Travelers frequently praise the Mercure Bali Sanur Resort for its serene environment and welcoming service, highlighting the attentive and professional staff. While the rooms are recognized for their spaciousness and the beds for their comfort, some guests suggest that a renovation could refresh the somewhat dated decor.
The resort is celebrated for its prime beachfront location and lush gardens, yet opinions on value for money are mixed, with some reviewers feeling the experience does not justify the cost. Despite the overall commendation for cleanliness, there are calls for better upkeep and towel replenishment.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed here for 2 nights, although the buildings are fairly old they are well maintained.
The gardens seems like routinely cleaned up and trimmed which kept the gardens cool despite scorching heat.
Rooms are a bit old but very well maintained, the shower width is a bit small and one of the quirk for me is there's no bidet spray of any kind. Several amenities are not available which is understandable considering the situation with the pandemic.
Breakfast was still ala carte with standard selection but tasty and fulfilling.
The location right in front of the beach on the coast of Sanur makes it easy to wake up early if you want to catch sunrise.
The pathway is perfect for exercise/walk along the beach with several cafes and restaurant to rest/eat/drink.
The staffs are really friendly and helpful, even with the pandemic still on going it's pretty good to see there are still a few activities in the hotel and in the area.

+1
I am currently staying at the Mercure and the experience has been good so far. The staff were lovely at check in and I was served a welcome drink and promptly shown to my room. The room was upgraded for free and is clean, large (Good enough size for small families) and has everything I need (e.g. hair dryer, huge bottled water, kettle etc). The rooms are a little older, as other reviews have stated. However, by Australian standards, are exactly what to expect of a 4 star Hotel (with a balinese feel, which is nice). The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to greet you, English is spoken by most which surprised me. The gardens are absolutely gorgeous and the bar overlooks the ocean. There's a 'Popular supermarket' 10 mins walk ( bread, alcohol, fruit veg etc- although a little expensive but good for necessities). I haven't eaten here as yet but presume that the earlier you arrive for breakfast the better as the restaurants open air, common sense. There are also lots of little shops close by that sell clothing, hats etc, make sure you barter or you will pay double what should (I paid $6 for a pair of socks- learn your zeros with the money!) It's low season at the moment and is raining but the atmosphere is still lovely. I would stay here again :-)

I have utmost respect and appreciation for the support given to me over my 2 week stay. I was checked on daily to assist with any wants or needs. Rooms thoroughly cleaned daily, even the chef would come into the Resturant checking on patrons and any special requests. I admired the commitment to customer service. Pubar was a great leader co-ordinating hospitality. Very pleasant atmosphere.

Good thing we were "upgraded" to a Deluxe room due to renovations because I shudder to think how ordinary the Superior room booked would have been given the quality of the "deluxe" offering.
The room was VERY tired and well overdue for a facelift. Well away from the beach and the restaurant.
The hotel grounds are tropical and peaceful.
The layout of the restaurant for breakfast is poor - stations are spread in many directions and all a bit distant from the seating area.
Having cappuccino to order was a plus, but two cups are required to make a full mug!!
A good variety of other offerings were available. Waffles were impossible to resist and they were crisp and delicious.
A word of warning. The "taxi" counter is not for getting a taxi - it's a "front" for private operators and required bartering. Don't bother. A metered taxi must be ordered by reception or by using an app.
Not on the re-visit list for us. Closer to the shopping area and less off the beaten track next time.

Spent a couple of nights here and as previously enjoyed it very much. Check in was easy with Rini and all operating hotel services were explained. We were upgraded to an ocean front suite but as I prefer no stairs moved to a family room with any fuss. This room has a separate lounge and bedroom and also has a small double bunk bedroom if you have kids. The room comfortable furnished and spotlessly clean. The only issue with the room was 1 bedside lamp was obviously broken as the shade was just leaning against the wall and actually fell off when touched. Despite leaving the shade lying on the bedside table all housekeeping did when servicing the room was prop it back up. Breakfast in the restaurant was good and we were lucky to have a buffet 1 morning which was nice and the food was excellent (the cheese omelette was so tasty) and the other morning a la carte which was nicely presented and tasted great. The lunch/dinner menu is very limited due to the current situation which was a bit disappointing as we have always enjoyed dinner there on previous stays but this time ate outside the hotel. All of the staff here were friendly and attentive but we would like the thank Nurning, Vida, Desy and especially Christine for the exceptional and friendly service they gave us, making out stay much more pleasant.

When I describe my stay at Mercury as a fantastic experience, I am not exaggerating. I t was my home away from home for three weeks. Three weeks is enough time to see how the whole place treats it's guests. Stuff was never too busy to greet me with a smile and a kind wish for the day. It felt like I lived in a Balinese village with all upgrades of modern life and right on the beach with a beautiful taste of native culture in the evening entertainment that hotel provided.
All the territory is clean and well maintained. Like everywhere in Bali there is a temple. And I love the ambience of the temple and sitting in front of it was so sweet. One morning , four people were cleaning the temple grounds and a girl was singing Gayatri mantra in such a sweet voice.
I would love to come back to the hotel and experience amazing care of Rina from the front desk team who was the main reason I decided to stay there. She was knowledgeable and organized my stay really well, from the tour of the place to booking to laundry to maintenance to saying good bye when I was leaving. I am already missing Yanti, my massage therapist. Almost daily I went to her and she patiently took the stress out of my body with her kind hands and warm smile. Teri was always helping with food and I loved the variety for breakfast that they provided. I am a vegetarian and on a couple of occasions chefs made me a special dish per my vegan food preferences. I am planning to come back to Bali and this resort. I hope your stay will them will be as pleasant as it was for me.

