot but this place is by far the best. Tons to do besides fish and even if you fish every day they ensure you have opportunities to visit villages. We were able to release sea turtles too! Highly highly recommend! Even though very remote it is very family friendly and the staff and other guests all feel like family soon after you arrive. Food is fantastic and service is beyond exceptional!

My third visit to TS. Everyone welcomed me back with friendly smiles. I brought my new wife Gayle along so she could enjoy the spa and reading beside the pool. I was fishing for 4 days and she enjoyed 2 of them with me. Now she knows what an emotional adrenalin rush it is. The final day we boated 3 Sails and several Dorado. Walter my Captain and Weimer worked their butts off for me to find the elusive Marlin. The South wind made it tough to find them. I can't say enough good things about the staff. Paterson is still in charge of one of the greatest bunch of waiters (Marvin, Richard, Noel, Abdiel, Edgar and Brandon). They are always offering a smile with their service. Shout out to Lezlie, Ross/Paola, Rex and the friendly dockmaster (forgot his name). Also Gabriel and the

Dear Canuckontariothe2nd Thank you for your feedback. Lovely to hear that your wife Gayle enjoyed the shoreside experience as well as the fishing. Better luck next time with your marlin, the weather has been strange and the South wind is not the best for blacks, the North wind has set in now so hopefully next time! Paterson, his waiters and the rest of the team you mention strive to ensure you have the best experience and a great trip, thank you for your awesome comments and we look forward to your return!
