Nestled near Ancient Town and boasting a beachfront spot, Renaissance Hoi An Resort & Spa is lauded for its prime location despite the beach's modest appeal. The hotel's service garners high praise for its friendly staff and memorable experiences, though the bar service occasionally disappoints. Guests revel in the peaceful and luxurious atmosphere, enhanced by the hotel's modern yet traditional aesthetic.
The extensive amenities, including a sizeable pool and spa, alongside a diverse breakfast selection, impress visitors. Cleanliness is top-notch, with spotless rooms and commendable housekeeping. Opinions on room comfort and value for money are mixed, with some guests noting room dampness and others finding the offerings competitively priced.

As a Marriott Titanium member we were delighted to be upgraded to an oceanview room though check in staff seemed scrambled trying to get us checked in as if they somehow weren’t ready for us even though we’d provided an arrival time. We were on the 3rd floor and had a small balcony overlooking the ocean. It was so nice listening to the sea. Beds comfortable and we found the rooms quiet. A lovely welcome platter in our room of sweet treats and fruit was much appreciated. A nice touch was housekeeping coming each evening to replace used towels and straighten the bed/s. We noticed one huge restaurant on the ground floor closed for refurbishment and the resort seemed very empty. We swam in the beautiful pool daily though the water temperature was a bit cool. No one seems to sit on the beach or swim in the sea. The area is quiet with little around and it is a 20 minute drive to Hoi An town though the resort has a free shuttle at set times only. Given the local Grab cars are about $3-4 US it suited us much better to use them whenever we wanted. We had massages daily nearby including opposite the hotel entrance for around $10 US for an hour. I’m surprised so many reviews said about the resort spa on site given it is literally nearly ten times the cost at $80 US. I totally expect to pay more for services at a resort spa but the prices here were outrageous. After this resort we checked into the 5 star Sheraton Hai Phong and used the on-site spa there where a massage cost $20 US by comparison to Renaissance Hoi An’s $80 US. Pricing definitely needs looked at. We sat by the pool daily but only once a staff member came by asking if we’d like to order drinks which we did. A missed opportunity for revenue there. Also no happy hour or two for one specials as at other Renaissance properties we have stayed in. Breakfast buffet was good but a few things missed the mark - local Hoi An dish Banh Mi on offer but all pre-made sitting exposed with meat in them didn’t appeal nor seem good food hygiene. Two days out of four our ordered coffees never came. Three days out of four the Bircher muesli bowl sat empty, never refilled. Labelling of foods was hilariously wrong (see photos), not hard to get right. Eggs Benedict made to order was very sad and not particularly palatable. Pastries and cheeses were lovely. Overall a good stay and a lovely location but some minor things let it down.

Dear Camda, Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review of your stay with us. We are delighted that, as a Titanium Elite member, you enjoyed your room upgrade and the comfort of listening to the ocean from your balcony. Your kind words about the welcome platter, evening housekeeping service, and our beautiful pool mean a lot to us. That said, I sincerely regret the areas where we fell short. I appreciate your patience during check-in and will work with our team to ensure a smoother arrival experience in the future. Your observations regarding food labeling, breakfast service consistency, and the presentation of certain dishes have been noted, and I will be addressing these concerns with our culinary team to ensure improvements are made. Regarding the spa pricing, I understand your perspective, and we will certainly take your feedback into consideration as we review our pricing strategy. We aim to offer an experience that reflects value for our guests, and your comparison provides important insights. Additionally, I appreciate your comments about the poolside service and happy hour opportunities. Enhancing the guest experience in these areas is something we will work on moving forward. Your constructive feedback is invaluable, and while I’m pleased you had an overall good stay, I regret the minor details that let us down. Thank you for your loyalty to Marriott, and I sincerely hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for an even better experience. Honestly upon arrival at the property my checkin experience was not as pleasant as expected. Checkin was done in a hurry and merely as a routine. I was briefed all the information in a minute without being given a chance to ask or give feedback. However, when Giselle stepped in to assist with the coordination of my preferences among various departments, my experience made a very positive 180 degree turn and became one of the most flawless ones I have ever had as a Bonvoy Titanium Elite over the past years. Giselle is a hospitable, responsive, caring and conscientious duty manager. Whenever I approached Giselle about any requests or issues requiring assistance regardless of triviality, she took the initiative to offer prompt and pertinent support for the sake of seamlessness and perfection of my stay. For instance, knowing that my most preferred type of room being a top-floor corner suite Giselle arranged for me with all the requested amenities properly set up. For any items requiring repair or replenishment she would follow up without delay. I once reported to Giselle’s team through the operator about a noise disturbance from the neighbouring room in the late evening, they quickly liaised with the security guards to conduct investigation and have the issue thoroughly resolved to ensure an absolute quiet ambience within my area. I also once reflected to Giselle that those feather and synthetic pillows set up in the room were too soft for a good sleep. The next day she arranged a memory foam pillow to be delivered from another Marriott property to Renaissance Hoi An and asked the housekeeper to set up the same on my bed. On some days I might have skipped the breakfast to gain more hours of rest in the morning and therefore requested for the F&B team’s favour to set up some fresh fruits in my room. Giselle without hesitations liaised with the F&B team and have the fruit platter arranged upon request. Besides Giselle, whose effort was inevitable to the pleasance of my recent stay, there are also a number of associates deserving my big shoutout because of their great passion and hard work such as Nhung, Vien, Thinh, Uy etc. In particular, I wish to specifically mention Yen, the lovely waitress, and send my great compliments across for her exceptional friendliness and cheerfulness. Every time I saw her at the main restaurant or the lobby bar she would greet me with a big smile. I was deeply touched by her passion towards servicing as she was not just concerned about how things went on during my stay but also curious to offer me recommendations on where to eat and explore as a local. Yen is a super hospitable person, and is truly an asset to the captioned Renaissance property too.

