We stayed here as part of our honeymoon to Bali this march. The hotel was very empty due to Covid. We had our own villa with our own infinity pool looking out into the jungle. The room was very spacious with a bed with Moskito net, a table with to chairs, a few side tables and a dresser. It had big windows looking out onto the terrace, our pool and the jungle. The bathroom was very big as well and had a shower, toilet, big vanity and a tub.
Outside the terrace had a beach umbrella, two beach chairs/recliners and a little table. The pool was very pretty.

The hotel has a big infinity pool near the dining area as well with a pool bar and chairs in the pool, which looks over the rest of the hotel and the jungle as well.
Breakfast was included and was very good. You can have anything from mie goreng to eggs Benedict, pancakes, fruit and muesli.

There is a free pick-up service with a little buggy to get from your villa to the reception area/ dinner area and back, in case you don't want to walk upd the hill.

From the hotel it takes ~10 minutes to get to Ubud central by car. There is a free shuttle servuce for all hotel guests to get to Ubud central and back, which leaves ~ every two hours and we used daily.

All in all I would deffinetly recommend this hotel.

We spent 5 nights in a jungle view pool villa, the experience was just ok. I can see how this place used to be amazing but a lack of care and up keep has meant that many things are broken or falling apart

Pros
The staff were very friendly, especially the breakfast staff
The view onto the jungle is spectacular
The grounds are pleasant to walk around
The shuttle bus was really useful
The staff brought us a cake at breakfast as they knew it was our honeymoon which was a really nice time ouch!

Cons
The 60 minute massage was 45 mins and we were never asked about what pressure we wanted so my wife had a gentle massage (which she didn’t want) and mine was medium to hard. Also I question the quality of the oils as it caused a reaction to my skin.
The room we stayed in (507) had many issues, the shower was blocked, the toilet couldn’t flush any toilet paper at all so constantly blocked, which was very stressful for us.
The pool lights were broken and the fountain in the pool was broken
The sofa in the room used to be beige but had now turned yellow due to bad upkeep
Plug sockets had broken plugs in them
The air con was almost over the bed meaning if you were sleeping on a certain side you would be absolutely freezing!

After 2 nights of being unhappy with our room we complained and asked to move room, the hotel obliged and we moved which was much better (the pool lights were still broken however).
Although most of our issues were small it was the combination of so many that made our stay just ok.

The resort took us by surprise. We saw the pictures and it seemed great, that's why we picked it, however the photos aren't doing it justice!
The resort is in a quiet location, away from the traffic and chaos in the city.
The landscape is amazingly thought and seems so natural, not in the common well planned, symetrical way, in which you can tell it's man-made.
The villa was more than we expected, with a big room and a baldachin bed, the shower and bathtub outside completing the tropical scene and the infinity pool with an amazing view over the jungle being the cherry on top!!!
It was a great experience and I would definetely recommend it!
The restaurant has great food, there are pools and fountains and mini-waterfalls all over the place, so you can enjoy every minute of it.
The staff was really friendly in a professional way, very helpful, open-minded and answered all of our questions, making the entire stay easier and more enjoyable. They have also available drivers who took us to the places we wanted to see and also suggested some local things which we really enjoyed, like the Lumbung sari house of coffee, where we tasted a variety of tea and coffee and received information about the making process. I absolutely loved the Mangusteen tea and the Coconut coffee, which I got to take home from their shop.

We have visited Ubud on a number of occasions pre pandemic, and this was our first time at the Payogan. What a wonderful place to stay.

The location is close to Ubud centre, only a 10 minute ride in the shuttle bus and is the resort is tucked away in a peaceful area.

We had two joining suites with a private pool. The accommodation was spacious and well maintained. We did have a minor issue with one of the fridges, that was resolved by the maintenance team immediately. Thankfully my Bintang was not affected :-)

I would also like to mention the main pool, which is really nice and has a little pool bar where you have cocktails, and it would have been rude not to take part.

There are a number of reviews that say the resort is a little tired, and if you look really closely you can see some parts of the villas do need a little upgrade. But please be aware these are minor, and when we visited, Bali had only been open to tourists for a very short time, and also let's not forget the hotel is surround by deep lush vegetation, so it will always be a battle to keep on top of things.

I would also like to mention the restaurant, especially evening meals. Great value for money and really high quality food.

Please note the shuttle bus to Ubud is not that frequent, but if you plan well its not an issue.

And, the best till last. The staff! AMAZING. Friendly, helpful and just love to chat and help you in any way. Nothing is too much trouble.

