Spent a couple of nights here at the end of the Sri Lanka leg of our holiday. We were met with a warm welcome....and a cake to celebrate our wedding anniversary - a lovely touch. A relatively new , modern hotel, everything looks exactly as it does in photos / its website. Rooms are spacious with floor to ceiling window and the bed positioned so you can look out at the Indian Ocean. The bathroom was lovely and spacious but only has a shower. The hotel tried to think of everything you might need in your room, mini bar with snacks, iron and ironing board, bathrobes and even a torch! The grounds and pool area were well maintained with a wide range of sunbathing options both in the sun and shade. There were cabanas, sunloungers with pillows, beds with 'shade hoods' and loungers on the beach. The beach within the hotel area is very clean but the sea is a little wild there and not the safest to go in.Tip: Walk to the left of the hotel ( as you look at the sea) along the beach and there are places were the locals go to swim in the sea. The sea here is calmer, the water clear and warm and you can see the fish swimming around! Walk the opposite way over the rocks and the views are like paradise. Food is good and the breakfast buffet has lots of variety. We were on a b and b basis and found that drinks were more expensive than in the previous 5 hotels we had stayed in in Sri Lanka. The roof top bar is lovely and has a happy hour between 9.30 and 10.30pm. We paid for the evening buffet meal which worked out at about £16 / person.....but the food was good and plentiful for the price. A great hotel to spend a bit of r and r time after travelling around the country.

The Amari Galle is a very nice western-style beachside hotel just outside Galle. Highlights include the swimming pool (for leisure swimming - large, very safe for kids, but no jumping/diving as all shallow), abundant loungers around it and a central bar (good value), and the easy access to the beach and ability to swim in the ocean. Room was large, very comfortable beds, well equipped, good air con, kept very clean, and a large bathroom/dressing area with a good power shower. There is a wide range of food from around the world in the restaurant. The Breeze Spa is lovely and incredibly good value, and Lekha gave an excellent facial. Reception staff were unfailingly helpful. One improvement - update the Play Stations in the Kids Club. Easy access to Galle itself and plenty of trips out on offer.

Spent 6 nights here. Beautiful setting with great views out to sea although beach had lot of coral which made barefoot walking hazardous. Staff in all areas were very pleasant and helpful and I particularly enjoyed meeting Sagara at the pool bar who was friendly and informative and amusing with his magic tricks. Drinks were reasonably priced and plentiful in choice.
The external parts of the hotel were excellent, well kept grounds, plenty of comfortable cushioned loungers and daybeds to enjoy the view out to sea.
We were on half board and despite being fussy eaters we were always able to find plenty of variety as there were food stations for different parts of the world.
Where I think the hotel was disappointing was in the rooms which I found small by Sri Lankan standards. I also found ingrained dirt on the door push from room into bathroom which I was able to lift with a fingernail. With the issues relating to Covid 19 and cleanliness I felt this needed attention. The room in fairness contained everything required including minibar and generally was clean.
The hotel was half empty (I was told there were 1000+ cancellations due to Covid 19 and the bombings last year) and I think they could have offered cheap upgrades to the better rooms which would have engendered best reviews and positive publicity for the hotel. I got the impression that the hotel was just "ticking over" riding out the current travel restrictions. I would still recommend it to anyone staying in Galle.

The Amari in Galle Sri Lanka, is a stunning hotel to relax and again to relax, facilities has all the necessary to unwind and get away from the stressful lives we live these days. Right on the beach with every room having a ocean view and big pool. Experience was great from front desk to all the staff on the grounds. The Ahara restaurants staff is incredibly friendly and helpfull, need to thank Akila, Upeksha and Nuwan for their friendliness it is amazing to see how they go out of their way to make guest stay memorable.

