OMunity and it’s owners Putu and ZanZan were and are some of the most welcoming, authentic and genuine people my wife and I have encountered in Bali (and in the world). Their eco lodge and retreat center is nestled beautifully in the mountains surrounded by jungle. We had communal meals, excursions led by friendly locals, and too many good memories to count. If you want to disconnect from a busy lifestyle and get a real taste of Bali, OMunity is the place. We will always remember our time here.

I’ve been in Bali for one month and visited Zanzan and his wife Putu a few days ago... they welcomed me warmly and let me share their beautiful house and shala... I watched Putu and her staff preparing the wonderful vegetarian dinner (the tastiest meal I’ve had in Bali, eaten all together family and guests in their huge dining table), soaked in their beautiful spring water pool, had an inspiring yoga initiation with Zanzan and spent a day trekking in beautiful valley with rice terraces spice farms and several waterfalls tasting all possible fruits and nice meals with a wonderful guide, arranged by Zanzan...

Such a horrible place!
The pictures definitely do not fit with the place! No one was able to speak with us because no one was speaking English!
The room is really different to the picture and the pool is really NO pool! Is dirty and definitely no swim worth
It is sad because we had to pay for nothing ! It is a trick
Sad to make such an experience while having a good holiday at Bali !
So attention and do not book that place !!!
The garden is not cleaned, also the room and the bathroom were really dirty! A really bad thing too is that there is no lock for the room either for the entrance to the hotel .. and the neighborhood is a little crazy so looking the door would have been great
And the insects were horrible !!
We told them that it is not ok for us and that we will leave .. the personal did not recognize us and let us go

First of all thank so much Zanzan et Putu for this unforgettable stay! It was one of the best experience of our life.
Don’t hesitate. You have to go. It’s not an hotel you’ll stay at, it’s a family that will welcome you with open arms and plenty of things to share.
The food was great, and share the food with other guests is an interesting experience to share tips and meet people.
You absolutely have to do the waterfall excursion (OMG) with Coco. He is just amazing. What a great guide. Thank you so much Coco for showing us the real Bali lifestyle.
Also Zanzan if you read this, thank you for being who you are. We can’t wait to come back and discover the OMG Retreat Center.

I stayed here for only a few nights but truly wish it was longer. It was a little hard to find but once we did it was like home away from home. The outdoor pool was quite unique in shape and very refreshing. Their meditation hall/floor can also be used for Yoga, Qigong Tai Chi group exercises etc. Ks Zanzan and his lovely wife Putu are truly wonderful, peaceful people. You feel this immediately from them when you're there. Ks mediates every morning around 6:30am and anyone is welcome to join in. There is a wonderful quick little Baleze prayer said by Ks or his son before dinner which really helps to bring everyone closer together. In my opinion Ks and Putu go out of their way to preserve a truly authentic Bali experience.
They also have some of the most scrumptious food I tasted on my 6 weeks of travel through 4 Asian countries. They also were able to arrange excursions to truly amazing and beautiful waterfalls and outdoor natural waterslides as well as they show you wild fruits we pick along the hikes that we eat. The excursions can be a of a hike but well worth the effort and you can swim in the exquisite waterfall pools too. I can't recommend OMunity enough and one day I will return and spend more time here.

