I was there last July and caught a monster roosterfish and returned in search of a big Cubera Snapper last week. My first fish was a 118cm 75# Cubera! Captain Candello and Mate Romero also put me on 8 nice tuna one day and 5 sailfish the next day. The real thrill was catching them all on light spinning tackle! The entire facility, staff, and food was above 5 star expectations. Very friendly guests joined together for dinner each night. It is such a magical place, this old Green Bay Packers season ticket holder even made friends with a Minnesota Vikings fan!

My daughter and I had a fantastic time at TSL.
As always, the main event is the fishing.
The captain and mate were friendly, professional, with excellent equipment.
And lots of enthusiasm.
The lodge itself continues to shine with respect to food, services, rooms, attention to details,
And individual requests.
My daughter and I have been lucky to fish many places and TSL ranks first.
We already booked to return in a year 😊.

Went on a 'boys trip' with four guys in September. We decided to 'go big', renting 'The Palace' room and fishing on the 45' Hatteras The Polyanna. The trip exceeded our high expectations - EPIC all around.
Our captain Fidel was awesome - he and his crew extremely knowledgeable and fun to spend the days with.
Staff, service, and quality of food amazing all around.
And the fishing was off the chain - 9 blue marlins, over a dozen sails, and monster mahi and yellowfin.
Definitely a 'bucket list' trip, and one that we will try to do a few more times in the coming years getting out for the different seasons.

Hi glnavarro, thank you for taking the time to write this fantastic review. We are glad to hear that your experience exceeded expectations - that's exactly what we aim for at Tropic Star! Congrats on your catches - it sounds like all of you guys left with some serious bragging rights in tow. Fidel is an amazing captain with a great crew, and we are thrilled that you had the opportunity to fish with them and share in their intimate knowledge of Bahia Piñas. Thank you for checking Blue Marlin season at Tropic Star off of your fishing bucket list - we can't to welcome you back to check off the rest.

I am privileged to have fished and visited the most exotic locations in the world and this tops them all. The enthusiasm radiates from GM Richard down to those that clean your villa. The staff from the first hour of arrival knew my wife and my first names. The food is superb esp considering the remoteness (104 miles from Panama City) of the location. Our Capt put me on six Blue Marlin to 350lb, seventeen Sailfish, fifteen Dorado with two at 60lbs and two YF Tuna all in five days. We toured the local Indian village where most of lodge employees live. How interesting to see kids and families interacting and happy in spite of what some may define as sub-standard living conditions. My wife who doesn’t fish was on the boat with me each day and said at the end, the trip exceeded all of her expectations.

My 80 year old father and I had been planning this trip for years, and it did not disappoint. Accommodations are nice — I wouldn’t say luxurious but high quality, clean and comfortable. Food was consistently very good and the marlin bar was a great place to unwind after a day on the water.

Fishing is the star of the show. Four days on the water yielded a Cubera Snapper, three Rooster Fish, four Dorado (Mahi Mahi), two sailfish, a Pacific Tarpon, and a Blue Marlin.

The staff and crew were absolutely amazing.

Highly recommended.

Our Tropic Star experience was amazing!

From the moment we were met at the airport in Panama until we were returned to airport, we were given a first class experience.

The accommodations are amazing. Our suite included a lovely outdoor garden shower, wonderfully comfortable bed, and delightful balcony with gorgeous views. It was immaculate.

Our days began with fresh hot coffee delivered to our room.
The staff prepared delicious breakfasts in the restaurant each morning before we headed out for a day of fishing, enjoying a variety of excursions or amenities the lodge has to offer.

The lunches, dinners, desserts, and snacks were delicious and plentiful.

I can not say enough about the excellent service provided by all the staff members. They go above and beyond and pay attention to every detail. They strive for perfection and they nailed it!

We are already planning a return trip.

Superb staff training is evident everywhere at Tropic Star. I have fished the world's best resorts and to sum it up, There's Tropic Star and then there's everybody else! Sparkling clean rooms and dining. Gormet dining. Fabulous bill fishing and in shore fishing for exotic species galore. 31' Bertram fleet, Superb Captains and Mates made this the best trip of my life and a "for sure" return destination. They are very well prepared with equipment and are excellent at anticipating your needs and accommodating every request. Everyone can have a pretty website but these people deliver!

I have heard about The Tropic Star for years and wanted to go. Treated myself to a 70th Birthday present there. It exceeded my high expectations. I went there to fish in the rooster tournament. The day before I caught a 400 lb black marlin and partner got a nice blue. Caught several roosters. Food, drinks, rooms, service were all outstanding. Incredible all that they are able to do in this remote jungle environment. I am not the most experienced salt water fisherman, but they made me feel right at home as did the other guests.

I've wanted to go to Tropic Star for about 10 years and finally pulled the trigger, along with my wife and two of my sons, this spring. After reading reviews, speaking with previous visitors, and talking with staff at the lodge I thought I had a good grasp of what to expect but it absolutely EXCEEDED all of my expectations from the moment we stepped off the plane in Panama city to the day we flew back home. The lodge was amazing, the food was amazing, the people were amazing, and the FISHING WAS AMAZING! If you've questioned taking the family on this trip DO NOT hesitate. The biggest compliment I could give is the attention they gave to my wife and sons. My wife could honestly care less about fishing but anything she or the boys could dream of, or the staff could dream of, was at their fingertips from the time we stepped onto the resort! We loved the conversations with other guests as well as all of the staff and look forward to visiting again soon!

We have a variety of onshore activities for non-fishing guests including massage treatments, trips to the beach, a freshwater pool, excursions to a jungle waterfall as well as adventure activities like kayaking and paddleboarding. We also provide tours in the local village.

Hi there from Tropic Star Lodge! Sorry for the delay as I just saw your message. This Lodge is appropriate for a 10 year old or small fry angler. Sailfish, Roosterfish, Dorado, small Yellowfin, and various species of Snapper and inshore species are a thrill for any 10 year old to catch. He'll learn patience out on the water and also the thrill of hearing the sound of a reel screaming. Our expertly trained crews will guide him safely through reeling in a fish and navigating the boat. In the summer months kids under 16 years old fish for free. We've turned many children into avid anglers here at the Lodge. In addition to fishing, we have a beautiful hike or boat ride to a secluded pristine white beach great for swimming and snorkeling, we also organize kayak trips through the mangroves as well as a hike or bike ride to a gorgeous waterfall we have on property. And as our guest mentioned above, we also have a nearby village for guests to visit. After fishing kids also love to chase our resident lizards and crabs. During the summer months we also host hermit crab races, ping pong and pool tournaments if groups are interested. Thank you very much for your interest in Tropic Star Lodge and we hope to see you soon. Kind regards, Mallory and Richard White
