Fourth visit, returning after a year off to give the hotel time to sort out a few issues with change of suppliers etc. Glad we came back, we were welcomed like old friends by the staff starting with the Security guard the moment we arrived. The housekeeping team are still doing a sterling job, ensuring our room was spotlessly clean and towels replaced daily. I can’t comment on the food as we opted to go out and about and try local restaurants every day this time but if the rush to enter the restaurant as the doors opened is anything to go by it must be nice. Make time during your stay for a massage, the hot stones are incredible. The addition of water slides in a new pool went down well. More than enough sunbeds, even with COVID-19 social distancing layout requirements. Hand sanitiser is everywhere for those worrying about it - entrance to Reception, the loos, the bar, the restaurant and on tables. Your luggage is sprayed on arrival and a floor mat with disinfectant is at the hotel entrance.

Special thanks to Hasan, Joseph and Hicran. Hasan for always being on hand if we needed help with anything at all and generally checking all was well with us and our room/service each day; Joseph for his endless supply of coffee ready and waiting each morning without having to ask and excellent eating suggestions outside of the hotel to ensure we tasted genuine Turkish cuisine in restaurants that locals frequent; and Hicran, simply for being typically Hicran - super helpful at every level, nothing is too much for her and she really does give Service With A Smile. Miss you already Sheffield Lady!

Had another really good holiday here at the Sunlight gardens
Rooms were OK could have done with updating as was same as when we stayed in 2017 was one of the things that let it down.
Food was in my opinion really good much improved and was plenty for everyone(don't understand where the bad reviews are from, unless really fussy eaters) lots of choice from salads to desserts, really enjoyed the breakfast options and the pancakes and omletes were lush.
Pool area clean my favourite part of the complex as you have your choice of 2 pools main pool where they have foam party and the quieter pool for relaxing also slides which were open for a few hours each day.
Ice creams were lovely just what you need on a hot day but have to eat quick before they melt 😋
You get what you pay for at this hotel but it is in a really good location 5mins to beach which is down hill but they have a shuttle service a couple of times a day also taxis are cheap enough to get on the way back, plenty of places around to eat out if you feel the need to and also really cheap and good quality especially the steaks, Side town not too far
If I could have one criticism it's that the staff didn't smile enough and not enough interaction with ALL the guests but it was busy and they did do an amazing job.
Would definitely come back.
The staff on reception were really good at accommodating us and changed our room to one with a better view(nothing wrong with first room just preference on having a view) would have preferred mountain view which now I know is block B top floor I will remember for next time(great first thing on a morning)

We stayed here for 10 nights October , first impressions worried us arriving in the middle of the night due the room being basic. However we were wrong, this place is a great base to explore Side, the staff are so friendly and the pools are clean, one busy and one quiet, neither are too deep 1.4 and 1.5. The drinks are great and yes you have to pay for cocktails but they are cheap and very good they make every effort to please. There is always something to eat and we had no complaints about the food given what we paid. The location is excellent for limited mobility for bars and restaurants however the beach is a steep hill. The shuttle bus is Great it will take you there and back at certain times and the service down the beach is second to none.
Overall whilst the room cleanliness and standards could have been better we were happy as this is 3 star, and yes would would definitely come back. Enjoyed this lovely place Side is beautiful.

I am amazed there are so many good reviews for this place. Just got back from a fortnight there & it's 3 star at best.
We had a 3rd floor room, very basic. There was a kettle, no hairdryer at first one appeared after 5 days! Safety deposit box cost us 30 euro.
Bed was terrible any slight movement & it made a noise like thunder so it constantly woke us if someone turned over.
Although it's clean the standard of sheets & towels is awful badly stained & threadbare.
No towels in room on arrival, we called reception & the one's they sent were ripped to pieces ( see pic ) I would have thrown them years ago. You only get 2 bath towels & 1 hand towel between you & they are never changed. After a few days we left the hand towel soaked & screwed up on the floor to signal for a new one & housekeeping just rehung it from the towel rail! We then left all the towels in the base of the shower & they disappeared but weren't replaced so again no towels & another call to reception. This happened every time & you need to contact reception to get new towels which is ridiculous.
The shower head bracket was just hanging down so water just hit the wall & not you, we had to wedge a peg in it.
There are two big pools, the main one by the bar we never managed to get around as people put towels down then disappeared. It's a shame the hotel don't stick to their policy about removing towels as people were leaving them overnight & appearing at midday.
It's not really a hotel for couples there were lots of large groups with children & they virtually took over the pools playing ball from one end to the other.
We ended up going to the beach most days, it's only a 5 minute walk & had loads of sunbeds with parasols & is a fantastic sandy beach. They do have a beach shuttle that we used but it didn't always turn up to take you back.
Food was good, hot & lots of choice. It's not really labelled so if you are a fussy eater you might not like that you can't tell what it is.
The hotel is in a great position loads of shops & restaurants nearby.
The hotel could be really good but the manager is so poor. He looked like he couldn't care less about the state of the place, just permanently walking around & shouting at his staff in front of everyone. So unprofessional. He didn't acknowledge us at all the entire fortnight & he saw us every night at dinner. He was behind the bar when we went for a drink & the barman got called away, he literally ignored us, seems he can't even pour a beer!
The rest of the staff were fantastic.
We would return to Side but not this resort just too many bad points.