Unfortunately location is the only good part regarding this particular accommodation, beach was quiet and relatively in pristine condition
However, our room is very dated and unimpressive, shower water pressure is too weak and barely hot enough, not to mention the broken state of room telephone thus necessitates us to use whatsapp instead
Breakfast buffet did not have any meat options beside sad slices of beef bacon and sausages
Worst of all was our experience at the supposedly private beach of this hotel, we were resting at those plastic rattan lounge chairs when a woman wearing beige uniform asked us “excuse me, do you live here?”
wow, can’t she phrase less impertinent sentences or at least approach us politely ? She acted as if we were shameless denizens that went to the beach simply to enjoy hotel facility, while to be honest we are not even Bali locals.
to be fair, I am unable to see her badge or any identification tag since she was holding big green towels in front of her, however seeing that rented towels at the poolside by the Pandawa restaurant was of similar color and her uniform is similar to hotel staff, I think you got my point
Now, what disappoint us the most was that she did not treat any of the westerners like that, instead she was offering them towels, drink, etc. None to us. What is the point of different preferential treatment to westerners from this lady? tips ?
What’s her point of idolizing these westerners anyway? although we are Indonesians, we are still PAYING guests.
This lady alone ruined our experience. If you don’t want to cater to Indonesians, might as well put a clear sign saying “NO INDONESIANS/LOCALS” by the beach
Afaik, Mercure is a 4 star hotel, but nothing i experience is four star worthy. Novotel was so much better albeit also positioned as 4 star.
Does Mercure get demoted to 3 star? I had better or comparable experience in ibis hotels. Definitely won’t come back or recommend this accommodation, sorry

Stayed a week in December 2019 as a family. The Mercure is not fancy but is well situated. Staff were very helpful. Can walk to Sanur beach markets which takes about 30mins but is a shady walk along the beach with many places to stop and eat if needed. Shuttle bus takes you to Hardy's but can be walked as well. Rooms and grounds are clean. Breakfast is quite good with variety. The only downside of this hotel is that both pools are very warm. They have dark tiles which absorb the heat. Not a refreshing swim, but the beach is fine. Would definately stay again here.

location was good for me. 12 minutes into Denpasar by Grab in the mornings. I liked the feel of this hotel - a bit older but very comfortable. Breakfast was standard for a hotel of this class, (no pork unless you asked for it. In Bali? really?). Great comfortable bed, bathroom with bath and shower and loads of hot water, no toilet washer - very unusual these days. I had one very good room service meal. Tea and coffee in the room was pretty minimal - no powdered milk provided. Nice pool and grounds and direct access to the beach. Only criticism was that on one night there was repair/renovation work going on neat the pool. Noisy and it took two complaints before it stopped.
I would definitely stay here again

We have been lucky enough to stay in several resorts along this part of the coast, and the Mercure is now a clear favourite.
We stayed for seven nights and absolutely loved our time there.
It is such a relaxed and friendly place you cannot help, but feel at home straight away.
Location – very good indeed,
five minutes walk from Reception, you are in amongst the bars, restaurants and shops. Walk through the resort and you are on the beach and all the benefits at that brings.
Rooms – currently a number of them are undergoing reservations renovations, but this caused us very little problems at all.
Most of it seems to be going on during the day when we were out at the beach and so on so we didn’t notice it much at all. We stayed in a standard room and an executive one and they were both superb. The executive room was more modern, but had a smaller balcony so they were pluses and minuses to both.
They were very comfortable indeed. You had everything you needed to feel at home, including hot drinks, making facilities, a safe, umbrellas – everything you needed. We slept particularly well and got very little outside noise.
The air-conditioning was good enough and the bed, very comfortable indeed. The little fridge came in very useful as well.
Wi-Fi – free for unlimited devices and a very good quality indeed. Reached all areas of the resort including the beach in parts and was good enough to stream video.
Pools – there were two which were beautiful. And great to cool off in.
There was very little by the way of selfish bed reservation as there are so many beds you didn’t need to do this.
The beach was the place to be though.
You are even given mattresses for on the Sun loungers which makes it very comfortable. A few more umbrellas would be beneficial, but there were again lots of places to relax and we never had any trouble getting two beds together.
Food – we had breakfast every day and it was very good.
I’m not sure why people say it is repetitive as there was a really big mix of international and local dishes, both hot and cold. The coffee was good as was the juice and the fresh bakery delicious.
Staff – I have no idea how they keep so many people so motivated. Everybody had a smile and a good day for you and they genuinely cared about you having a great time.
I don’t often do this, but I must single out somebody here.
Dayu was fantastic from helping us with our booking before we checked in and making sure we got exactly the room we asked for. She made the occasion very special for us and she is a massive asset for this hotel.

five minutes walk from Reception, you are in amongst the bars, restaurants and shops.
