The hotel/villa definitely needing some upgrading or renovation or refurbishing and improve on its cleanliness. Stained chair cushions all over the places

Our Resort is a unique heritage of more or less 100 hectares of land nestled in the cool temperature of Buleleng regency with spectacular view of mountains, golf greens, indigenous trees, surrounded by natural forest that supplies a lot of oxygen. I am sure that with those benefits of staying in our Resort creating memorable experience like no others especially in Buleleng regency or other areas in Bali. Recently we have done renovation to our hotel buildings and rooms gradually including the lobby drop zone, deluxe rooms, suites, premium chalets, villa and some of the garden view rooms, and we are still on progress to renovate some of the other areas in the Resort. Rest assured that we follow-up your feedback regarding cleanliness, WIFI, and breakfast variety which are things that we can improve. However, to revise your comment for stains on cushions it is actually not all over the place but only at a corner of lounge in our restaurant that we are actually on progress to replace the covers. Most of the time the natural temperature in our resort is cool because we are located at the mountains of Buleleng regency surrounded by lakes, therefore we do not provide AC in our rooms but in contrast we provide fireplace in some of the room types like premium chalets and villa. Yes, our staffs are trained to give best services to our guests just like you experienced. I agree with you that this is crucial considering that staying in a hotel is not only about views or building, but also about the people. Such a stunning location and so much potential, but you can really tell in the past couple years the facilities and hotel have been given no love or attention.
At check in they messed up our reservation as we were guaranteed 2 rooms side by side (because of traveling with children), when we got there they had given away the two side by side rooms and our kids had to be on another floor. Place was fully booked so we had no options.
Rooms: The rooms were modern, but everywhere you look it was falling apart... broken beds, stains on couches, stains on carpet, massive black marks and grime on walls, patio doors which didn't lock properly... the list goes on. The room had 2 towels, that's it (and there were 2 bathrooms). No hand towels, extra bathing towels nothing. No soap for showers. Our kids room (main floor) had an awful smell of mould the entire time, even after keeping doors open.
The grounds/golf course: The courses needed good maintenance, things were overgrown, all the resting/balle spots had broken benches and falling apart. The pathways had bricks missing making it difficult to drive cart and walk. We tried to have the kids play in the "kids putting area" only to be told there were no balls.
Only one restaurant was open and almost every day many items they did not have. One day it was milk for coffee, another day it was limes (and they were advertising a feature drink that required limes, everyday there were no strawberries - despite 100m from the entrance the strawberry fields were plentify). It was constant and actually started to become funny.
The staff tried their best, but it became obvious that the place was being run by the staff and that no GM or management was present. Such a shame as its location and grounds it could really be wonderful

I was undecided whether to stay at Handara after reading some of the reviews, but really pleased I did. We stayed in a garden view chalet which I feel was excellent value for money. There were no issues with the room which was spacious and comfortable. All the staff we encountered were friendly and provided a great service. We ate in the terrace restaurant both days and the choice of food and quality was very good. I agree that there is not much else to do at the resort other than golf, however the surroundings are very peaceful with great views. There are bicycles for hire and we had a walk around the grounds. The golf course has stunning scenery. The fairways were more leafy than grass and some of the greens were not up to standard, but I’m still pleased I experience a round of golf here. I feel the hotel has taken on previous guest feedback and has acted on any necessary improvements.

The rooms have no air conditioning. It gets very hot and you cannot open doors and windows as flies would come in. We had a window in the back of room 130 and there is a yellow garden light outside which flooded our room with yellow light at night and we could not sleep the whole night. Simple solution is to put a curtain there or move or switch off that garden light. What a waste of money and sleep in a beautiful resort. However the surroundings are stunning.

We arrived at 18:15, when check in is at 14:00, to be told our room ain’t ready as they have an issue with the door. After waiting till 19:00 we were told that the door can’t be fixed and we will be given an upgrade to a better room. When we arrived in the room it was the same, just with the golf view, next to construction, so we wouldn’t have peace during the day time. Where is the upgrade?! The restaurant was ridiculously expensive with tiny portions and average food. Our second evening we saw a rat around the restaurant and kitchen entrance. They were no taxi’s around or any way to get out and about so you basically stuck in the hotel. The cocktails were extremely expensive( 19€ for a Long Island?!?!? On what earth?) on day 3 on breakfast the staff were removing with a spoon a dead fly from the yogurt, instead of replacing it. In general the breakfast buffet was full of flies and pests all over the food. Table cloths were all stained. We ended up leaving a day earlier and nobody was bothered to ask why or get a feedback although we said the hotel is filthy.

Went to Handara following an invitation from friend and can’t be happier. Stayed at the 101 Chalet and it was beautiful. I’d rather call the decoration ‘vintage’ rather than old fashioned, as it was all recently renovated.
Came with my husband and kids and we simply enjoyed the view and nature.
There is no AC but believe me you wont need it anyway. It was 18’c at night and 13’ in the morning as you are surrounded with lush and beautiful mountains. There was a fireplace and we really enjoyed warming ourselves up in front of it as it flamed. Our breakfast was amazing. The kids had so much fun in the playground and treehouse.
One thing for sure, I recommend to stay in the renovated chalet or villa (ask them for availability) as the smaller rooms are still being renovated. Overall, a memorable experience!

Best hotel experience ever!! Handara has a very beautiful view surrounded by mountains and Lake Beratan can be seen from the hotel lobby.. the building is very unique, the rooms are comfortable and the restaurant serves very good food, there are lots of activities that visitors can participate in such as golf, archery, exploring the forest around Handara, cycling, learning Balinese dance, picnics and many more.. the hotel staff is very friendly, professional and very responsive in serving guests .Staycation at handara was very enjoyable and I will definitely come back again for the next trip..

Awful stay from start to finish. The room didn’t look like the pictures online, they told us this is because it’s a basic room. Ants were everywhere, cockroaches running around the room, lights not working, dirty sheets. Our first room was also next to a building site. We stayed one night and found a new hotel, it was truly awful. They promised a refund and knowing we are no longer in the area are now saying there’s a processing fee or they want to give it in cash. The golf clubs are very worn, one of the employees apologised for the state of them, basket ball hoops are broken, driving range area is a mess. We ordered food in the restaurant which arrived cold. Do not stay here.

Once again I would like to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience during your stay at Handara. Previously, I have contacted you personally and sincerely apologized as well for couple of times already. As I mentioned previously, in your case as you raised your concerns regarding insects and cleanliness, I have offered you a service recovery from our side which we have offered you to upgrade your room to higher room category, however you refused and asked for refund and we have refunded your money as well. The room that you booked was our standard garden view room, and actually we do have pest control who sprayed everyday with anti-insect, however as your room is surrounded by gardens if you still found any insects actually our housekeeping staff would be very happy to remove them if you reported to us at that time. Also we have manager on duty who in-charge on daily basis who would be very happy to assist any of your concerns during your stay. For your information we have some other higher options of the rooms such as deluxe, suite, premium chalets and villa. Stayed in this resort recently. The place is beautiful and full of energy. It is good to see the place is busy comparing to other place which are affected by Pandemic Covid-19. They also provide affordable short golf course guest can try. One of the trainer named Andre is very communicative and knowledgeable on golf. Thank you Andre for great lesson. This place is highly recommendable for those looking for beautiful and peaceful stay. Beside golf, one can enjoy their tennis court as well. Can't wait to be back Inputs for improvement : Linen having too much 'parfume' from washing process. It need to be softer smell. We got two pair slipper. One pair was all LEFT foot instead of Left and Right.
