We had 5 nights in a suite here - great stay!
The suite has lounge access and it was all worth the money! Afternoon lunch at 14-16 and "bites" + drinks 17.30-19.30. I'll now call it the dinner buffet. Some of the food was really good, other we were not so impressed by, most drinks were good and there was a new drink menu every evening - my favorite drink was "dark and stormy".
Very nice staff. The lounge has a stunning view and the sunset can be ⁇ from here.

The suite was large, so plenty of space for us 3 - there was both a bathroom (with bathtub, shower, 2 sink and toilet) and a toilet. Beautiful beds with nice bedding, good cleaning and strong wifi. Missed a proper closet for clothes, but otherwise everything was perfect.

The pool was good - located on the 2nd floor, so sometimes you could smell that there is a market right across, which sells fish and fruit/vegetables. On the weekend there were many in the pool.

Breakfast: the first days we ate in the lounge - it was fine and they were good at making pocketed eggs, but the selection in the ground floor restaurant was better, so there we ate the rest of the time.

Eaten a single meal at "Favola" - Italian restaurant and it was delicious.

The location of the hotel is very good - there is market right across and if you turn right when you come out of the hotel and walk 300 m you get to the fish market, where you can buy everything in seafood, which is prepared on site - I got grilled tiger shrimp and they were fantastic.
To the right there is a center with shops - very local. There are also plenty of places that offer massage at a good price - can recommend Calamansi (apply for Yen)

Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu has a great location, within walking distance to the waterfront, Gaya Street, and shopping malls. I’ve stayed here several times, and each visit has been as wonderful as the first. The hotel is kept in excellent condition, the staff greet us as if we’re coming home, and we intend to keep coming back.

The front desk team—Ricky, Malcolm, and Shirley—handled my booking, room assignment, and check-in efficiently. I’m always happy with the room they assign me; it’s clean, bright, and offers a nice view.

I spent a lot of time on the club floor, which provides a fantastic sunset view along with evening cocktails. Lauren, Regina, and Peter make excellent cocktails and always serve with a smile. They are readily available if you need anything from the lounge. Chef Daniel prepares delicious soups, especially the beef soup, chicken soup, and prawn soups. He always shows me the ingredients, which include carrots, onions, celery, and meat. (Is not a microwave instant soup)

Sometimes, I notice that my room is exceptionally clean, organized, and chill compared to other days. I found out that Norma goes above and beyond. She rearranges my charger cables, organizes my toiletries, and moves some of the unused hotel toiletries to maximize basin space. She adjusts the lighting and more. Her efforts make the room feel more comfortable and relaxing. It’s always refreshing to step into a room that feels so well cared for. Thank you, Norma!

I’ve dined at Favola several times and love the steak, especially with the new chef preparing it. The exterior may be burned, but it’s medium-rare inside. Personally, I prefer a stronger taste, and when I mentioned this while ordering, the result was excellent! The same goes for the tuna appetizer and the Bolognese pasta. Well done, Chef Awang and the steak chef!

Lastly, if you get to know Rizan and Rodney, two assets to Le Méridien, this hotel will always be your first choice for accommodation in Kota Kinabalu. Both of them are exceptional at making guests happy, ensuring you’ll want to return again and again.

We stayed 7 nights at Le Meridien as the first of our stops in Malaysia after visiting Japan. Its proximity to the airport makes it a short 10 minute drive and we were warmly greeted at Reception by Cedric who was very welcoming and friendly. We had stayed at the hotel almost 10 years ago and could see that plenty of renovations had taken place.

Our suite was very spacious and well appointed and although we had a city view it was lovely to spend 7 nights here. The bathroom was huge and there was a second toilet/sink for our son to use also. We went up to the Executive Lounge on arrival and were again taken away by the breathtaking views you get from here. The club lounge had moved and been expanded since we were last there into a fabulous place where you can see the most amazing sunsets and just look out onto the wonderful ocean and harbour. We have visited many club lounges over the years and you will struggle to find a view that is better than this. Peter welcomed us warmly and looked after us well throughout our stay demonstrating his warm personality, professionalism and efficiency. We preferred to take breakfast in the lounge as whilst choice is limited there is plenty to choose from and the chefs (particularly Daniel) do a great job preparing eggs and noodles. Eating breakfast whilst looking out at the views was just fantastic and we did this most mornings. The cocktail happy hour from 5.30 - 7.30 was also very enjoyable with some hot dishes to choose from, alongside soup noodles, salads, cheeses, fruits and deserts. Cocktails are changed daily and Peter or Yuven will make you any drink of your choice from behind the bar. Beer and wine is also free flowing during this time. What really sets the lounge apart though are the fabulous team of staff who work there. They all provide a friendly and professional service and do all they can to look after you. A special thank you to Elvina who provided us with so much local information, Yuven (great (and strong) gin and tonics!) Harith and of course Peter!

