We stayed here for 2 nights at 2409. Arrived early for check in, and was given an early check in around 12pm (thanks to the staff for their consideration). Get into our apartment, and was suprised that the unit was so big, clean with nice view. The ambiance of the apartment was nice with partly view of beach and river. At the morning you can see the fisherman went out from the jetty nearby. The staff was friendly, polite and helpful. The only thing that can be improved is that the breakfast buffet. The food selection was okay, and by adding more, it will be excellent. But for the price that I've paid, i have no regret. I truely love my stay and will definitely consider Sanctuary again if I'm in Cherating.

... there is an island nearby the resort, called Pulau Ular, only takes 5-10 minutes to reach by boat. Well, that place is awesome, especially for those who want to fly fish the diamond scale mullet (Liza Vaigensis). It is an amazing sport fishing spot for any anglers who want unique fishing experience. Don't forget to practice catch and release for any small mullet below 800g, if you intended to take home the fish to eat.

We stayed for 2 nights in a 3-bedroom apartment. The mattress was so hard, i had problem sleeping at night. Heavy musty smell in the room. Water pressure sometimes was very low. The only think we had fun here was the pool. Kids had fun at the huge swimming pool. They also had free wifi (quite fast) which is another point of advantage. Other facilities was at downside. Despite the great view of South China Sea from our balcony, we do not use the beach as the main Cherating beach was far better then the beach here.

I am having a vacation in this hotel with by father .when we reach there are look like no other worker .the room, corridor, reception counter and receptionist is dirty and the toilet are leaking. The apartment there are very dark and same like ghost home. The owner same like to gardener and the bad fashion.

The room is dusty and dirty.. the water is dirty.. there is no spoon or plate.. even not all the light is function where most of the balcony have no light.. make it look dark and haunted. . The beach is dirty as well as the sea.. we did jot even manage to go to the sea..there is no breakfast in the package even though the price is extremely expensive. . the staff is unfriendly and rude.. the price is expensive which is not worth it at all. . The picture is 100 % a lie.. I hate this hotel so dammed much.. its spoil our family trip.. Never ever go there again..

Booked a 3-bedroom apartment (with 2 extra beds), Room 2201 for 2 nights in January 2012. The apartment is very spacious, but very old building & not well maintained. The rooms are very smelly, dirty, the water pipe system not in order, air-conditioning is messed up, need to be serviced. When we checked in, there’s a room (Room 2201) with a balcony with a broken lock! Meaning somebody could just climb to the balcony and walk into the apartment just like that. When I asked the reception how’s the security at the resort, they replied “at the moment there’s no cases.” I’m not convinced. And there’s no single security guards around. To say that it’s an “under average resort” would be an understatement. Easily the worst resort I’ve ever stayed in my life.

We are from KL, 3 families rented a 3 bedroom aprtment unit. When we arrived, the room offered were badly maintained (NOT maintained and cleaned for yearssssssss..........). We then complained to the receptionist and the manager. In fact, the manager is with the worst attitude, he don;t even wana look at you or discuss and to resolve the issues........ Lights in the room not functioning, door lock not maintained, seems like the unit had been broken into. Swimming pool filter seems not working. Water level in the unit/bathrooms are low, thus, halfway bathing, there is low pressure from the water inlet. When you flush the water, it's where the flash flood comes!!!! Bed not cleaned, and the quality of the bed is ...........
How can we have such Hotel rated with any stars? and operating with good feedback in tripadvisor..........BTW, we are NOT the only family that complained, many of the guests queue up to complained and I guess the customer service or receptionist are used to it!!!!
Good luck if you plan to stay in this hotel. I will NOT recommend it AT ALL!!!! Even if it is FOC!!!

After coming back from a holiday beach resort on Redang Island our family had decided to take the road back to KL and had booked in advance for an over night stay at sanctuary resort on our way back. Once we had arrived, we were greeted by a midnight barbecue and drinking party held by a large group of youths infront of the lobby playing intolerably loud music. We checked in and walked upstairs to a room and greeted with a broken door lock, a broken kitchen cabinet, ancient furniture, half used viles of soap, stained sheets, broken toilets with yellow water and much more. We had even seen cockroaches outside the room door.

At the point of my visit, no, the resort was not under renovation.
As for the second question, it might be our bad luck, but our room was kind of dusty and sandy too. The sink tap was broken, we couldn't get the kettle working without blowing up a fuse. There was a cockroach in one of the room, and despite having thee rooms for the three of us, we slept on the day bed in the living room thoughout the stay.
Thank God the air conditioners were working perfectly.
I don't know if things has improved since then, but given a choice, I would not stay there again. Not until I saw few good reviews came out after my stay.
There are more places to choose from in the Kuantan area.
