Detailed Reviews
Everything about Old Town Inn was perfect. The room was clean, the food was delicious and the staff and management were very helpful and friendly. It made our vacation perfect. We did a sunset cruise and we got to go snorkeling a few days. The beach is just beautiful.

I had a wonderful stay at old Town Inn . The team is really awesome , they help me to book the flights ,boat transfer , they were answering all my questions before my booking within 5 minutes . Once booked they took care of everything . I had someone waiting for me in Male for the transfer and on my way back also. Food is really good , room spacious , clean and they offer various excursions too. I had the time of my life snorkelling with the Old Town inn team around the island . Old time Inn is a very affordable way to visit the Maldives. Hospitality, professionalism, fun and paradise are the best words to describe Old Town Inn. I will miss that place and highly recommand it .

During the last week of December 2018, I spent a week in Gafaru with my Family. We stayed at Old Town Inn in the Village, together the Maldivian Friends who manage this small, nice and new Inn. They were marvellous days: we were really happy to spend time with our Friends in such a special and wonderful world! We hope they enjoyed as well to have us, European, as guests!

#1. the island is getting full of motorbikes, although it's only 300m long. It's ridiculous. A few times, we were walking on the island and some Maldivian on motorbike came rushing 5 centimeters from us. Not a good feeling.
#2. in the week-end, the Maldivian come to the beach that is adjacent to the tourist beach. They throw their garbage in the sea (plastic bags, bottles, food). The stream brings the litter to the tourist beach. Very disgusting.
#3. The walls of the hotel are so thin that we could hear the person in the next room snoring and farting.
#4. We got sick several times from the food served there.
#5. The wifi is so bad, that we could not even send an email. It was 50kb/sec. Youtube at 144kb did not work. They lied to us saying that it was normal in the Maldives. It is not. There phones for instance have 2Mb/sec (we checked). We had to pay a local to use his wifi to send an email for work.
#6. The mosquee is super loud at 4am. They will wake you up every morning with the sound of the prayer.
#7. There is no fish in the sea of the tourist beach.
#8. Some Maldivians are constantly sitting in the guest living area sofa near the TV of the hotel, so it's difficult to spend some time there. They are loud and spending the wifi of the hotel.
#9. The island is infested of crows (several hundreds of them). They live in the roof of the hotel. They make some much noise at 6 in the morning that they will not let you sleep.
#10. None of the staff ever cared about our complains. It's basically none of their problems.
#11. There is only 1 restaurant in the island. It's full of flies. Very dirty.
#12. The staff is constantly trying to sell excursions.
#13. Bad smell from the toilet.
#14. The aircon was making a broken noise at night. Not for light sleepers.

Response from SoggiornoLowCost, Direttore generale at Old Town Inn
Responded 5 Dec 2019
Dear Benoit, I am sorry that Your stay at our guesthouse doesnt like to You. This is very strange as you can see from the other reviews we received. I state that, as you will have seen, you have stayed in a small town and not in a resort so you have to submit to local customs and not to those of an international resort. 1) In our country the scooter is a very widespread means that each of us always carries with him, when he can; 2) Unfortunately, as we have seen in many foreign countries, citizens sometimes throw garbage on the ground. Unfortunately, is a serious worldwide problem, not the Maldives. We always clean the streets of our island and the beach, as You can saw; 3) In the Maldives the buildings are built in this way; 4) It seems strange to me that this is derived from food. It is probable that you are not used to spicy food, you could have asked for it and it would have been served to you without any problem and without any extra charge; 5) unfortunately, as you have correctly been told, it is quite normal; 6) In the Maldives, and in many other countries of Muslim faith, it is normal; 7) It is strange because the lagoon is full of fish. Even more strange is that they have been far from the tourist beach!!! 8) It's another way to stay in touch with our guests and talk to them, as long as they feel like it; 9) In all the Maldivian islands it is so; 10) What you wrote is very strange, given our past reviews, as I have already written to you; 11) As you also said the island is small, how many restaurants should there be? In the wet season it is normal that there are more insects; 12) We try to offer guests the opportunity to visit new places beyond our island. But no guest has ever told us that we are insistent; 13) Unfortunately it can happen, for example in bad weather days. I believe it happens everywhere in the world; 14) Unfortunately, some air conditioners sometimes make a little noise. I think the next time it is better that you decide to stay in a resort (better if in a big city far from parks/churchs/mosques … ) in order not to be in contact with the customs and the Maldivian population which, apparently from Your review, doesn’t like to You. Best regards PS: given the statistics of Your reviews, I think You are simply a denigrator.

+1
We are a family of 5 and so had 2 rooms at old town inn and stayed for 4 nights. We all loved our stay here - the staff were all amazing - so helpful, and our rooms were great - very spacious and modern and super clean. Breakfast was great and we ate dinner every night there as we liked it so much and thought it was very good value for money. We went on a dolphin excursion organised by the hotel and it was fantastic.
When it was time to leave, we went to catch the public ferry that was cancelled at the last minute and the owner organised a speedboat for us immediately- nothing was too much trouble. We are so grateful to everyone who works at old town inn for helping make this an unforgettable holiday and we love Gaafaru and hope to return to old town inn in the future.