We spent some time at the pool which is mostly shaded but there are some loungers near the front where you can still catch some rays. The hotel is truly exceptional and we really loved our time there. Its majestic location in the centre of KK and on the waterfront makes it a great choice to explore the surrounding area. We were sad to leave and hope to return again one day.

Dear MellyF75, Thank you very much for your glowing review and also for choosing us as your home away from home once again, particularly after such a long time! We are thrilled to hear that your seven-night stay was enjoyable and that your suite, especially the bathroom and the view, exceeded your expectations. We are also glad that you enjoyed the pool and our hotel’s central location, with local markets and shops nearby. We thank you also for recognizing our associates, Cedric, Peter, Daniel, Yuven, Harith, and Elvina, for their exceptional services. It is located on the beach in the center of the city, on the left and right of the city map (horizontal) distributed by the Sabah Tourism Board Information Center.
There are many restaurants and shopping facilities within walking distance, and the ferry terminal to the outlying islands is also within walking distance.
I stayed in a sea-view club access room, and it was strange that the club lounge on the top floor was relatively clean, even though the windows in the room were dirty (it can't be helped since there are rain showers almost every day). They were cleaning the windows with a gondola while I was staying there, so I guess I got a room just before cleaning.
I don't think it's 50 square meters, but it's a spacious room.
The only problem is the bathroom. ① Even if you try to use the hair dryer after taking a bath, there is no outlet around the sink ⇒ In front of the full-length mirror outside the bathroom.
② The pumps for shampoo, body soap, etc. are fixed to a separate shower booth, and there are none on the bathtub side. In the end, I ended up not using the bathtub.
The lounge is excellent. I feel like they could do a little better with the afternoon tea snacks, but the meals at breakfast and cocktail time are substantial.

A Great Resort with a great excellent customer service by Reezie who went above and beyond and made us feel at home.

We have just spent a days at this resort.. What a fabulous hotel!

The hotel is large yet it still feel personal. It is spotless and every member of staff from front desk to the lifeguards at the pools were so very friendly and couldnt do enough for you.
The hotel is quite close to everything and within a walking distance into eveything including restaurants.

Rooms are fabulous, large and spacious. We were lucky to be in room 6042 which had a view of the of the city with a spacious room.
The bed was large and soo comfortable
Room facilities were excellent; safe, iron, coffee machine, kettle, fridge etc.
Bathroom was a big size with both a walk in shower and a fantastic large bath and enough towels to arm a small army. Every evening approx 6pm, staff came to the room to ensure that we had enough clean towels, coffee etc. Excellent service.

Facilities in the resort are excellent.
An adult only pool as well as a childs pool with slides with sunbeds and pool towels always available Spa.

Just wanted to send our big thanks to Reezie for making us feel at home.

My wife and I have been traveling through Southeast Asia over seven months, covering seven different countries and more than 210 nights across 27 different Marriott properties. Throughout this trip, we have never encountered a more dedicated, professional, and visible management team than at the Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu. Initially, we had booked a 13-night stay, but the exceptional service prompted us to extend for an additional 21 nights. The senior management team, Mr. Suresh Ramasamy and Pavin Ravindran are remarkable in their relentless energy and passion for this hotel and their team. They are consistently present during breakfast, engaging with guests and staff, and can often be seen late into the evening in the lounge, ensuring everything runs smoothly. A big thank you to the front desk; Reazie, Noava, Shirley, and Cedric for their assistance and welcoming smiles each time we returned. The breakfast spread at this location is diverse and delicious with options from local to western favorites. Anna, Katie, Rodney, and Roger are a blessing to the F&B team led by Mr. Mohd Fadzil. The rooms in the hotel are spacious and well kept. Thanks to Rizan and his staff. Beds are very comfortable and the TV’s are the largest we have seen in a hotel :) If you book a sea view room you won’t be disappointed. If you have Bonvoy status and have club lounge access you will be amazed by the food in the lounge (shout out to Chef Daniel and Chef Katy), the staff; to include Laurian, Peter, Christina, Yuven, Regina, and Elvina are extremely friendly and professional, and you will get a front row to the amazing sunsets. Also, try out the rooftop bar for delicious cocktails and those same stunning views. We were thrilled to get a chance to participate in the “Chef On The Go” program. Thank you to Chef Chua and Chef Awangku for keeping us in line in the kitchen. This hotel isn’t far from the airport or any of the tourist attractions. You are within walking distance of the pier, shopping, nightlife, and restaurants. The hotel can help arrange trips for you if needed. In our opinion this hotel will tick all your boxes and leave you wanting to come back again.

The hotel is conveniently located in KK. We are currently staying in room 1408, which has a view of the city. The room is very spacious, with a comfy bed and a large sofa in the room. The bathroom is of a good size and the rain shower is very good. Plenty of amenities in the bathroom.

I really like how the hotel provides 2 large glass bottles of water each day, plus they have fresh water stations throughout the hotel.

