With Arabic-inspired interiors, palm-fringed pools and a Tunisian eatery, this place is authentic and international in equal measure. The pools are the epicentre of the TUI SUNEO Royal Kenz Hotel. There are two outdoor ones, framed by palm trees. And when you fancy the beach, it’s less than a five-minute walk to the hotel’s private sandy stretch. Meals are taken care of by a buffet restaurant and Tunisian à la carte. It’s a short taxi ride to the centre of Port El Kantaoui and the famous Medina of Sousse.

The TUI SUNEO Royal Kenz Hotel is often recognized for providing good value, with guests appreciating the range of amenities and the attentive service, even though a few have encountered additional costs. While the lively atmosphere and entertainment are highlights for some, others prefer a quieter environment. Despite the need for room updates and occasional cleanliness issues, the spacious accommodations and diligent housekeeping are frequently commended. The hotel's location garners praise for its proximity to local attractions, although it's noted to be somewhat isolated by a handful of guests.

My fiancé and I are just back from our 7 night holiday to Royal Kenz and we simply can’t wait to come back!

You are treated like royalty by the staff and they are just simply exceptional, they go out of their way to help you and keep you comfortable and relaxed.

The minute we arrived we were greeted and provided with refreshments and snacks until our room was ready. As soon we we went up to our room it was clean and set up with a kettle, tea bags and bottled water free of charge in the room. Bottled water is provided unlimited to keep you hydrated in the complex.

The entertainment was great and all the team went out of their way to keep everyone happy - if you say you don’t want to take part you’re not forced or made to feel you have to.

The food was amazing - such a great variety! Every night they have different themes, Indian, Italian etc but also had a wide range of foods that suit you if you’re picky such as fries, pizza, plain pasta.

There is a snack bar open throughout the day you can get ice cream, fruit and meals such as spaghetti, pizza, chips in. There’s also a pool bar for beer, cocktails, soft drinks and paninis.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Thalasso spa on site as we got a guided tour from Khaled and gave us a package deal we simply couldn’t pass up.

The shop on site provides some souvenirs etc aswell 😊

The private beach is about a 5 minute walk and security lets you in and out and the beach has a bar you can get more refreshments at and the beach is very well protected.

We want to thank every member of staff - we had such an amazing time and can’t wait to book again! 😊

This place is as good as the photos suggest. It's big enough to have all the facilities and entertainment you need, but not so big you get lost in it. We had standard rooms but they were fine and overlooked the pool. Unless you have particular needs it's not worth upgrading. These were cleaned daily as was the whole place, continuously.

The food on offer was very good quality and extremely varied even by modern all-inclusive standards. The main restaurant had the most amazing variety of food, mostly international but always some excellent Tunisian food too. Even if you don't eat meat or fish (of which there's such a variety you won't eat the same thing twice) there is a huge range of salads and veggie options to choose from at every meal.

I recommend the Tunisian a la carte restaurant (the local dish "brik" was the best) and the quiet lunchtime "corner snack bar" by the pool for their freshly cooked pizzas and salads.

The beach is a few minutes from the hotel but worth the short, safe walk - there is a large reserved section for Royal Kenz guests with its own beach bar and hot food served through the middle of the day.

There are plenty of beds on the beach or by the pool so no panic there. Towels are provided at the start, but you need a 20 Dinar deposit per towel which you get back on the last day - be warned that you can't spend Dinars at the airport though...

The guests are 50/50 Europeans and Tunisian families and the mix works really well, everyone just mixes in together playing in the pool or beach volleyball, water polo, darts, boules, aqua gym, foam party (you have to see that to believe it) or whatever else the animation team can think of! Speaking of which the animation team are just the best - thank you to all of you for just making us all so welcome and not pushing anyone into anything, it's all there on offer if we wanted it, if not then fine, and I loved that.

Pros:
1. Amazing value considering what you get: huge beach, great food, clean and safe, lots to do day and night.
2. Trips out of Port el Kantaoui which is just five mins in a taxi (lots of pirate ships to choose from but the catamarans are worth a look), there are other things to do there as well like a water park, funfair etc. Interesting to go at night.
3. Friendly mix of people at the hotel and a great animation team!

Cons:
1. Spa pool - do you really need to charge us an extra 20 Dinar just to turn on the water fountains?!
2. The daily ritual of having to ask for spoons in the restaurants - spoons are guarded and given protected status in Royal Kenz, not sure why. But they will go and fetch you a spoon if you ask.
3. Only stayed for 9 nights, I wish it had been longer...

I would definitely go back and don't hesitate to recommend Royal Kenz.

Couple stay at the ROYAL KENZ Thalasso and spa in October 2022 ,

My review is a little late because I realized that our first review was not published
Good memories of this Inn and holiday in Tunisia

The royal kenz has a beautiful architecture the building is very beautiful but a little aging , the entrance hall is beautiful , the gardens well maintained and green , the pools are beautiful and large , several bars ; lobby bar , lobby bar and pool bar .

