We made a good decision to stay at this hotel because it is located just across the bridge from the train station. We were able to drop off our luggage and start our sightseeing upon arriving. Our room has a nice view of the mountain with the trees changing colour and I can imagine how beautiful it would look in a few weeks. The clean and spacious room has comfortable beds. The breakfast though could be improved in variety and the self-served area was a bit crowed. The natural onsen on the 4th floor has an outdoor section surrounded by trees which is very scenic.

This hotel is conveniently located near the train station and it’s easily accessible.
I was very impressed with the colorful art work on the wall which displays the colors of the changing seasons. It was created in 1973 by Minami Tada and it’s been well maintained.
The public onsan in the hotel is divided to a woman’s section and a man’s section. If you have tattoos, you are not permitted to use the public onsans but you can book a private room with onsan facilities in it.
The hotel lobby also has a nice restaurant that’s serves delicious Japanese curry.

Located at a 5 minute walk from the train station, in a beautiful location is this hotel. The elevator takes you up to the hotel lobby. Hakone is lovely to explore for a night. The hotel has its own onsem baths. The western breakfast is served on a fixed menu and is pretty decent, not lavish. The rooms facing the stream are lovely.

This hotel is in a convenient location across the bridge from the Hakone train station so a good central point for doing the Hakone circuit. The staff is friendly and quite attentive. The hotel is tired and in need of a makeover. The pillows are quite firm (for a westerner). I enjoyed the onsen, but I imagined a hot spring in the forest - which it is not at all - just a couple shallow indoor pools and what looks like an outdoor jacuzzi. Still, very relaxing.

We chose this hotel because it is near the train station and we were arriving in the evening. Despite the convenient location, we would not stay here again. We arrived late in the evening (8pm) on a Friday night and we were disappointed in the available food options. Although the hotel has multiple restaurants, all of them were closed and the izakaya was supposed to be open but they were not serving due to a large party. The rooms were old, dirty, and smelled like smoke. The onsen was big and decent.

Excellent hotel with outdoor pool, indoor onsen and massage. We stayed in a Japanese room for 2 nights which was fun to try. The pool was often closed and there were a number of restrictions regarding use, eg no glasses and forced breaks. There weren't many dining options in town.

This is an ideal hotel to stay if you want to visit hakone. The train station and the tour buses operate from just outside the hotel. They have 2 breakfast options, the main buffet closes by 9 and the western fixed menu is open till 930. The hotel also has its own public and private onsen.

Faultless experience for the entire stay. Staff were friendly and accommodating of every request. Room is clean, functional and spacious and most importantly, quiet!! I read some other reviews of smoke smell, but I did not experience this anywhere. I used the onsen, booked a private bath and it had a great view and amenities. Everything is provided here, this is not usually the case with some Onsen hotels. Breakfast (Japanese) was quick, fulfilling and tasty. No complaints!!

A quiet hotel nestled in the green landscape with good air. Excellent food for dinner, weak breakfast as it was plated and, as such, limited. Nice and spacious rooms, beautiful and intimate public areas. In need of some maintenance in the corridors and some common areas.

Personally I think you should not spend all 3 nights in Hakone and instead spend 1 night in Kawaguchiko area at least.
No doubt Hakone is nice but I personally feel Kawaguchiko is a must visit. Nothing beats the feeling of waking up to the view of Mount Fuji. The beauty is something that can't be described and only through experience.
Yumoto Fujiya is good because its just next to the train station which is very convenient for you to do the sightseeing route of Hakone area.
I suppose moving hotels/ryokans is a good idea but only if your aim is to spend most of the day outside experiencing the various different areas. If you plan to truly enjoy the hotel/ryokan then moving to different hotels on each night is definitely something not worth doing as by the time you check in you've already lost half a day or so.

The hotel is near the train station, far away from the Mt. Fuji. Therefore, you cannot see the Mt. Fuji from the hotel.
If you follow the tourist map to do a day tour of the area, you may consider to go to the Lake Ashinoko where you can see the Mt. Fuji. Actually I was told by a friend in Japan that it is the best place to see the Mt. Fuji without going to high altitude.