We had an amazing time at the Payogan and would recommend it to all.

This Hotel was amazing I have never been to Bali so I was in ore of it all. The rooms were clean, spacious and had beautiful views from the balcony, and all around the grounds a jungle feel as it was right up in the hills. I came with a friend and we had two separate rooms (above each other). My bed was the biggest I have ever seen and was so comfortable with beautifully clean bedding. The mosquito nets were perfect and I had no problems with mosquitos. We really loved the food all cooked beautifully and was very tasty. All the staff were attentive and so friendly especially Kumba an Wyan. I had a wonderful massage at the spa with warm stones, an infused bath, and then warm tea with cinnamon & honey to sip, a marvellous experience. We also enjoyed some traditional Balinese dancing, of which I joined in. A fantastic stay and can’t recommend highly enough.

The Payogan resort was exactly what we were looking for. The resort was beautiful, with well kept surrounding grounds, our bungalow with pool, was stunning with views of the jungl. House keeping was excellent with bedding changed on a daily basis. Staff were excellent, polite and engaging. The food was western or Indonesian, with variety. The resort was quite with an excellent spa but the shuttle bus was available to transport you to Ubud for the night life. Cost very reasonable, I would visit the Payogan again in the future.

What an amazing Villa...
I have ever dreamt of it. It's a reality now.
The villa is situated in most beautiful location of Ubud, in the slope of hill, facing the beautiful forest full of Coconut and banana trees. The villa is spreading a very large area with numerous individual Villas.
The Villa you will enjoy for a lifetime memory. Each Villa comes with a private pool with amazing view, bath tub face open air, balcony facing amazing forest view and all amenities. Common pool is available to enjoy your stay. Locker is there.
All staffs are very polite and friendly. They will help you in all aspects of your stay.
Restaurant is available for all kinds of cuisines but Indian food is very very limited. Pool Breakfast is available.
Local Cultural program organise in every Saturday and Sunday in the campus.
Free shuttle available throughout the day to visit Ubud. Rental bike also available to roam around Ubud.
All staffs are well trained facilitate all types of guests.

We had such a wonderful stay at The Payogan villa resort and spa. The rooms are spotless and spacious and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Im particular Wayan Artana has great advice for staying in Bali and is very kind and welcoming. The resort itself is perched at the edge of the jungle and has immaculate views. The buildings are stunning and the grounds are well maintained. It is also very conveniently located, close to the city centre and other tourist destinations. We had an outstanding stay and would recommend it to any families, couples or just group of friends who are looking for accommodation in Ubud.

Stayed at The Payogan Villas for 3 nights. Villas are beautiful and spacious. We went as a family of 4 and had adjoining rooms with a lovely sized infinity pool. The staff are just so lovely and friendly and could not do enough for you. Buggy service to the main reception and dining area was much appreciated. The only drawback was that we didn’t stay for longer as we were visiting other places. So much to do in the area. You will not be disappointed and we will definitely return again one day. Thank you all so much.

Have just spent 5 night here.Admittedly we has a very late arrival time due to flights and at first we thought they had decided we were a no show at nearly mid night on day if arrival. Tired and very much in need of sleep we welcomed our villa concerned of the steep incline we were assured a shuttle would be at our disposal. With day light and realisation of just how far we were from the hotel amenities a very brief and pleasing conversation our room was changed...thank you team it made a huge difference. Daily spas...good but felt as though we were rushed both in and out .no welcome discussion and explanation of what to expect..no choice of oils etc.. no wonderful aromas in any of the areas. Off putting when they are locking up before you even leave. May be need to understand the whole Spa experience. Saying that a good basic massage.
Food fine .Staff very willing to oblige. Main pool didn't look over inviting .Gardeners working extremely hard to tame the jungle.
Have read some poor reviews but to be honest the hotel is lovely. Not on the main Ubud strip but shuttle regular and free. Ibu Mangcu in walking distance.watch the pavements they just open up and want to welcome you in!!
This is rainy season and we still had a great time high in the heart of the rain forest.please don't book if you are a party and music animal. It is pure relaxation and chilling.

Hi. I can only vouch for villa 209 where we stayed. The pool looked out onto the trees in the valley. It was pretty cool. The villa we had was massive with gardens and a private terrace. But as I said in my review the whole resort feels a bit tired and in need of an overhaul. It’s very peaceful though. You could always email the Payogan directly and ask for 209 ! Hope you have a great time 👍