After being spoiled by the three-bedroom villa at Marriott Resort Non Nước Beach, we upgraded ourselves at check-in to a three-bedroom villa at the Renaissance Hoi An Resort. This property has fewer villas, which gives it a cozier, more intimate feel. We enjoyed walking between our villa and the reception area, instead of relying on a buggy. The main pool is large and stunning, though it was surprisingly quiet, with not many guests using it.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with beautiful welcome gifts in our villa, a thoughtful touch. We especially loved the infinity private pool, which offered a serene view of the ocean. The breakfast buffet at the Food Studio was exceptional, with an impressive variety of food options to choose from.
The staff at the Renaissance were very nice, pleasant, and always eager to help, making our stay even more enjoyable.
Of all the Marriott properties we stayed at during our two-week trip in Vietnam, this was by far our favorite. We love the resort location in the quiet Cua Dai beach, a remote area from the busy downtown Hoi An. It’s an ideal choice for those seeking a balance of peace and easy access to cultural attractions.

It’s wonderful to know that the infinity pool, with its serene ocean view, and the thoughtful welcome gifts added to your experience. It’s truly an honor to be your favorite Marriott property during your two-week trip in Vietnam! Positives: the staff were beyond helpful and they were top notch. They did their best in light of the circumstances. Location was out of the chaotic old town but only 10-15 minutes by taxi or grab.
The lobby looked like it had been renovated and is typical of Renaissance brand. The lantern display is a pretty touch.
The breakfast buffet had a large and good variety. Interestingly, the restaurant used little cards to order bahn mi & pho (just like at dim sum restaurants) that you gave to wait staff which saved us time in the morning to browse other offerings. At times, in the morning buffet, it was a bit of a zoo. The wait staff (2-3) did their best to handle the huge number of guests. The hotel should have more staff to make things go more smoothly.
Negatives: The room decor is circa 1980s and the hall carpets are deeply stained. There was a distinct/faint smell of mildew in the corridors. The AC temp in the common areas was not enough in the daytime making breakfast time to be unpleasant if you came early. Later in the evening the hallways didn’t smell as bad since the AC was stronger and the buffet restaurant was much cooler.
In our room, we had the opposite problem in temperature. Despite our attempts to raise the temperature, it was like an ice box. We slept with our sweaters and down coats on to stay warm. The shower drain overflowed every time so we either had to take very quick showers or use the bathtub.
The hotel airport transfer vehicle that we paid for was unsatisfactory. We paid a hefty sum to be picked up at the airport in an old passenger van that reeked of deodorizer. We are not picky but it looked like it was from the 1970s and in poor shape. For that amount of money we should have just taken the most expensive grab to the hotel and still had money left over. For comparison, our other 3 hotels picked us up in a clean and high end vans/sedans (BMW, Mercedes etc).
Lastly, there was no bathroom in the restaurant or in the lobby. We either had to use the pool cabana bathroom or go up to our room. It was highly unusual that such a large resort had no lobby or restaurant bathroom.
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.