Staff is helpful and smiling

Our room was beautiful and well appointed but old , the bed was a horror it is indeed one of the only negatives of this Pension . the bathroom was really in a very bad state , black joints , broken ... we had in the room a balcony with small table and two chairs overlooking the pool . Our housekeeper did her job very well and was very nice with pretty sculptures and flower petals on our bed almost every day.

We could not test the à la carte restaurants because all booked for this date ... The main restaurant was good but quite limited in choices for a vegetarian like me , my husband however feasted on the various meats and fish on offer.
I would draw special attention to an employee of unparalleled kindness and professionalism, the man who prepared eggs for me every morning with a smile and kindness. Our waiter was also very professional , our table was reserved by him for all meals , he knew what we wanted and brought it to us without even having to ask , it is very nice .

You should also know that in Tunisia tipping is necessary, a small ticket and you will be treated like kings , it seems normal we also give in France .

The animators were also very invested and made us laugh , good animations , various games day and evening .

The spa was exceptional! this is for me the big positive , quality treatments in a splendid atmosphere for a very affordable Award.

On the beach there are vendors who pass regularly but who are not allowed to approach you if you do not want to be disturbed , the beach lifeguard makes sure and reigns supreme on his estate .

there is the possibility to book paid activities on the beach such as parachute , towed buoys ...

To summarise a very nice Pension with very helpful staff, nice old infrastructures but for the Award it remains reasonable , the spa remains the big asset , a relaxing holiday if you wish and festive too if you wish

The hotel is in a good location to visit Sousse (approx 20 mins in a taxi but don't pay more than 15 dinar) and Port El Kantaoui (approx 10 mins by taxi but don't pay more than 7 dinar). Set your taxi fare before getting in. There is not a lot outside of the hotel, the area is a bit run down. There's a few small shops/bazaars (cafes were closed due to Ramadan).
Access to the private beach area (Platinum beach) is to the right of the 2nd pool, through a metal gate that is manned by security, and a 5 min walk. There is a staff member at the beach bar to provide you with sunbed mattresses. Beach towels are provided for a returnable deposit of 20 dinar (keep receipt). When we were asking where to get them we got roped into a 20 minute tour of the spa. It does offer many treatments but of course there's a sale ploy, "on the price list its this price but we will give you a discount"

Want a ride on a camel and horses then see the lovely Joseph near the pool. It was £20 each for a morning of camel riding, coffee shop stop and watching a local lady cooking Tunisian bread which you can try with her own chilli and tomato dip. Only disappointment was no horses due to them being needed elsewhere but Joseph kindly asked a colleague to fetch a horse the next day and he took me horse riding along the beach. Brilliant experience though and would highly recommend.

Hotel itself was lovely although in need of a bit of a spruce up but our room was clean and comfortable. Maid came every day. Small fridge, safe, tea & coffee tray, the usual mini toiletries and bottled water all provided. The bed was comfortable but pillows a bit lumpy.

Both pools and the surrounding areas were very clean with plenty of sunbeds. There are waiters that will bring you drinks around the pool. I'm not one to expect to be waited on as a rule but one particular waiter either had a short memory or couldn't be bothered as myself and another elderly guest asked for some drinks but still no sign of him after half an hour. 3 separate occasions, no drinks, same waiter - no tip! Note: the hotel was not busy as it was out of season.

Restaurant was lovely with different food theme nights. Food was nice enough with lots of choice, although a little repetitive but that's usual for all-inclusive in my experience. Microwave available! Restaurant staff were attentive and friendly. Special mention to Nabil who has been there for 29 years. Had the a la carte meal one night which was ok, you can book this with guest services.

Two criticisms
1. Having arrived at the hotel by 12pm we had to wait nearly two hours to access our room.
2. Failure of hotel & security staff to deal with an alcohol fuelled disruptive family who were either swearing or shouting at all times of the day and night.

My family and I took a trip here for the October half term holidays. We have had a FANTASTIC time. Food is amazing, lots of choice for both adventurous and picky eaters. A great selection of drinks (including cocktails). I saw some reviews claiming there were extra costs for things round the hotel for things like water? Other than the spa, drinks from the American bar and the odd bingo game, everything was included in the price. Staff were friendly and helpful. Animation team were enthusiastic and fun. Rooms were clean, there was one time where our bedding had a funny smell to it but when we asked for it to be changed it was changed within the hour smelling lovely and fresh. The beach is a 5 minute walk from the hotel, very easy to find. It was nice that we didn't have to pay for sun beds and there was a bar on the beach also (and toilet for those wondering). There is also a sandwich bar on the beach, making it very easy to spend a whole day there! Both pools were clean and plenty of sunbeds to choose from. We enjoyed the table tennis as well! We have had a fantastic time. Don't let unhappy people writing negative reviews give you any doubts about the hotel. 5/5, would definitely stay again x

