amazing stay ...
It was our second time in Hoi an for my wife and I, the first time, 5 years ago, we had booked a hotel right on front beach at Cua Dai and this time we wanted to be in the heart of Hoi An, by the Old Town.
By booking at the Royal hotel, we made the right decision because by scooter or by taxi the beach is only around 15 minutes away and to find yourself in the old city center it only takes you 5 minutes walk.
Our stay at the Royal hotel went very well. My wife and I felt very welcomed at this beautiful hotel from the start to finish, thanks to the General Manager, Michiel Lugt, Mandy at the reception and the rest of the whole hotel team. They have been very helpful with information on restaurants and places around to visit, they have made our stay at the hotel very pleasant, the service being smiling and professional.
The decor, the atmosphere, the food, everything was perfect.
it is a very beautiful and large hotel with an authentic and modern charm at the same time.
the restaurant’s outdoor area is very pretty, and the pool area is ideal at night if you want to relax while sipping a nice drink.
Staying 4 nights in this hotel has recharged our batteries, and it is without hesitation that we will return on our next visit to the beautiful Hoi An.
A very big thank you

We checked out today after a week here at the Hotel Royal. It is a STUNNING hotel. Absolute luxury! We had the grand deluxe king room and it was absolutely beautiful. The room is enormous and the bed is so big I couldn't even tell my partner was in it!
The staff were absolutely brilliant and despite the fact that it is a very stressful and uncertain time with the current Covid 19 crisis and there weren't many guests here, everything is still being maintained to an exceptional standard. Unfortunately due to government regulations the rooftop bar/pool, gym and spa were closed to guests but we didn't mind. The courtyard pool is beautiful. Breakfast buffet was delicious and there was a lot to choose from, today they did hot breakfast off the menu but kept the cold buffet section (given very minimal guests today). We borrowed bikes from the hotel each day and took ourselves on riding tours given no actual tours are currently running. The hotel is located within walking distance from the action but not so close that you're getting the noise and traffic. We would absolutely love to stay here again.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
Unfortunately we were given room 723 that did not look like the photos online. The room is next to the service elevator and I believe it encroached on the bathroom and caused the large king-size bed to be squeezed between 2walls with no more than 12" on both sides to access. After stubbing my toe twice I moved the coffee table. There was a trip point at the threshold of the bathroom and the vanity looked 1/2 the size of online photos.
The breakfast buffet was exceptional.

Dear showkit33048, Thank you for posting a review about your recent visit to Hotel Royal Hoi An - MGallery. I am disappointed to learn you found our room design inconvenient and I regret that the hotel team was not aware of this issue so we could looked in to possibility finding a more spacious room for you. However, I am pleased to know you loved our breakfast buffet and had an enjoyable time in Hoi An. I hope we have the opportunity to serve you on your next visit to Hoi An and I will be more than happy to personally assist you planning your stay. Best regards, Michiel Lugt General Manager

It was an absolutely lovely place. Great staff and location. My only problem was, too much furniture in the room. If they removed the couch from the foot of the bed, it would give so much more room. Either that or the coffee table under the window. No room to put our cases, had to put them in the bathroom. The door to the toilet was a sliding door, which also slid the other way to close the shower. Did not like this. Other than that, bed was so comfortable, good view out of window. Great restaurant. Meals were so nice. Yep my only beef was too much furniture.

A poorly designed and managed hotel - the walls are so thin you can hear your neighbor’s voices and their TV. The bathroom has semitransparent walls visible in the bedroom. Our air conditioning didn’t work on arrival till a mechanic came. There is a lovely pool but no visible service provided at the pool. A limited mini bar in room, made worse as no snacks - you have to call a number to get these. We called room service four times before getting through to anyone to take an order just for Pringles! To get coffee at breakfast you have to get someone’s attention to order one small cup at a time. What’s wrong with a pot or we help ourselves? The hotel is in total contrast to the well run hotels and boats we’ve stayed in elsewhere in Vietnam.