I honestly feel like I’ve stayed at a different hotel to all the five star reviews. We’ve stayed at this hotel before when it was previously a Thomas Cook hotel and it was great hence the return. Unfortunately it’s gone downhill since then and I wouldn’t return which is a shame as it’s in a great location and the pools and grounds are lovely. There’s where it ends though firstly the food was below average, if you like liver kebabs you’ll be fine! The restaurant was always full of flies. Drinks ok local vodka gin beer etc, coke Fanta and sprite no cocktails. The manager is more interested in selling his cocktails at night than dealing with any of the issues many people were having. The first night we had ants coming through the skirting boards which all had big gaps and holes in which I had to stuff with toilet roll to try and stop them coming in. Second night cockroaches in the room, shower broke on the fourth day reported to reception nothing was done it was only when I asked the cleaner who called the maintenance man to the room it got fixed. In the 10 days we only got our sheets changed once and towels changed twice even though I left them on the floor in the living area but they would just get hung up back. The shower mat only got changed the day before we left even though again I’d left it on the floor right by the front door but it just kept being put back in the bathroom. Although the hotel rules state no reserving beds before 8am towels were left on the sunbeds all night and unless you get up early you’ve got no chance of getting a bed after 8am. We ate out every night and there are some lovely cheap restaurants within 5 mins walk, would recommend The Crown, Kayis and Chef Davut. Side is a lovely area and would definitely return but not to this hotel.

It’s a 3 star hotel so don’t be expecting room service. We stayed here from 02/09/2022 to 12/09/2022. I’ll give my honest feedback.

Cons:

1) Food is terrible apart from Turkish night each Tuesday. Breakfast is ok with great Omelettes. Lunch is fine for lunch but dinner is awful. It’s hard to find any nice restaurants in Side. I personally eat better Turkish food in Manchester. Budget for eating dinner out each night. Turkey is super expensive now. A dinner for two without drinks is around £30.

2) Sunbeds by the pool are always used. Guests put out towels the night before or leave them on the deck chairs for their entire stay. The hotel has a policy to remove any towels left unattended before 8am which is great, but they don’t enforce it.

3) Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is great by the pool but doesn’t work in guest rooms unless you are right above the bar.

4) Drinks. Only the most basic drinks are included. Anything bottled or cocktails are extra. Cocktails are 70 lira of £4.50. Bar is closed until 10am (can’t even get a Pepsi) and closes at 11pm.

5) Cleaniless. Our room was dusty and found some strange stains next to our bed on the wall.

6) Bedding. Bed is hard like a rock, pillows are horrible and the only blanket is a very rough sheet.

Pros:

1) Staff. In general they were very friendly and accommodating.

2) Pool. The pools are beautiful and kept clean. The pool area was made with wall tiles so it’s very slippery. Saw many kids and adults fall.

3) Environment: it’s lively and provided entertainment was great for adults and children.

Overall, we would not return to this hotel or Side, Turkey. I found Turkey to be very expensive (more then Europe) when it’s a developing nation.

Stayed for 1 week at the beginning of July, got an absolute bargain for under £400 each all inclusive.
Transfer was just over an hour, check in very quick and our cases were taking to our room.
I had booked a 1 bedroom apartment but we were given a huge 2 bedroom apartment with 2 balconies and modern bathroom.
The hotel itself is a good location, 10 min walk to the beach 25 min to old town. Shops and restaurants on the doorstep.
The pools where great but was shocked to have to set an alarm to get a sunbed, if you weren't down by 8am you had no chance!
All staff lovely and helpful.

