Our one week stay was fabulous! We had a gorgeous room. Enjoyed the extra patio overlooking the beach. We had the junior suite overlooking the ocean. GREAT! Our housekeeper Suwinda kept our room and bathroom spotless. Thank you! The breakfast was so delicious in lyang lyang. Mahardika and Yanti and others were very hospitable. Suharta,Nia, Vera was very kind too. We appreciated the young woman that made our waffles fresh everyday. The team of cooks did a great job every morning. Everyone was attentive. Respectful. Kind. Our Ayuartini was a gem! Very kind manner. Made us feel comfortable. Served us well!. She was attentive and sweet. Always made us feel like we were in her home for the cocktails in the early evenings. Yanti was also working hard. Really, we had a great time. Down by the pool Buddi (spelling) took great care of our food needs and drinks and fresh towels.The pool was fab! The women working in the Spa really were exceptional. Relieved alot of tension :)

Where to begin?!!

This was a special trip for my family as we celebrated my parent's 50th Wedding Anniversary as well as my son's birthday as he started in kindy this year. This was also our first trip to Bali and we were unsure what to expect.

Right from the day we arrived, we were humbled by the staff's attitude and energy in making sure we have the best stay in Bali. Every staff member always had a big smile and a calming effect on us.

We wanted our parents anniversary & Son's birthday to be special and we coordinated with the front desk staff and made all the arrangements to make it a surprise event. The staff went above and beyond to make this happen and it was a success. They even gave a present to my Son who loves Pokemon and he was so happy. Agus was in constant touch with me, and he coordinated with the resort staff since day 1 to make sure that everything goes as per our requirement.

A big shout out to the front desk staff - Agus, Anthony, Gusti Karianna, Tifani, Avi & Wisnu. Thank you again for all your help.

The staff at Layang Layang restaurant (namely Vera, Suharta and Dika) made sure they had ample amount of Mangosteen, Rambutan and Dragon Fruit available during our stay :). They also prepared vegetarian options for us if one was not available in the buffet.

My family is vegetarian and my parents do not eat garlic. The staff at Pier Eight (Chef Dewa, Yanti, Eka Sutrina, Pasek and Agung Aristya) made a special vegetarian dish for my parents which was not on the menu. My parents loved it and they were very happy.

Lastly, shout out to Chef Alessandro for recommending and organising a beach dinner (Vegetarian BBQ) for my family. This was on our last night in Bali and it was an amazing experience. I would highly recommend anyone visiting this resort to book it in advance. They even made a custom vegetarian menu for us and each dish was better than the next including the desert. It was the best way to finish our stay in Bali.

The facilities at the resort are really great and clean. The swimming pool is massive, you can get a good workout by doing a few laps. The gym is decent and kids club is great. A lot of the rooms are being refurbished for the June/July peak season, however, we barely noticed any construction activity. I can imagine this resort will be awesome once the construction work is complete.

Bali in general is an amazing place and we will surely be back again.

As other reviewers have stated, this hotel is still getting up to speed. The greeneries need some serious tending and the ponds are just filthy. Not that you can go near it, but it's a sore to look at. Breakfast variety was not what you expect at an Intercontinental Hotel, BUT, I found it adequate and the quality was consistent during our one-week stay there. The ladies at breakfast gave excellent service and so did the guys at the front.

The rooms are quite huge, but if I were to give a tip, request higher level rooms, as the ground floor room that we were assigned to at the beginning had quite a few mosquitoes in the room itself and some in the balcony (which is not surprising since the greeneries are still messy and the ponds filthy). Sure the cold of the AC will probably repel them, but we were traveling with a child so we didn't let her outside to the balcony. Fortunately, we were moved to the 3rd floor the next day, without us requesting it. We are very thankful to Management for this. It's as if they read our minds.

Another highlight were the free bikes available to guests. It was a highlight because we didn't expect them to have a child seat on the bikes. But they did. Exploring Sanur was just more fun and convenient this way when you have a kid in tow.

Overall, not the usual Intercontinental experience, but we still had a blast. Hope to revisit it again! Hopefully it'll be a greater experience.

After staying at the other intercontinental in bali (and many others around the world) we had high hopes for this one. Sadly that wasn't to be, we had a number of issues during the stay.

Positives - we were upgraded to a spa suite (as they were renovating other rooms) Which is huge, and had a large semi open area lounge. Pool - Good pool, only one though.

Negatives - The resort is still being renovated, something I checked on and was told it wouldn't be a disturbance as it's well away from the rooms. Problem here being the rooms have a large open walled area and the noise from angle grinding and drilling certainly makes it into the room and without headphones on to block it out is very annoying.

Second night barely any sleep after being woken up by someone screaming and arguing went on for over an hour.

Finally we were travelling in a group of three 2 adults 1 child, at booking we were advised it would be around 860,000 or 86 AU per night for an extra bed (hotel next door has entire rooms for around this price) I was annoyed but paid only to find the room was so big and had a good lounge that we didn't need it. I advised reception who said we could use the money laid down as a deposit for food and drink etc... fair enough... when checking out we were then told that money was "non refundable" I questioned that and was then told it will be 4 days to get the refund.. I am not holding my breath on that...