Dear M J, Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review. While I am pleased to hear that you found our staff to be helpful and that you appreciated aspects of our breakfast, location, and service, I sincerely regret that other parts of your stay did not meet expectations. We acknowledge your concerns regarding the condition of the resort, and while we have been making gradual improvements, we fully recognize that there is still work to be done. Your comments about the room décor, hallway carpets, and air conditioning inconsistencies have been noted, and I will be addressing these issues with our maintenance and housekeeping teams to ensure we enhance the overall guest experience. Regarding the airport transfer, I regret that the vehicle did not meet your expectations, and I appreciate your honest feedback. We will be reviewing our transportation options to ensure they align with the level of comfort and quality our guests expect. I would also like to clarify that we do have a restroom in the lobby, located near the reception area. I sincerely apologize if our team was not able to properly communicate this to you, and I truly value your feedback as it helps us improve the way we assist and inform our guests. Thank you again for your candid insights. While I regret that your stay did not reflect the high standards we aim to deliver, I truly appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to address these concerns. Should your travels bring you back to Hoi An, I hope we may have another opportunity to provide you with a much-improved experience. We spent a wonderful week at the Renaissance in Hoi An in September. The staff were exceptional and always extremely helpful if we needed anything from the front desk, with the whole team demonstrating what we have found to be amazing Vietnamese hospitality. The service provided throughout the hotel was some of the best we've experienced and the team go above and beyond - when I lost a favourite scarf, they couldn't have been more helpful and arranged for it to be sent to my home when it was found after our departure. The facilities at the pool are wonderful - the staff were courteous, the pool and surrounding area is immaculate and the pool bar provides all the refreshments you might need during the day, lending itself to be the perfect place to relax. The spa staff are magical - I had the best massage ever from Quy. In terms of food, the breakfast buffet was incredible - so much choice and on the couple of occasions we ate in the evening, the quality was again very good. It is a little way out of town, which some may see as a disadvantage but we found it added to the restful environment. The hotel offers a shuttle service and if you want to travel at another time, you can easily find a Grab car in town, or the hotel will call for one and this provides a low cost form of transport. The Renaissance in Hoi An is a fabulous hotel which we would highly recommend if you are visiting this area.

The villa with private pool is a wonderful idea - the villa is huge and the private pool with terrace is just perfect. Rooms and bathrooms are big, with everything you need (even umbrellas in case of rain). Breakfast buffet is really tasty (a variety of food/drinks), however, table cleaning takes a little more time than in other 4/5* hotels. The fitness room is nice and the Staff is friendly. The hotel area is taken care of and looks beautifully with its green trees, bushes, flowers etc. There were almost no mosquitos there (we could see a mosquito spraying Staff member in action). The only drawback during our stay was the room service which delivered 2 (out of 6) times wrong food to our villa - however, a compassionate Lady from Restaurant delivered extra fruit plate as a compensation afterwards. The room service food was nice. Our stay in villa was definitely worth the money and I would consider it again in case I come to Vietnam one day. FYI: prices in restaurant/room service are normal (~10 USD per pasta/pizza) but the prices in SPA were irrationally high (some were higher than in 4/5* hotels in Western/Central Europe), therefore, we decided to skip the SPA.

The family friendly property is not crowded at all. It’s about 20-30min away from Hoi A city center hence you get a bit of calmness which suits us. The infinity pool is the highlight, largest I have ever seen. Compared to Danang, feel like the breeze in Hoi An is constant and more comfortable. Standard room is rather small but we combined two twin beds together to make it workable. At any given point of time, I don’t see more than 10 guests in the pool area, making the overall experience very good. Breakfast selection is good with some local dishes such as sticky rice that we don’t see elsewhere. Beach is within walking distance 1-2min and beach condition (in front of hotel) is good. I do hope that there can be shower facility before coming back from beach to hotel area. So that I can wash off some sands. For such beach front resorts facilities, hope hotels can offer some paid activities, fishing , water sports, cruise excursions etc, or some free activities such as morning/sunset yoga.
Kids participated some kids activities while adults were chilling.
I walked around and saw some villa style units which seem very similar to the one we stayed earlier at Marriott Danang Villa. Seems nice and have large grass land with trees. Would be nice if there is large hammock that guest can use. Kids should love it. However, as you walk further away from the hotel, beach condition deteriorates.
Staff is friendly and helpful. Thank you Renaissance Hoi An Team!