When looking for some sunshine in March we discovered The Royal Kenz Hotel which appeared to tick all the boxes. We were delighted with our choice. The accommodation was above our expectations, we requested a quiet room and we were pleased to be on a high floor with no excess noise. It was mentioned on an earlier review that there was some modernisation being carried out that was noisy. We were never affected by any building work or noise anywhere in or around the hotel.
The restaurant served a huge variety of food and find it impossible for someone to complain about it. There was so much choice at all meal times bearing in mind the total cost of the holiday we believe it was fantastic value. The drinks were perfectly acceptable. The Coca Cola and other mixers were brands we would expect in any bar at home. A special thanks to Sassi who made me a number of sugar free delicious cocktails. The other bar staff always remembered I needed sugar free drinks.
The entertainment staff were always engaging people to have fun and they were highly spoken about from the guests. We personally chose not to get involved but there was always a chirpy hello whenever they bumped into us.
The hotel was spotlessly clean. The staff at reception were always helpful and the money exchange was very easy. No need to use the ATM which was located next to reception.
We used the Spa and had 3 lovely long sessions of approx 2 1/2 hours over the week at a very reasonable rate. Such a treat.
Some of the facilities at the beach were still closed but I expect they will soon be open when the beach weather improves. We had plenty of warm sunshine which for us was perfect. There were lots of sun beds both on the private area of beach and throughout the well maintained gardens. There were lots of different seating areas in the shade if needed.
All in all I would say it was a very good holidays and above what we expected.

Arrivals at 10 am and reception room at 4 pm! because not yet cleaned then have to claim because view on wall not foreseen in the contract with luxairtours, change of room (the Mr of reception wanted to do nothing before the next day) resolved thanks to Mounia representative luxairtours on site (thanks for her professionalism and kindness). Nice room quiet side of the hotel but fridge HS and no bathtub plug, no electrical outlets except that of the fridge finally disconnected (ouSDB)
, Wifi that jumps constantly and TV too. But the cleaning is done every day, the towels and sheets changed too and the ladies who clean are attentive (kindness and decoration of the beds). First cocktails taken with fake juices too sweet and not enough dose then we simplify by taking classics and specifying single or double and the waiters bar are generally goodwill (correct but not very cheerful except with the English!?). Meals at lunch very varied and good, the waiters tables are kind and helpful, eating under the pergola at every meal is really a delight (on the other hand the 2 à la carte restaurants are lame!). The private beach is nice but not great, not many deckchairs and lots of seaweed, both pools are fine in this beautiful garden and there are enough deckchairs (some broken) to please everyone. The animations and animators are nice but the shows are repetitive. The hotel is beautiful but deserves a serious refreshment.

The hotel rooms being outdated did take us by surprise at first, but the ever-so-friendly reception team went above and beyond to ensure that we were happy with our room and the facilities! They were extremely quick to address any concerns we had and constantly kept in touch to ensure we were enjoying our stay.

The rooms are cleaned every morning, with fresh towels provided daily and all bathroom necessities replenished as needed. The rooms were mopped daily, adding to the sense of cleanliness and comfort. Every single member of the hotel staff—from the smiling receptionists to the masterful chefs, attentive waiters, energetic animation team, and even the friendly shopkeepers—welcomed us into their extended family with open arms. They didn't just serve us; they showered us with genuine warmth and hospitality that made us feel like longtime friends.

The food was absolutely amazing, with a huge variety and a different theme every night, allowing us to taste dishes from all over the world. For picky eaters like me, there were always chips! The chefs went above and beyond, taking feedback well and adapting meals for fussy eaters, which was impressive and heartwarming to see. The waiters ensured that there was a table for us straight away and kept our drinks constantly filled. In the snack bar, they even adjusted dishes based on my preferences for the next time I ordered.

As for activities, boredom was simply not an option. From sunrise to well past sunset, the animation team orchestrated a whirlwind of entertainment, giving no reason to leave the resort. The animation team organized numerous activities, from darts, yoga, and Arabic lessons during the day to vibrant nighttime events like belly dancing, disco, bingo, and karaoke. We even had the chance to experience a Tunisian-style wedding!

The animation team felt like a strong family that went above and beyond for us. Special thanks to Chico, Katty, Speedy, Mr. Bean, Hussain, Ibrahim, Ahmed, Omar, Toto, and Mady, who were absolutely fantastic. They ensured that we were not bored during the day, greeting us and making  us smile. And kept us awake dancing all night. I even requested more Asian music, and they did everything they could to play this and joined dancing whilst catering to everyone else. It was amazing at how much they adapted for you. This team made the whole holiday the best holiday we have ever been on, and because of them we will soon be back, we already miss them so much!