Overall for the cost of the rooms it does not compare in anyway to the other intercontinental and really shouldn't be using the name until it's up to scratch, or at the very least make sure your prices reflect the current state of the hotel

Yanti and the team at the Intercontinental Sanur provided us with exceptional service throughout our 6 day honeymoon stay. They checked in with us regularly and anything we needed from housekeeping or room service promptly arrived along with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble. The supplied water bottles were bigger than average saving us time and time by the pool always started with a refreshing cold water. The breakfast was delicious and fresh daily and a good variety of foods on offer every day. The gardens are beautiful with some area of the grounds being worked on. Our room was lovely with its own big peaceful balcony overlooking the gardens. We are Sanur lovers and although it’s in a quieter part of the boardwalk everything is walkable from here.

Simply the staff are the essence of this place. The Balinese are a friendly happy people but they go the extra mile at this hotel. From security folk at the barrier, reception, pool, waiting, housekeeping and Wuson our driver they were faultless at every point of contact. Pleased to have tourists back post Covid and rightly proud of their country. The hotel suites are very well maintained and suited our needs perfectly. Located on the beach too so easy to walk out and utilise bars and eateries if you wish but the food / drinks were reasonably priced for a major chain resort too. Small supermarkets and chemist within a few minutes walk, 30 mins to the airport.

This hotel has a way to go to be what I would consider 5 star. The staff were lovely and the grounds very nice however the very important little touches were not there. The room was recently updated and on the surface looked nice, however the front door sticks and you need to really push or pull it to open, the cupboards were obviously not included in the refurb, they are well worn, with not enough hanging space or hangers and the design of them is awkward too, with high shelves that are useless. And what is the obsession with lights and light switches?! It takes you 10 minutes to try to work it out and then it is still not right. Plus the dimmers on the switches didn’t work. The shower has an at best chest high hand held nozzle that is awkward if you are taller than about 170cms. The tv was meant to be ‘smart’, clearly the definition of smart is different. There are no links to any of the popular platforms- Netflix, Amazon etc. we tried mirroring off our phone, but the ‘smart’ tv doesn’t support mirroring. We also tried logging in via the internet on the tv to Netflix, but then got a message saying the tv browser doesn’t support this link either. This is Bali and it rains. In previous hotels here we have had umbrellas in our room. Here you have to ask and then wait while they go into a back room and search. The renovations were not too disruptive however I question why they started with the rooms furthest away from reception and now make you walk past the work to get to reception. These seem like small problems and they are, however they all add up in this competitive market segment.

The recently rebranded IC in Sanur is getting up to speed, but it’s not there yet. Current prices reflect that. Not a lot has been done by the owner after getting IHG in as the operator. It’s hard to judge hotels on the backend of a global pandemic of course. The property is showing a bit of its age. Rooms need updating, although they are perfectly comfortable and offer a lot (!) of space.

Currently it operated at 50% reduced capacity and that is something you notice. No 24/7 room service, restaurant (only 1) closing at 9 is not something that’s acceptable for an IC hotel. Maybe not even in COVID times. But I see very few other foreign guests so at the same time I can understand.

Service is generally a bit Fawlty Towers like. Its very slow - I think the food all comes from one central kitchen - meaning sometimes it’s not served piping hot. Its also not the best quality, as the frying oil is probably not hot enough leading to soggy fries or batter. Other times things arrive loop warm. Prices are not too bad though and there are plenty of eateries around so you definitely don’t depend on ge hotel.

Breakfast is breakslow but who’s in a hurry? It’s a mix between buffet and cook to order but everyone seems a bit confused about the menu. Most of the staff will be trained on the job I guess and that’s fine.

The vibe simply isn’t there yet and that’s to be expected after the last 2 years, yet other hotels seem to have picked up quicker. The again: this is a new operator for the property.

So take this review with a grain of salt. It’s not a review of the hotel it can become, but of the hotel it is. At the moment it’s not a destination property but a nice room in a nice building with a nice pool.

Tip for check-in staff: don’t start with all the things that *can’t* be done. First thing I heard was that my IHG privileges didn’t apply because I booked through a 3rd party. Next thing was the closing time of all service and that there was no roomservice after 8… Not the best 1st impression.

Beautiful property with lots of upgrades needed. Wall full of painted chips. Swimming pool area deck came off and there’s nails sticking out, unsafe for kids. Lots of trash like cigarette buts and plastics. One day we had our room cleaned when we were at restaurant for breakfast and other days they didn’t clean our room until we called at 4 p.m. kids play area too dark and all the paint chipped. I stayed here couple years ago when it was still fairmont, it was much better therefor I booked to stay here the longest this time only to find out it’s so disappointing

Have just returned after a week with a group of friends after staying at this resort. I found this hotel very under par for the very expensive rate. Firstly the staff are fantastic and friendly. That to me was the only plus side to this hotel. It is still being renovated and I did stay in a renovated room which was huge. However the workmanship on the renovation is very underwhelming. Scratched floor, door to room all peeling and tiles lifting in the shower. Mould smell in room. Takes an absolute age to walk to room, yes a buggy pick up is offered but takes forever to arrive. Verry poor lighting in the gardens for walking at night. Breakfast range below what you would expect for a 5 * resort. The beach restaurant Pier 8 offers usual restaurant fare. The breakfast restaurant does not open during day or evening. Pool raised and overlooks the restaurant roof except for a small section where you can see beach view. Also there is a very ugly statue to look at while laying in the few sunlounges that are available for guests. Some friends stayed in ocean view rooms which are at very back section and there are ocean glimpses not worth the extra money. I brought attention to the staff of the tile situation in my room but 4 days later still nothing had been fixed.
We were given some afternoon free cocktails in foyer for compensation of renovations ongoing.
Maybe when renovations are completed a miracle may happen and this will become a hotel worth the name Intercontinental and 5 * - good luck.