The hotel and grounds are maintained nicely. We were in a three bedroom villa and it was a bit musty when we arrived due to the humidity...A couple days of air conditioning fixed that but the welcome plate left in the room some of the items were soggy.
Front desk is overall good and they want to help, but they forgot the welcome amenity delivery, and with 6 of us there was just never any room on the shuttle which can only accommodate 12 I believe. If you are a larger group download the grab app.
Breakfast was extensive and we did not stay at a hotel with more choices for breakfast than this resort. Rooms are clean and pleasant to stay.
Since we arrived Christmas day, we made it easier in booking the 'festive escape' prix fixe menu and that was a serious misstep. Firstly, they closed the restaurant and served us in the lobby. Not quite right but we soon realized it was because only three other tables booked the same menu options. Secondly, the food was not as described. The 'bread bowl' appetizer was two slices of toast with some cheese and jam on top, reminiscent of something a third grader cooking class would give you at snack time. Choice of turkey or beef wellington? We were told there was only beef while other tables got turkey. Dessert was suddenly for 2 people. The price was exorbitantly high for what we got, and the meal was uninspired and mostly depressingly prepared.
Other than that, we had a pleasant stay and would consider returning. Although there were a few Marriott properties being built on the way to this resort, we might try a newer property if we return to Vietnam.

Dear canadagal416, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed aspects of your stay, such as the well-maintained grounds, clean and pleasant rooms, and the extensive breakfast selection. Your kind words about the efforts of our front desk team are also much appreciated, even though there were a few service oversights. I sincerely apologize for the shortcomings you experienced during your visit. The musty arrival in the villa and the condition of the welcome plate are areas we need to address, and we will review our processes to ensure this is not repeated. Regarding the shuttle service, I understand how this could have been frustrating for a group of your size, and we’ll look into ways to improve the availability and communication around shuttle arrangements. I’m truly sorry to hear that your festive dining experience did not meet expectations. Serving the meal in the lobby and the inconsistency with the menu were not reflective of the quality we aim to deliver, and I regret that the experience fell short, especially for such a special occasion. Your feedback is invaluable, and I will work with our culinary and events teams to ensure these issues are addressed for future events. Thank you for noting that, despite these challenges, you had an overall pleasant stay and would consider returning. We’d love the chance to provide you with a better experience should you decide to stay with us again. Be well, Jean Naronglith | General Manager Renaissance Hoi An Resort & SPA

This Vietnamese hotel left me with deep and beautiful memories. As soon as I entered the lobby, I felt the warm reception. The friendliness and professionalism of the staff made me feel at home. The room facilities are fully equipped, the spacious and bright space makes me feel extremely comfortable, and the bed quality is top-notch, allowing me to enjoy a comfortable sleep every night.
The location of the hotel is extremely convenient, with local restaurants and markets nearby, allowing me to experience local culture and food in depth. Moreover, the hotel provides a variety of breakfast options, whether local or international, to meet the needs of different tastes.
I particularly appreciate the hotel's meticulous service. Whether it is pre-departure assistance or on-site response to needs, the staff can always solve it in a timely manner. Overall, my stay here exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this hotel in Vietnam and look forward to visiting again in the future.

One of the best beach front resorts along Hoi An beach side. Upon arrival, we were greeted with smiles and attended by pleasant front desk staff. Check in was smooth and within few mins, the buggy was ready to ferry us to our villa.
The villa we stayed was as per description and was nice to fit all of us (16 of us including kids). All 5 rooms were neatly prepared and amenities were all functioning well.
The overall resort landscape was beautifully maintained and felt fresh from lobby up to the surrounding facilities.
Breakfast spread was good and the restaurant was large enough to give space for all guests despite peak times. Special thanks to the chef who went the extra mile to prepar us halal meal (seafood fried rice and fried noodles) daily as we could not take on other non halal meals.
In short, we had a wonderful stay and we'll taken care of by Renaissance Hoi An team. Will definitely be back for our next visit in Hoi An.

I am wondering there are no restaurants within walk area from the hotel, but you can go to the Old City by Grab or taxi. It takes about 20 minutes and costs around 10 US dollars.
There are more places to choose from in the Hoi An area.