There is no reason to leave the resort to get the authentic Tunisian experience as the staff do everything they can to keep you entertained and make you feel welcome. There is also shisha that you can have alongside watching the evening entertainment and you don't have to be restricted to the shisha lounge area.

Overall, despite the rooms being outdated, the exceptional service, warm atmosphere, and incredible range of activities made our stay unforgettable. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making our holiday so special. We can't wait to return!

Unusually for me I am starting this review while I am actually still in the hotel! And the best that can be said is that, it is what it is, it is acceptable, but only because it was a late availability break for £400 if I had paid well over the £1000 peak season rate I would be furious.
The hotel is billed by TUI as authentic Tunisian but the feel is of a Disney Epcot take on what Tunisia might be like and is overall a very contrived atmosphere.

The rooms are a little tired as is the rest of the hotel, I actually paid for a room upgrade to a superior room, and ended up in a scruffy room at the back overlooking a main road, the traffic noise was very intrusive made worse by the locals racing high powered motorcycles up and down until the early hours.
The acoustics in the public areas are such that it amplifies the noise to a high level making conversation in the lobby bar almost impossible and finding a quiet corner for a quiet drink and a chat all but impossible. I ended up using the American bar which was quiet and comfortable with a nice atmosphere but not part of the all inclusive package so I paid for the privilege .

It turned out that the main reason for the noise was that a local youth football tournament was being held, over 400 contestants and their family's checked out on Sunday afternoon and it is now much quieter and more civilised.

The food was OK at best, limited choice so far, the options at every meal is very limited unless you like Tunisian food ( I don't) mostly chicken, stewed beef, liver or tuna.

Overall the hotel is to be fair a reasonable 2* and for what it is, it's probably acceptable.
The issues start with TUI's description
Classification and the fact that their name is over the door. Much more is rightly expected from the brand than this hotel. It fails on almost every level. Catering is poor, housekeeping is poor, general upkeep and maintenance is poor, location ( a 10 minute walk from the beach) is not great. Although to be fair they do mention this. From loose tiles on the floor to mould in the bathroom and strands of wire sticking out of the sun parasol at eye level, the maintenance appears to be none existent

To be honest for the price it's OK but I paid a very budget price for a very budget last minute holiday if it's cheap and you are prepared to "get what you pay for" then it's fine otherwise spend a a little more and avoid this one

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely week here in the Royal Kenz hotel. After our short thirty minute transfer from the airport, we were checked in by the very efficient reception staff. We were very happy with our allocated room which had a sea and pool view. Our room was kept spotlessly clean, we had fresh towels every day. The creative towel sculptures done by the lady who cleaned our room were beautiful. Our room had a kettle, tea, coffee and two large bottles of water. We had refrigerator, television, hairdryer and free safety deposit box.

We ate our evening meal in the main restaurant and used the pool snack bar for our lunch. There was always a good selection food available. We were happy with the buffet food so didn’t book for the A la cart restaurant.

We used the lobby bar and pool bar where the pleasant bar staff never kept us waiting long to be served. The beach bar doesn’t open until the end of May.

Most of our days were spent around one of the lovely outdoor pools. We took our own pool towels. However, Pool towels were available for a refundable 20 Dinar. We didn’t use the indoor pool, gym or spar.

We enjoyed a camel ride with we booked through Joseph(The Camel man) for £20 each We were taking by a horse drawn carriage to the camel farm, from where we rode camels into the countryside where we stopped to watch how traditional bread was made.

We would like to thank the Animation team especially Katty, (Aya) who worked so hard to ensure everyone had a great holiday. They were able to bring people together for a great time.

Each week “The Changing Ladies” a tasteful drag act performed in the hotel Starlight room. We thoroughly enjoyed watching them and would definitely recommend this show.

We had a lovely holiday and met some lovely people. We wouldn’t hesitate to return to this great venue for money hotel.

Room Tip: When booking for camel ride be sure to book with Joseph for £20 per person and not the man...

No shuttle bus but taxis are cheap, To the Mall of Sousse should be around 15 Dinars one way, they will return at a designated time or just get a taxi back, To the Medina in Sousse around 10 tp 15 Dinars, 4 Dinars to the £1, A cheaper way to Sousse is the Louage, yellow mini busses run past the Hotel constantly, I just pay 5Dinars as I have never asked the price,

Yes they do and if you ask the maid they will replenish your coffee and tea etc. Milk is available in the lobby bar. If you ask the waiters they will give you some to put in the fridge in your room.

I don't think any room is far away from the main lounge bar or restaurant, as when you get there.

Your best bet is to contact one of the popular airport transfer companies, Holiday Extras, Hoppa are the favourite and very reliable, Airport taxi's can be a bit of a chew.