Responded 17 Nov 2023
Dear simonskevin0, Warm greetings from Hotel Royal Hoi An – MGallery. May I begin by offering my profound apologies regarding the issues you encountered during your recent stay which led you to award us a below average score, as I wish only that our guests leave us having enjoyed a completely satisfactory Hotel Royal Hoi An experience. There appear to be several instances where there was a lapse in our service standards for which I would like to genuinely and sincerely apologize. These service shortfalls have been brought to the attention of the respective department Manager’s to ensure they do not occur again. The hotel mini-bar does stock and provide a small quantity of soft drinks, bottled water and a local beer. This current offering in our mini-bars has been established as previously, a more extensive offering and stocking in both snack and beverages resulted in minimal sales. A full beverage list has been made available via In-Room Dining and listed in each guest room. The inconvenience you experienced with attempting to order the listed Pringles is not acceptable and will be followed up for immediate improvement. Your comments on the design of the rooms and experienced noise interference have been noted and management is working on some possible solutions to minimize some aspects you have mentioned. You are correct in reviewing that the bathrooms in our Wakaku rooms do have a frosted glass finish on the glass walls that enclose the shower and toilet facilities in the rooms, however the bathroom area is able to be screened off with privacy floor to ceiling curtains that enclose the whole bathroom space of these rooms. Our attention to service at breakfast on the two mornings that you were staying with us, were below our usual standard and I apologize for the delays you experienced in being able to order and receive your coffee. As an MGallery Hotel, our standard for coffee service at breakfast is table service with espresso made coffees of choice. We do have a self-service espresso machine available as part of the buffet offering, for guests to be able to make their own required coffee should they wish. All points aside, your comments have been taken on-board for full improvement and particularly on occasions when we have a high concentration of guests at one time descending on the restaurant for breakfast. May I end by thanking you for your constructive review and feedback and ensure that we have sincerely taken onboard all points raised for immediate rectification and further development of solutions. Kind regards, STUART MURPHY General Manager

The Hotel Royal is absolutely wonderful, our favorite hotel on our journey through Vietnam. The ground-level pool enclosed in a courtyard is wonderful, and smaller rooftop pool offers sensational views of the city.
Our favorite feature? Complimentary bicycles are provided by the hotel, so you can ride to nearby Ancient Town in mere minutes, the charming and popular shopping district.
The rooms are gorgeous and spacious, with balconies and well-appointed bathrooms. The breakfast buffet is the best we’ve had on our current vacation.
My only complaint? The chef makes these unbelievable cinnamon doughnuts, but they were only offered one morning out of the four we stayed. Make more cinnamon doughnuts!

We stayed for 3 nights (an extra night than planned because we didn't want to leave!) at the end of November [2019] and had the most wonderful weekend. Firstly the location is ideal for visiting the beautiful village of Hoi An, only a 10 minute walk, making it really easy to pop in for some food or coffee and ensuring you can visit as many temples, bridges market's as you like.
The hotel itself is great to with 2 lovely pools, a fab roof top bar (with excellent views) and a good restaurant! The interiors are stunning while always clean and immaculate and the beds super comfy.
Lastly our stay was made even more enjoyable with the friendly, kind and caring staff. We thank ,in particular Thuy and Thu, for the time they took sharing great visiting tips with us (both for Hoi an and our next stop in Hue) as well as generally making us feel very comfortable and cared for. We wish had had remembered more names as everyone was so kind and smiley!
We would absolutely love to visit again and would recommend to everyone!

I had 2 night stay in this hotel during our anniversary trip in Da Nang and Hoi An. The hotel team was responsive to our inquiries and managed to arrange a nice surprise for me and my husband on our arrival. It was a nice touch, thank you! Hotel is about 5 mins stroll to town center. We were lucky to have nice weather in December and used hotel bicycles to explore the town. Breakfast in early morning was a bit busy due to large group but next day we went later around 9 and it was decent atmosphere. Breakfast had a variety of delicious options and a number of Vietnamese and Western salad to choose from.
Overall highly recommended!

I have stayed here before and plan to again in August. Unfortunately last time we stayed there the ground floor pool was closed and we didn't know that when we booked in. The roof pool had a ton of sun and there was hardly any shade or umbrellas. It was not a leafy area, more paved and concreted however the water was beautiful and there was a great little bar area there.
We didn’t notice any noise issue. And we were in the old wing.