Rooftop bar has stunning views and enjoyable to visit late evening. The room cleaning staffs attention to detail has to be commended, everything is clean and in its place when you return to your room after breakfast with one of them always checking to make sure all is good and if you need something additional

Only down side is that the closet places for other restaurants is 5km away at Gall Fort where there is lots of restarants with good food and reasonable prices. The hotel restarants are good, just that they know that you have to travel 5km for other restatants hence they tend to chage you that extra premium which should not be, even for drinks. New-look at these and you would have an even greater winning solution

Thanx to the staff and Rajen from management for a memrobale stay

Wow we were certainly wowed on arrival at this lovely hotel. This a new and modern hotel with breathtaking views from every vantage point. We arrived early and the kind receptionist sorted out an early check in for us which we were not expecting. We were given an horizon room in the 2nd building on the sixth floor. The views from our room of the ocean were amazing. We loved everything about this hotel,
Breakfasts were incredible the mango yoghurt which I understand is made on premises was probably best yoghurt I have ever eaten. There were egg stations, pastries, smoothies, cold meats, salads and fruit aswell as Asian ,Western Thai, Indian, Sri Lankan cooked breakfasts, including the fabulous egg hoppers, what a choice with plenty of staff offering tea and coffees. Dilan was a great server very smiley and chatty and very efficient . Lunch and dinners were similar affairs. We only ever eat a la carte in the evening and only eat their curries. Crikey never tasted curries like it we were told they had an Indian chef probably best lamb rogan Josh we have ever tasted and the naan bread was delicious. So much so we decided each night to dine at the hotel rather than venturing out to nearby Galle.
Location was superb right on the beach and although they were running at 95% occupancy the pool and beach area were very quiet and getting a sun bed whether in the sun or the shade was never a problem. A short tuk tuk ride to Galle will cost 500 LKR
Our room was kept spotlessly clean by Lahiru my words probably the best room cleaner ever !!!!! I could see my face in the taps and boy can he make a bed !!!!!
The roof top was a lovely place to spend an evening for pre dinner drinks. Nisal was always there to welcome us with a lovely smile and great service. He remembered our drinks and looked after us well so a big thankyou and great asset to your hotel.
My only observation as a guest was unless you scrolled through the TV trying to navigate the information it was difficult to find out what was going on at the hotel. Posters in the lift do not tell you where the so called events or offers can be located in the hotel. Only by sheer chance we eat at the sea front open air restaurant, we thought it was being set up for a private party. We were the only two dining there that night I am sure most guests were unaware it ever existed. Perhaps a big notice board by the billiard table showing the dining options, a flyer on the bed or a clear entrance to the open air restaurant ???? Just an observation like I say as a guest.

I would like to thank the hotel management for giving everyone the opportunity to be quarantined at your hotel, it is a great location with a marvelous scenery. Thank you for the organizing of the live music concert to reduce our stress and ease our minds. The staff is very kind and respective,
Also the government security team and health departments team are doing a great part to protect us and the public as well.
Also I would like to note a few points to the management for further improvements:
As there is no housekeeping and laundry service for quarantine groups it could be great if we were provided with a brush, a mop to clean our room and a bucket for washing clothes and rack for drying,
As we had to spend nearly 24 hours from the airports to our room checked in, It could be great if there was a priority system for families and elderly people as there were so many kids in the group. sanitary facilities in the bus parking areas were not satisfactory,
Also it could be great if we were provided with some snacks while waiting in the busses to check in, there were no opportunities to buy anything at the Mattala airport or on the way to the hotel!!!

What can I say about this hotel? After arriving in Sri Lanka from England I was welcomed by very friendly staff who couldn’t do more to ensure that I felt relaxed straight away. One member of stuff took my bag off me very quickly, and another passed me a very refreshing lovely drink. Upon entry you see the sea straight away and the entrance is beautiful and open and very spacious.
Our room was gorgeous overlooking the sea and the bathroom was the size of my flight back home! The cleaners were great to every morning making the beds and topping up anything that was needed in the room. We even had a lovely figure made out of towels that resembled the fact that we are both yoga teachers… A really lovely touch by the cleaners.
The food was fantastic as well huge buffet catering for anyone’s needs even my own ( I am vegan and gluten free and had no problem).
I really must talk about my massage there…
I had a male masseuse and he was highly professional absolutely amazing the best massage I’ve ever had!
I am even tempted to come back to Galle just to have another massage from him.
This hotel was the best start my trip to Sri Lanka, and I can’t recommend everybody enough.

