Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We gratefully returned to HoiAn Historic Hotel after an absence of 5 years and were not disappointed. The location is secluded amongst large trees where we ate our breakfast, and protected from the traffic noise of horns and scooters, but close enough to wander leisurely into the old town. We had a grand suite, which gave us space; a lounge area, a large bathroom, a wardrobe area, an entry vestibule, and a large balcony that overlooked the pool area. The staff were always helpful and courteous, remembering the drinks we preferred, and the breakfast menu was a fusion of Asian and Western. Morning Glory restaurant was our favourite place to dine in the colourful central part of Old Town, and Madam Khanh was our go-to for BahMi. An Bang Beach was a short taxi ride away, although many cycled, whilst not as good as some of our Aussie beaches, it has started to return to its former glory prior to storm ravages You could 'buy' a lounge for 3 hours, but we were pestered by sellers of trinkets who were very persistent. We bargained for the silks and pashminas, visited the "Reach Out" tea house, a not for profit organisation employing disadvantaged people helping them to gain Independance and self worth..we strongly recommend a visit there. We took away with us lovely memories and wishing we had stayed longer than 7 days.

Hotel's Favourite
Me and my fiancé stayed here for 3 nights whilst in Hoi An. The hotel is in a great location and has free bicycles for you to cycle around Hoi An. The breakfast selection was exceptional, both western and Asian choices. Our room was very comfortable and had a lovely garden and pool view. The staff are all lovely and a very special thanks to Quynh who was so kind and helpful to us when my fiancé lost her mobile phone in the town. We also booked our day trip to Ban Na hill through the hotel which was great. A very enjoyable few days.

The rooms were very comfortable and the bathroom a good size. The people here at the hotel were very friendly. I had a massage while here and it was wonderful. We had a few meals at the restaurant and each time we were served by Phat. He gave us great service and advice on what to do and see around here. I’ll definitely stay here again.

Comfortable, pleasant room. Good breakfast. Nice pool. Really well situated, near to places to eat, shopping areas, and river. Once you get your bearings it’s easy to get around. A friend and I found a lovely little place to have a lantern making lesson.

This hotel is in a great location, only a short walking distance from the old town. The rooms are very clean, the breakfast is excellent. The staff are very friendly & willing to advise & help in any way. The hotel doesn’t have a lift, however the maximum number of floors is 2 levels above ground. The pool is small for the number of guests that the hotel can accommodate. All staff were excellent however there were 3 staff that stood out & were so helpful, their names are Nga, Phat & Bao, thank you so much for your assistance.

This is a difficult review for me because all in all I did enjoy this hotel but there were little things that I found exceptionally frustrating. Let’s start with the positives. The grounds are ample with pool being fantastic and at no time was it overcrowded. The location is excellent only a short walk to the markets or old town. Breakfast (while lacking any real day to day variation) was wide and plentiful. The air conditioning was as good as anything I’ve experienced in a similar price range in Vietnam. Finally the service level was everything you come to expect from the amazing people of Hoi An. What let’s you down however is it feels the name Historic Hoi A leads to a lacking of updating some clear issues. The bed was rock hard even for Asian standards, the bathroom was dated and the shower was almost impossible for anyone over 5 foot 10. I’m 6 foot and the shower barely made my chest. If you shower during the morning water pressure means it makes it to your waist. You have to climb over a small step stool (carefully placed to hide two protruding hooks) into a bath that looks as though it was built directly above the existing shower. Thus the lack of fixture usability. Then a few minor things like no usb points and power on only one side of the bed. All in all would I stay here again, yes. Would I like a better shower and bathroom, absolutely.