Now the bad bit..... The food. I wouldn't say its awful but I think some brits would struggle. The worst thing for me was that nothing is labelled properly. I thought I was eating a chicken kebab one lunchtime turns out it was liver!
We got the holiday so cheap we were happy to eat out each evening, there's some lovely places nearby and it's so cheap however I do understand that some people can't afford to do this especially if they've paid more expecting not to have to spend money eating out.
Drinks were absolutely fine, beer, wine soft drinks, vodka. Cocktails extra but very cheap.
We didn't stay in for the entertainment so can't comment on that.
I would stay again if we got a cheap deal. At the end of the day if you want 5 star you need to pay for it. This place is clean and very friendly and I feel the price we personally paid was very good value

A 10 day holiday started not very well. I am disabled and unable too make stairs I sent 2 e-mails too the Hotel however when we arrived at 2am our room was 2 flights of stairs some 50 odd steps I coukd not manage!! The night reception guy was so rude and demanded I went too our room, I explained I couldn't but he was nit taking it on board. We slept on the sofa in reception no offer of blankets, air conditioning a drink pillows nothing my husband is 62 I am 59 we had travelled all day and I was 6 weeks after having spinal surgery!!
I called the so called 24/7 help line no help what so ever as it had not been documented on our booking form! Wow.
The next day Tui Rep came and asked what we wanted him too do? Move hotels we said well that take 3 days he said!!
The manager also came it was his fault he put us in the room, he said only one night I laughed if I am disabled then how?
He apologise and offered us a ground floor family room. It was basic but clean. So we took it room 107 lovely aircon, no WiFi there though very dated, I asked for more pillows it took 2 days too get them.
The food was TURKISH so if ur picky don't go I loved the food so did my husband, all cooked fresh every day chicken turkey or fish, the beef cuts were cheap and fatty and chewy my husband said, but overall food was good. More like a budget hotel, no mid morning snack lunch at 12.30 the snack at 4pm fresh fruit turkish melon or cake very nice and ice cream free daily. Rooms cleaned daily, towels changed every 3 days and one bottle of water on first day then buy yourself, best supermarket out back gate turn right across the Road so cheap for daily and gifts too take home.
Entertainment was basic silliness Thursday night Turkish night with a bazaar in the hotel Camels and a belly dancer.
If you need a pharmacy out back gate turn left across the road, they also have a Dr there if needed so helpful.
We did not go beach too far too walk and but 3 times a day but pool area in hotel so pretty so no real need for beach.
Small kids club plus playing area and PlayStation games and TV.
SIDE taxi 300tl or £10 fixed fair very good.
Hakuna matata restraunt out back gate turn left a few bars down lovely bacon sandwich and coffee really worth a visit turkish chicken done kebab 75TL great value.
All in all staff lovely, manager will help best he can great guy. Clean hotel but needs a refurb. Would we go again? No
Location was great

I would find it extremely difficult to label anything negatively about this hotel! There were a few minor inconveniences but the sort of things you would expect!
Very warm and friendly staff, very spacious rooms and lovely environment. The hotel is well placed with many local shops/restaurants and only a short walk to the beach if you don't want to use the free shuttle!
Rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard and we often left items in the room on display with no issues.
We were a family of 6 with 3 fussy eaters and we all managed to eat every meal- granted the food got a bit repetitive but I find that's in line with other hotels of a similar price!
The only issue we did find is that the bedrooms get incredibly hot of a night, we kept the doors open throughout the apartment but my three older children opted to sleep in the living room where the air con was- we managed though- we were fully aware that the weather in August would be hot so I'm not sure why people in other reviews seem so shocked by this!
WiFi was a bit patchy but this helped keep the kids off their phones and present in the moment!
The shop on site is great and staff in there so friendly!

Well… let’s start with the negatives so as not to end on a negative.
The rooms are basic, our door had been kicked in previously and glued back to the wall badly, the mattress was like it had been stuffed with dead dogs, the sheet that covers you is basically single size for a double bed at best, in the end I used the spare blanket and my husband the sheet. We had several influxes of ants I complained and was given a bottle of bleach to kill them ( they were in my daughters bed!!) the air on is only in the living area so bedrooms get very hot, towels are stained and most have holes in, we had the same towels for 2 weeks!!
Food… I am always willing to try new things, I have a varied diet but really struggled on a few occasions I couldn’t face dinner and ended up eating crisps for tea, we often played “guess the meat” as nothing is labelled, liver, fish and cold sprout salad were regularly on the menu, afternoon biscuits are similar to what your kids bring home from school, floury and tasteless. We have all been home 2 days and still have stomach upsets.

On a plus it’s cheap, you do get what you pay for, the location is perfect for walking to town and the shops, steer clear of Toni Macaroni for trips he’s a con man.
The staff are friendly and work hard,

We won’t be back though I’m afraid, I’d rather pay more and look forward to meals instead of feeding them.

Yes, only in living room, just adequate enough if doors left open to bedroom. Would not like to be in august weather as it could not cool it down sufficiently. Was ok in may and end of September