This feedback is to share my experience as a guest on quarantine and no inner thoughts or hard feelings but just to improve your service as a 4 star ⭐️ hotel which will directly affect the tourism industry of Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
First of all my concern is regarding the snail slow wifi which we already informed the management (Operations Manager Mr Perera)but couldn’t take any action. Please try to understand as on quarantine we were directed to the hotel 🏨 from the air port which we had no chance of buying a local sim thus we had to entirely depend on wifi of the hotel and it was ridiculous.
Secondly to notify about the front desk team which was not punctual at all. We had to call like 4 to 5 times to contact them and they didn’t even bother to call back. It seemed like there was negligence and lack of communication between house keeping and front desk and we felt really uncomfortable sometimes.
I understand that laundry 🧺 isn’t available but at-least they could have provided us with self cleaning utensils like brooms 🧹 and basins.
Food and hygiene standards of the hotel was a real tragic and Sometimes stale food was served and also we found human hair in the food twice. The quantity of the fruit salad 🥗 was very low, spoiled and smelly. Proof is attached in my comments. Gravy and soups 🍲 served were watery,no spices and sometimes over spicy 🌶 and no dressings for the salads.I can’t imagine how papaya became the significant dish and everyday breakfast juice 🧃 hope it’s the cheapest to find.

Dear team amari if you are treating like this as we are locals and not much important for your business we will bear-up with no more future bookings with you. But Please make sure these issues will be looked into in order to avoid recurrence with international tourists since it will be a huge impact to the tourism and hospitality industry in sri lanka 🇱🇰 We are sad to say that we will leave with no fond memories but just disappointed😕
Thank you.

Positives- condition of the rooms and view from the balcony.

The Amari Galle is a sprawling hotel with 3 large wings. One of the many great things about this hotel is, all rooms are sea facing. And what a gorgeous sea it is. Then there are the different spaces at different levels and along the poolside to simply hang around. And then there is the elaborate buffet comprising of a large variety of local and global foods. Talking of food the staff is extremely attentive to the guests and in our case, once they found that we had some strict vegetarians in our group and also that we liked the local food, they got some off-buffet food for us. We were on a HB plan and hence didn't end up checking out the other restaurants but am sure the food would have been great.

The beds and pillows are very good and one can be sure to sleep well and wake up refreshed. Their shower and powder room is together, making for a large space to change etc. An interesting thing here is the sliding door that shuts either the shower or the toilet. So if one is sharing the room they will need to be conscious and not just walk in :)

While the location of this property is on a lovely, rocky beach, it is located 5-6 kms outside the Galle city. So be prepared to take the tuktuks or taxis for visiting the town and it's many delights.

In sum, this is a great property to have a chilled out vacay.

My stay during quarantine was great and must say the best service in comparison to other hotels where some of my family and friends stayed. All my requirements were provided as soon as I called the one touch service center. There was a variety of food provided over the 14 days and happy with the content. The quantity was fine for me as I did not want to overeat and put on any weight as we did nothing for exercise during our stay.
I think the only minus point was the wifi which needs to be upgraded to handle the traffic of 300 + devices at any given point.
My thanks to the front office staff led by Ms. Dharshi assisted by Senuri, Dilani, Buddhima and Desha
Not to forget the room service staff Nalin and Kavinda who always made sure that we moved our food inside the room in hot and hygiene condition. They will always request us to drink the herbal tea which is good to provide immunity to your body.
Thanks to the Chef's Chandana and Geethana for the variety of food items prepared by them to capture each guests taste.
I wish the hotel well in the future.

At the moment the country is again calm and quite. Therefore no issue with travelling. But As a Sri Lankan I recommend you to use a Private Vehicle and a driver for travelling. Because There is a fuel shortage in Entire Country. If there is a Private driver he will manage the fuel issue by himself. I think that Amari Galle is a High end hotel in Sri Lanka Therefore No need to worry About Food, Electricity & Safety. Have a Great Tour in Sri Lanka. We are Warmly Welcome you.
