Check in is norm. Just one swipe card is provided. Big restaurant and lobby with prices of rooms (ours rm160) range from rm98 to max rm175 which is very cheap considering the free breakfast included 4pax and it is peak season. Access is via two lift and ours on 9th flr. Corridor is carpet...like any old hotels tends to have smell. The room is bigger than any hotel in downtown measuring 13ft by 26ft with a king and a single bed, with wide view of the hills including the adjacent Sacred Heart Church.
Room (initially smells musky) carpet with 2 rattan sofa, table with flat TV, wardrobe, electric kettle, (pay for addition water bottle), norm coffee and tea sachets. Toilet is quite big but has a small shower cubicle. Water pressure is strong but no heat. They announce it is under repairs....huh...you wont be freezing here either.
Restaurant food is adequate with noodles and steamed chicken and egg stall...just be early because it tends to runs out pretty quick and they needed time to replenish.
This hotel has a very convenient carpark, access from the rear hotel and connected directly into the hotel lift to the rooms...meaning you wont get wet and only a short 30ft walk from your car. It is free to residents. The roadside impromptu parking bays in front of the hotel is subject to council summons.
Clean? Nope. Far from it. Big? Yes. The size is good for family. Access? U need a car. Food and security? 6 out of 10. Price per room? The best so far. Cheers
Bathroom was mouldy and badly fitted. Broken fitting.
Food was passable but limited. Staff need training, manager needs to smarten up premises and may need replacing. What a waste of a of potential.
Would not rate as 3 star. Will look elsewhere on next visit. Would not recommend to a friend,
I tried staying here because it was closest to the Sacred Heart church and beats staying in a motel.
Overall I prefer this place better than my previous stay at the other TD Hotel.
I might stay here again if I got no transport to go to the city for festive seasons.
Days ago, I booked one night stay at TDP thru bookingbasic.com. Before I reach KK, I call them for confirmation. Everything seems off since then...
1) The receptionist doesn't sounds happy with my call. Oh don't get me wrong, I myself served in hospitality field so I do know what I'm talking about.
2) The room : IS A MESS.
I paid RM91 for the room so I won't have any high expectations but as I said earlier, I'm not a first-timer here but this time I feel so sad. The wallpaper......hm. I still can bear that so that's fine.
The soap handler is rusty and crooked. The hairdryer hose is not attached to the hairdyer (I don't even have the mood to fix it by myself after seeing that and went straight to the bed lol). The loose sink tap makes me sighed everytime I want to use it. I can see dust on the table clearly.
I understand I paid the lowest room rate but how could you let your guest sleep in that kind of unprepared room? At least I would appreciate a kind reminder about the room condition before I went in. Infact, I can get a better room at other place with the same price but I still choose TDP because of the familiarity.
My only fault in this case is not directly made a complaint and ask for help that day.
My family really loves this place, long time ago. I guess it won't be in the list anymore.
(Anyway thank you for the newspaper. I like that part)
To be very honest, when we first pulled up to the hotel it looked very dinghy, and we were afraid we would have to deal with inefficient service and dirty surroundings. The hotel is quite old, you could see from the worn out furniture in the lobby and dining area.
However, the staff members were friendly and I must say service was efficient throughout my stay. The rooms are cozy and clean. I had no problem with my room, but my colleague had to switch rooms because of water leaking in the bathroom. Otherwise, she also found it clean and the service pleasant. It was also peaceful and there were no disturbances (I slept very well on all nights). Rooms can be very dim because lighting is not very bright, but I was ok with that, it added to the coziness. Finally, Wi-fi does not necessarily work (we were given passwords and tried to login but it kept asking for voucher numbers, which staff confirmed was not necessary information, but did not get to use Wi-fi in the rooms because of that). Also, irons are old and burn fabric really easily if you're not careful in the way you use them (unfortunately they are of poor quality), and I ended up burning a scarf of mine I had ironed endless times before just at one touch.
Overall, it is clean, staff are friendly and helpful, and rooms are nice and cozy, no issues there. Thank you to the staff who tried as much as possible to be as helpful as possible.
