=Glamorous Japanese style accommodation at ancient Hida-Takayama Japan= * The hot spring from Jindai spring gushes from 1200m underground. It is one of the few hot springs among the local accommodations. Its attractive spring quality feels like a rich beauty serum. If you touch your skin in the spring, you will feel the smooth silky texture. This particularly appeals to guests who love moist smooth skin and makes them visit again and again. * We serve you the very best out of the great variety of local fresh foods with Hida local sake according to the seasons. Wagyu Hida Beef Steak is the most popular main dish. Our selected beef supplier brings the finest quality Hida beef to us. The local Hida beef is famous for its marbling pattern but has no extra fat, and its texture is so soft it almost melts in the mouth. The cooking method for Hida beef varies including steak, shabu-shabu and sukiyaki. Dinner is the KAISEKI(Japanese traditional course meal).

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights on our 2 week tour of Japan following 3 nights in bustling Tokyo The difference was night and day from being picked up at the train station on arrival shoes discarded at the entrance door and a complimentary welcome drink in the lounge/reception area Yuki was our hostess and attendant during our stay and showed us to our traditional Japanese style room with a futon on the floor for sleeping We dressed for dinner both nights in Kimonos supplied by the Hotel and were served by Yuki in our own private dining room where we also had breakfast. I counted 19 dishes on our first night and around 12 on the 2nd all Japanese food mostly raw and others you cooked on hot plates- my wife loved it all but as I am a bit of a fussy eater had to pass on the raw fish … the whole experience however was amazing On both days we had our first experience of an Onsen and also a foot spa with the Onsen a must when staying in the Hotel I would have added pictures but they are basically the same as everyone else has attached We had a private guided tour for our full day in Takayama and saw the old town again using the courtesy bus and visited a UNESCO World Heritage Site by bus 50 minutes up in the hills Sadly our stay ended and Yuki who was excellent during our visit and several staff waved us off on the bus to the train station for onward journey to Kyoto A must stay when visiting Japan

It is a Ryokan, but absolutely high level. We were greeted with extreme attention and with the typical Japanese ceremony. The room was beautiful and spotless, and in addition to all the amenities typical of a luxury hotel, we had an outdoor tub with hot thermal water (beautiful). The package also included dinners in a room dedicated to us. We also had kimonos available to use freely (we wore them for breakfasts and dinners. There is a very efficient shuttle service to the station and the market. We really recommend it

An immersion in a Japanese world Upon arrival, you leave your shoes which will be returned to you when you leave the hotel, someone will be there to welcome you. You will be taken to your room which is quite empty. The futons will be set up during dinner. Kimonos are at your disposal, and we dine with them. A parade of dishes follow one another for 1h30. We booked a massage (aroma therapy) which was perfect. A shuttle service can take you to the city center (your shoes are waiting for you in this case) And to know: it is possible to take a Western breakfast… I recommend.. We also tried the Onsen, and also a private family bath.. In short, a fabulous welcome, and two days of intense change of scenery. A must do!

This hotel is beautiful and we would have given it five stars but its location is so far away from any of the sites you’d want to visit. Our room was clean and comfortable and we had a private dining experience in kimono. The food was exquisite even if not all to our liking. Staff were kind and helpful at all times.
There is a small minibus which will pick you up at the train station. It arrived late. To find it you need to cross over to the other side of the station - the opposite side of the main road.

This traditional style accommodation was exactly what our family of 8, including an infant, needed after a long trip from home to Tokyo the day prior. We traveled by train from Tokyo in the mid day to arrive around dinner time. From the moment we were picked up at the train station in Takayama until we left 2 days later, we felt very pampered, well fed, well rested, and relaxed.
As you leave the van to enter the traditional style accommodation, you breathe in fresh mountain air and are surrounded by visual beauty, with integration of the landscaping, building, and decor making you smile and feel joyful. As you remove your shoes and don the special socks that are offered, the offering of coffee or other beverages appropriate to the time of the day, in the lobby area, helps you to just unwind.
Our rooms were traditional style with tatami mats and bed futons laid out at night. The onsen, hot baths, were incredible and I enjoyed going at least once each day, sometimes twice, to see the gorgeous scenery presented in both venues (men and women bathe separately and the rooms are switched each day so that you can enjoy both venues). It was my first experience with an onsen, and it was by far the best on our entire trip - the water was so soft and luxurious, the outdoor "scene" so zen, and the commitment to quiet was divine.
We found the experience with breakfast and dinner, in our own dining room together, so remarkable with multiple courses at dinner, each described in detail and the breakfast included a map of everything in front of us (for those who chose the Japanese breakfast option). The Western option included eggs and bacon, which wasn't clear in our travel itinerary from our tour provider, so we were pleasantly surprised to have that in addition to bread, jam, fruit and vegetables. For our family members with allergies, they were fantastic to accommodate us so that everyone had something good and filling to eat.
We slept well and were so refreshed in the mornings. There was so much attention to detail and so much to enjoy at the facility that it was hard to break away to explore the local village - but we did, and we loved that as well, including a hike to the top of one of the local peaks where we learned that they have bears in the Japanese Alps - so cool.

The meandering path through the bonsai garden says “you are home”. Upon arrival the staff line up to bow respectfully and you are assigned a personal valet.
Traditionally Japanese with tatami mats throughout and a luxurious onsen with outdoor and indoor pools, sauna and cold plunge. There’s also a hot foot bath next to the koi ponds.
Meals are exquisite with a couple of choices for each meal.
Rooms are traditional with a bathtub and shower. The view is nice, especially for being in the city.
Well worth the cost.

This was my first time staying here. I had a room with an open-air hot spring bath in the room, and meals were served in a private room. There were free drinks in the fridge. The food was delicious, and considering the cost of the accommodation, it was good value for money. The pond with the magnificent carp swimming in it and the lobby had a nice atmosphere, and the large bath with towels provided was also nice. There was also a warehouse-like indoor parking lot, which was very helpful the next morning as there was a heavy snowfall the night I stayed there. One thing that bothered me a little was the customer service of some of the staff. It is a little far from Takayama's old townscape, but it is a place I would return to.

We loved this ryokan. Admittedly we stayed in a western style suite which was absolutely gorgeous with extremely comfortable beds and spectacular finishings in the room, within a ryokan with all the traditional trappings - the onsen baths, a beautiful pond, private rooms for Japanese-style meals, etc. The service, food, ambience, etc. were all superb. The ryokan is not in Old Town but there's a continuous shuttle so it's easily accessible. This place was an absolute delight in every way.

The service of the hotel was impeccable. Staff were friendly and food was superb. The manager was very helpful when we asked for some ideas on where to go. For non English speaking staff, they tried their best to understand us and catered to our requests so we really appreciate it!
Not to forget, the onsen was also great with 2 outdoor bath and one indoor bath.

Great ryokan in a place that was way more touristy than I expected. Great food, very heavy on Hide beef, and huge size kaiseki menus, so be aware and perhaps ask them to scale down a bit in advance. Impeccable service, cleanliness, food, shuttle from and to the ryokan. One thing to point out is the quality of the water of the onsen, one of the greatest I've ever experienced. I would have loved for the men / women onsen to be switched on days vs morning / evening though.
