Easy place to camp, protected by big trees on the side, flat grass/sandy areas to pitch tents and also cabins to rent for a bit more comfort. Small shop for a bit of food and also hire bikes, which you can cycle around the entire ~50km circumference of the island. I recommend a visit to the village of Vao along with some of the other beaches besides Piscine Naturelle. If you speak a bit of french, chat with some of the locals. Very friendly and open folks.

The Isle of Pines is a lovely place to spend a few days, it's sparsely populated and has little development. This makes the Isle a great place to relax and enjoy. The Gite is a 5 minute drive from the ferry terminal and about 20 minutes from the airport. It's situated amongst overhanging trees and is about 100 metres from the soft, sandy beach. We stayed in a traditional bungalow for 3 nights, which was comfortable for 2 but may be a squeeze for 4. The bungalow has a kitchenette with fridge and stovetop and lots of crockery, glasses, pots and pans etc. We brought some provisions with us from Noumea. The shower was good but the main bed is a double and is a tight fit for 2. As you are "in the country", there's a few roosters that compete for the loudest "crow" during the early hours. We ate at the restaurant one night and the food was excellent. We also booked a journey on a pirogue with lunch, at the gite, and then on to the Piscine Naturelle and that was a highlight. We really enjoyed our stay at the Gite. It was quiet, relaxing and something a bit different. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

I had a fabulous stay at Nataiwatch - it was exceptional and I can well recommend. The staff were lovely, the meals in the Restaurant were outstanding (love the Tuna Steak!!). The bungalow was very comfortable and it was sooo close to the most beautiful beach. Make sure you ask about ALL the tours as the boat tour across to the Island with Lobster for Lunch was a highlight as was the Outrigger boat across Upi lagoon. The staff arranged to take my bag (which I left at Reception in the morning) to the pickup at the end of a day/boat tour and dropped me at the airport at 3.30 ready for my 4.30pm flight which was fabulous. Cannot recommend this place to stay enough. Right on the best beach/s and amongst the more expensive Hotels as the best area to stay..... You will love your time at Nataiwatch, I cant wait to return!!

This is hard to rate because there are a lot of positives and negatives mixed up. The Isle of Pines is truly gorgeous. It might be the nicest beach destination I have ever seen. The complex is full of rich green foliage and it’s only a short walk down to the water. On the down side, our bungalow was very stuffy and the lack of air-con made it hard to sleep at times. Food is also a very mixed bag. The breakfasts were very basic and lacklustre but the dinner menu was great. Overall, this is a great place to stay but the food and services are frustratingly inconsistent.

We had a fabulous and enjoyable stay at Gite Nataiwatch. The location is unbeatable, Kunamera beach is at the doorstep. We stayed 2 nights in a 1-bedroom bungalow, which was very private and quiet.
Breakfast was fine, pizza dinner was great and sandwiches lunch was perfect.

The people of Isle of Pines and Gite Nataiwatch are very friendly despite the fact that we can't speak French.
We rented a bike to see Vao, and we also hiked to Pic Nga. On the last day we took the outrigger boat across Upi lagoon, it's a great trip. The Natural Pool is really an amazing place for snorkelling.

Highly recommended to stay at Nataiwatch!

On the Isle some months ago, picked the right place. Be wary with the Ferry, it can be cancelled. If arriving by air, pick up from the Gite easy to organise, no other way. Bring as much booze and food as practical. Acquire baguettes locally. Very limited selection in the couple of local "shops". The Gite is basic, but clean. Rent a car from them for a day. Also byo mask and snorkel. Food pricey, bungalow option with breakfast recommended, enjoy at least one evening meal at the Gite.

A good place to pitch a tent. Hot showers, good restaurant, and the beach is within walking distance. They organise trips on the pirogues and to the piscine naturelle. It's easy to settle the bill with a credit card at the end of your stay.

I was recommended to go here by the tourist infirmation office in Noumea and it certainly was a good choice. Ile Des Pins is very worthy of a visit with beautiful scenery, stunning pine forests, white sandy beaches, all surrounded by clear emerald water.

I arrived by Ferry and a courtesy vehicle picked me up and took me to the Gite, only a short distance away. Check-in was friendly & seamless and I was given my bungelows location. It was an original style Native Burr and clean & tidy. But defanately 4 star.

Bicycles were available to guests so I rode some distance on both days aquainting myself with the island. Dinner in the restaurant with its sandy floor was available table d'hote style and three courses of excellent tood served. I had a bottle of wine but was not allowed to BYO, so settled for water. I think house wine is available but none was offered.

The night was hot and sweaty on the single bed which had a plastic mattress cover. A persistant mozzie in the room did not assist.

I stayed only one night and moved to the Meridien at the other end of the island, as the Gite was fully booked fir the next few days.

My partner and did a quick 2 day trip of the ile des pins over one weekend, staying at Gite Nataiwatch. We had 2 tours booked on both days and were pressed for time.

We found that Gite Nataiwatch were fantastic from start to finish. The people at the front desk all spoke English well enough to communicate with no issues and we were able to clear up a few questions before we arrived.

The restaurant was fantastic with both an amazing 3 course dinner and complementary breakfast in the morning. For 500fr each, they made us some amazing sandwiches we were able to take on our tour of the Natural Acquarium.

The room itself had everything we needed and was comfortable for our stay. Everything was as pictured and we felt was very good value for money.

After having a few troubles with organizing our stay, arrival and general planning with other places in New Caledonia, we just found staying at Gite Nataiwatch effortless. We were very happy with our stay.

What I enjoyed the most was probably the human touch of this place! When you are in Isle of Pines, you expect a big touristic business and what I found in this gite was that the human contact made this experience the best!
The staff is friendly and helpful, giving you advice on where to go and what to do without giving us the most expensive tours nor the most expensive rooms.
I loved everything about it!
And do dine at the restaurant, you wont regret it!!