Breakfast in the main restaurant has plenty of choice, too much to choose from. The only thing that is missing is a fresh fruit juice section.

The pool is a good place to relax, although the sun only gets onto the pool area around 12 noon.

As our room comes with lounge access, we have been having breakfast in there most days, although the selection is limited, compared with the main restaurant, it has everything that you need, plus lovely views out to sea. What makes the lounge outstanding is the staff. A special thank you goes to Regina, Laureanne, Peter, Daniel, Myrene and
Elvina. After just one day, they knew our preferences and always made sure we are well looked after. Between 5:30pm and 7:30pm the lounge offers a good range of food, Australian wines (2 x red and 2 x white), plus freshly made cocktails. The only things that is missing is prosecco and a good selection of cheese (something that my wife always looks out for). Outstanding sunset views as well.

All staff that we have come into contact with, are a credit to the hotel. We still have 2 days left and we are glad we chose Le Meridien KK.

Profile
A well deserved 5
This hotel should not be missed if visiting KK.
These days finding a hotel that meets all your expectations is hard to find.
From the modern and clean rooms to the food and most importantly the staff which makes all the difference in making a stay memorable or not.
We had the pleasure of choosing this hotel once again to host our sons engagement.
May I say they always do even more than what you even ask and are very much into detail.
The food was to dye for A La carte and the whole set up was lovely including an amazing experience in our own private room very elegantly decorated,l must say a big thank you to Rodney and all the staff that were
involved.
A personalised touch with professionalism goes to Mr Rizan that always looks after our stay and always remembers our needs as a guest,he is a true gentleman.
We stayed in a Seaview room with club entry rooms have glass windows from ceiling to floor, so you don't miss the beautiful sea view, very spacious, modern and clean.
I recommend club as you have entry all day/ night for light refreshments ,Tea/ coffee, cold drinks ect...big variety of meals in evening all included in club excess good to have with family and kids. Also amazing views as you're having your meals.
Breakfast you can have in clubroom or down stairs we choose down stairs as you have a Hugh variety, freshly squeezed juices of your choice and cafe style coffee. Staff are wonderful and always greet you with a smile.
Hotel is centrally located close to markets, shops and restaurants.
I highly recommend this hotel!! you only need to stay to experience it for yourself.
Thanks to Management and staff for always making our stay very memorable.

First of all let me say that we really enjoyed our stay. The room was just fine, the view was amazing, the pool was good and the restaurant (we only had the breakfast buffet) was very good. The location couldn't have been much better due to it's proximity to the markets. The hotel staff were all excellent and we were very happy with the price.
The only negative things I have to say are some minor condition complaints. Our room needed to have the carpet cleaned and the sofa needed it's upholstery cleaned. There was some minor touch up needed in the bathroom with grout and calking that is common in many hotels. These are simple fixes that have to be done to earn a 5 star review. Please understand I am not saying it was dirty but an hour spent in the room by maintenance staff on those simple things would go a long way.
Over all we very much recommend this hotel.

I feel a little shallow rating this 5*, as I feel a good deal of my satisfaction of The Meridian came from the feeling of pure luxury after the wildlife lodges! The room, bed, pillows all very comfortable; great shower. It’s in a downtown location & we enjoyed wandering around the food markets opposite the hotel - biggest fish market we’ve ever seen.
It was a wet evening & we’d been travelling all day, so decided to eat in the hotel. Word of caution - the main restaurant doesn’t serve alcohol - we didn’t realise this, so were a bit miffed but, the manager used his initiative & offered us a room just outside of the restaurant, where we’d seen what looked like a conference party earlier. I had sea bass (with a glass of wine!) & can hand on heart say it was the best I’ve had in probably 40 years!

Dear jan59Essex, Thank you very much for your kind review! We are thrilled to hear that your recent stay with us was enjoyable, especially after your wildlife adventures. We are also delighted to know that you found your room, bed, and pillows comfortable - there’s nothing like sinking into plush pillows after a day of exploration! It's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed strolling around the city and exploring the local markets, all from the convenience of our hotel's location. We are also pleased to know that our associate went above and beyond to ensure you had a memorable dining experience, especially with the sea bass, which you described as the best you've had in 40 years! We appreciate your feedback regarding your experience at our restaurant. We would like to clarify that our main restaurant is halal certified, which means that alcohol is not served in order to maintain our commitment to halal practices. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. We appreciate your understanding and are glad to hear that our manager was able to accommodate you in a nearby room. Thank you once again for your review and we look forward to welcoming you back for another enjoyable stay, hopefully soon! Kind regards, Nurqamarina Guest Experience

Yes I believe the kitchen serves halal food only and is popular among Muslims. Also hands down one of the best buffet breakfasts I ever had

I remembered that there are connecting rooms available. Nonetheless, better to email to the hotel to seek enquiry before you book as Nov and Dec are peak period for travelling.