OMunity is quite simply one of the most special places I’ve ever stayed. Stay here. Don’t think twice.
I stayed at OMunity for six nights as part of a five week solo trip through Southeast Asia. Having come from southern Thailand, OMunity was exactly what I needed- kind people, room to breathe and a genuine slice of Balinese culture.
It all starts with the food. Each day, they gather the absolute freshest ingredients- all bought from their local community to support and empower their neighbors- and cook not one, not two, but three feasts (breakfast/lunch/dinner). The food served at OMunity is 100% vegetarian and I believe most is also vegan. As an American that grew up on red meat (and still eats more than he should), I was a bit skeptical at first. Let me tell you- I could honestly eat at OMunity every day for the rest of my life. Not only was the food fresh and healthy, it was also incredibly flavorful. And outside of the mangos picked fresh from their garden, I don’t think I think I had the same dish twice (and it was the best Mango I’ve ever had so I wasn’t complaining)!
As an active 31 year-old, I was also interested in getting outside the gates of OMunity to explore all the natural beauty Bali has to offer. I came in with a solid plan based on research I had done prior to my trip but quickly scrapped that plan in favor of a truly localized experience crafted by Zan Zan (the owner) and his crew. First, we took a walk. But not just any walk, a walk through the jungles and rice paddies that are essentially at OMunity’s doorstep. With no other tourists in sight (!), we were handed fresh fruit directly from trees as we passed (Snakeskin fruit is my new favorite food of all time). We stopped and chatted with local families, who welcomed us with open arms. Around every corner, there was something new, beautiful and unchanged by tourists.
Our second adventure was a private tour to the Sekumpul Waterfall. We planned on going in the morning, but it rained so Zan Zan suggested the afternoon. Last minute changes- no problem! Our guide (Kadek, he’s the man) took us to all the best spots, took pictures for us and shared information about the area. When we (me and two others who were also staying at OMunity) wanted to put our stuff down to swim at the base of the waterfall, we could rest easy knowing Kadek was watching all of our gear (not that anything would have happened anyways, the area is incredibly safe).
My third adventure is one I will never forget. I came to Bali with the intent to climb Mount Batur for sunrise. Zan Zan told me that he had something much better…and did he ever deliver. Starting at 2:00am, Kadek and I trekked Mount Sudaji (the base is only a five minute drive from OMunity). Zan Zan and Putu (Zan Zan’s wonderful wife and master chef) woke up in the middle of the night to send me off with two veggie burgers and some hard-boiled eggs. The food ended up being a godsend because the trek to the top is a workout (we did it fast, which still took close to two hours, but you can go at your own pace). If you’ve done climbs before or are in halfway decent cardio-vascular shape, you’ll be fine. You don’t have to be an expert climber- I’m not, and at no time did I ever feel like I was in even a remote amount of danger. Kadek and I reached the top around 4am. We were the ONLY ONES up there!! For reference, I just talked with two other solo travelers who did Mount Batur and they estimated there were about 1,000 others doing the hike alongside them. With the sun rising around 5:30, we took the extra time we had to meditate (Kadek prayed at the Hindu temple located at the top), build a fire and enjoy the food Zan Zan and Putu packed for us. Around 5:00am, the birds started chirping and monks, located somewhere at the base of the hill started singing. Still gives me the chills. Then, around 5:30, the colors really started to pop! Reds, oranges, blues, yellows and pinks. Again, we were the ONLY ONES up there! We stayed and watched for around an hour before proceeding back down the mountain. While it was dark on the way up, the sun was now shining and it revealed panoramic views of the mountains, surrounding village and the sea at multiple locations. Really, really special. I returned to OMunity with a full breakfast ready and waiting for me, followed by one of the best massages I’ve ever had (60 minutes was $10!). Needless to say, the fellow travelers I’ve told all this to since are really regretting their trip to Batur!!!
There’s so, so much more, but this is already far too long!
TL;DR- Book your stay at OMunity NOW. Not only will you have an incredible, one-of-a-kind experience, you’ll also be supporting a wonderful community of people!

A very nice hotel where Putu and her husband, those excellent hosts made our holiday special. And there comes the time of our meal where we tried their traditional recipes.
The only negative was that there were big gaps next to the windows so during the night we had many flying visitors

We booked the place because of the wonderful description online.
However, it is totally different once you arrive....if your driver can find his way. After 6h of drive, our driver struggles to find the accommodation. Was such a nightmare to stop every 2 minutes to ask a local. We were exhausted and we felt sorry for our poor driver. Of course Sansan and Putu expected us to use Google Maps....guess what? Not everyone buys a Bali sim.
Be ready for room with not much space, open structure on the roof,....if you don’t like mosquitoes, you should avoid this place.
There was no toiletries provided as per the description on the booking.
I think it is way too expensive for such basic accommodation. And of course you can hear every single noise. And if there is no vacancy, you need to be quiet for your next door neighbour.
You have no choice for dinner as it is a remote location: $15 per person per night for only vego food ( 4 different + fruit) and no drinks.... far from Bali prices. But the food is good. Unfortunately we had one night with only spicy food....so if you can’t tolerate spicy, then there is no other option.
Be careful, every activity has a cost. Of course, they don’t tell you. You need to ask. $40 per person to see the waterfall .... really?! We refused every other activity after that.
It was never told what they actually give back to the community. The only thing they talk about is their next hotel idea and how awesome they are.
There is no wifi or TV, which was not a big deal for us.
The place is beautiful but too many animals wandering around. Some with skin diseases. Not good for kids.
Really disappointed by the whole experience. I will do more research next time I want a real and genuine nature experience.

The truth is, I dragged my family to this area of Bali to go see the waterfalls as part of our exploration of the island. I didn't want to waste time driving further north to Singaraja, and I saw Omunity had great reviews, but most importantly to me, it was close to the waterfalls. Little did I know or expect our stay here wouldw be the highlight of our trip. My only regret is that we only stayed 1 night.
From the moment you find Omunity (which can be a challenge... Just stop and ask the locals in the village and they will point you in the right direction) you are welcomed into a truly special place. The owners Zan Zan and his wife Putu are so incredibly sweet. They have a real passion for hospitality.
During our stay we enjoyed traditional home cooked balinese dinner and breakfast with the Zan Zan and his family as well as all of the guest staying that day. The food was incredible! Wait until you see the dining tables! We woke up before sunrise and did a one hour silent meditation with Zan Zan as the sun came up. Zan Zan then took us on a walking tour of the local village market, showed us their temple, and even his rice fields.
I really don't want to give away too many details here, because I believe you really have to experience this special place for yourself. I will definitely be making it a point to come revisit this place, and next time will be spending more than 1 day.

It is located in the mountains, about 20 mins by car to the beach. There are drinks available, not really a bar.
Thank you Moni ,,,,,
Look forward to welcoming you again
