The interior of the hotel depicts the city and culture of Yokohama by displaying traditional Japanese aesthetics and Western design based on the concept of "East meets West," which is associated with the history of the port’s opening.

The hotel has an enchanting atmosphere and features 315 guestrooms, two restaurants, a bar lounge, a pastry shop, large and small banquet spaces, and a chapel with Swarovski® crystals. It’s simple but offers facilities and services that will meet all the needs of guests, providing a stress-free and comfortable space for seasoned travelers.

This is a very solid, well-located, but rather unremarkable new Hyatt property. Everyone working at the hotel deserves the highest honors for their professionalism and attention to detail. Without exception, the staff were lovely and friendly. Still, the concept of the hotel seems to favor special events customers, such as wedding parties, above regular hotel guests. The top two floors, which could be spectacular venues for a bar, lounge, or restaurants, are for private events only, and we were quickly shooed away just for trying to have a peek at the view. The Recency Club lounge is totally fine, but it feels cramped, and because of its location down on the 3rd floor, it lacks any kind of view.

Japan’s efforts to remain healthy three years into the pandemic get my full support, but some of the ongoing protocols at this hotel seem a bit silly at this stage. For example, dining tables featuring plexiglass partitions also have instruction placards depicting the correct way of keeping your face mask on while eating, dropping the mask just momentarily to take a bite of food. Only in Japan would something like this be embraced by the public.

Another strange tidbit worth mentioning was the warning notice printed on a small card atop the headboard in our bedroom. It mentioned that a hefty fine would be levied for damaging the delicate gold designs painted on the decorative wooden panels behind the bed. The room itself was tidy and modern, but felt small, as if everything was a few inches shorter than full size.

Overall, the Hyatt Regency Yokohama is a really nice hotel, just not quite as spectacular as it could be for regular guests.

Modern hotel with nice decors. Check in is fast and easy. Rooms are very spacious with bigger single bed. Bed sheet and pillows are clean, good and feeling fresh. The bathroom has both shower and tub on it. Separate toilet room. I have been staying in many Japanese hotels and I can tell they have better standard and quality giving the similar price. We enjoy the location where walking to the Gundam factory, China town are only 10 minutes. Take the TY line and get to Shibuya in 45 min directly. Going to Mt Fuji and close. Wish I could stay several more nights next time.

Terrible experience for any customer, and especially so if you’re a globalist.

The staff gave me a room key to a room that was occupied by another customer because “they didn’t check throughly”. I then had to wait in the lobby for them to sort this out.

Making such rookie mistake is simply intolerable for any hotel staff let alone the supposed-to-be prestigious Hyatt brand.

For all Globalist members, avoid this place like a plague not only because of my (hopefully) rare encounter but also because at Hyatt Regency Yokohama all globalists are treated like just another customer with no privileged treatments.

For the guest whom I have disturbed on Nov 5, I am sorry to have barged into your room. It was never my intention to disturb you.

We had room 1815 with views over the harbour and bridge. It was a large room, decorated in dark wood and black with lovely traditional screen behind a huge bed. There was an empty fridge, kettle and small cups/saucers, plus a desk, chair and chaise. the bathroom had a small, deep bath, a shower and a separate Toto. Lots of fluffy towels and bathrobes. Clever design with sliding doors allows it to be part of the bedroom or not. Wi-Fi good enough and plenty of charging options. Housekeeping was very good.
We had access to the Club lounge on the third floor, where we checked in and out. There are food offers in the morning and evening. Breakfast was a very good buffet including crispy bacon, scrambled eggs and fries. Evening food included popcorn shrimp, spring rolls, pizza, fried chicken and fish, burdock crisps. Alcohol between 5 and 7 including Asahi and Bombay Sapphire gin and tonics.
Location is good - a short walk to the station and two stops to the shops and a short walk to Osanbashi Pier, with great city views from the rooftop walkway.

Every interaction at the main desk seemed focused on upselling services and put pressure on me to spend to make my family comfortable.
My wife and I went down to the front desk for breakfast and were directed to the restaurant. but we were not allowed entry. Thus, we had to leave the hotel and try to find a healthy place to eat.

I booked a King room as a Hyatt Discoverist. On mobile check in I was upgraded to a King Deluxe room. On arrival I was helped by staff who spoke English well. Status was acknowledged and late check out was offered.

The room was nice. As expected of the Hyatt Regency brand it’s a definite step up from any Japanese business hotel. I was happy to find a snack and note from the manager in my room.

This and Hyatt’s Tokyo Bay location tend to be the more budget-friendly options as far as western chains in the Tokyo area. Tokyo Bay is better if visiting Disneyland however I find this location better for any other purpose. The hotel is walking distance from the Minatomirai Line where one can get off at Yokohama Station or continue to Shibuya or Shinjuku. For this reason this location is better even if you have to pay marginally more than the Tokyo Bay location. Yokohama itself has plenty of convenience stores, restaurants, and entertainment. Unlike Tokyo Bay this location did not have coin laundry as far as I could tell.

I will point out one perfect reason to stay at this hotel. Osanbashi Cruise Terminal is a mere 10-15 walk away from the hotel. Anyone going on a cruise from this terminal looking for a place to stay before their departure need look no further.

Go to Tsukiji in the morning for breakfast. The location is very central so getting around in a taxi is economical if you don't want to use public transportation. Getting a deluxe room is very spacious and worth every yen. You don't need upgrade for the breakfast because there are many eating options nearby.

Beautiful, spacious room, gracious staff, tranquil vibe. We stayed here for a few days after a cruise and the location was perfect. We were able to walk from the cruise terminal to the hotel in about 15 leisurely minutes, each of us rolling 2 bags. (We’re not kids—totally doable.) It is a short walk to catch the airport bus to Haneda,800 yen—super convenient, all luggage loaded into the belly of the bus.

The hotel looks brand new and well maintained. As a globalist member, I expected a better upgrade but was satisfied with the room I was assigned overall. The views were really nice, especially at night.

The check-in process was done in the beautiful lounge on the 3rd floor. However, it is a real pity it is not located on a much higher floor because there is basically no view right now.

The lounge staff was friendly and professional, especially a lady (from Australia I think) whose name I can’t remember.

For a Hyatt Regency, the tea / cake selection was really weak during the day. The quality improved for cocktail hours. Breakfast in the lounge was pretty disappointing. The selection was pretty limited and I don’t recall seeing grilled salmon, proper omelette or even miso soup. I’ve had more memorable breakfasts in 3-4 star hotels in Japan.

Nevertheless, I’ve had a better experience at the Hyatt Regency Yokohama than at the tired Regency or the overrated Park Hyatt in Tokyo.
