Away from the hustle and bustle of Southern Bali, the coastline of Northern Bali is still pristine with natural sandy beaches, mountain and waterfalls. The Lovina Beach is renowned for dolphin watching, diving, snorkeling, and spectacular backdrop for sunset watching. From here, you can charter a boat to Menjangan island, home to amazing preserved coral reef. Drive to the streets of Ubud, where plenty of shops selling traditional handicrafts, wood carvings, jewellery and paintings. At its heart, Melamun Hotel is an excellent place to enjoy your experience of the 'untouched' Bali. Melamun Hotel, with its lush garden setting, superb facilities and impeccable service, offers privacy and tranquility. Rejuvenate your mind and body in our Sundara Chocolate Spa. Unwind with a fine meal and glass of wine in our Istana Nelayan Restaurant. Melamun Hotel is the place for you to enjoy your holiday and give you a glimpse of how the contemporary and the classic are intertwined on this legendary island.

Vacationing with family, we found a hotel that was very comfortable with the family. Rooms are clean and very well maintained. The hotel is close to the beach about 200 meters, the service was very friendly, we were greeted warmly and the employees always smiled. We will come back again to stay with family.

This is a boutique style hotel with bungalows overlooking the pool and gardens. Easy check-in, all in readiness for our arrival and we were enjoying our accommodation in short time. Staff friendly and helpful, trainees very enthusiastic and keen to please and be helpful. Quiet and peaceful. Room maintained very clean and hygienic. Bed comfortable and we enjoyed restful sleep. The restaurant was only open for breakfast, the bar not functioning. Few restaurants and cafes open in the vicinity due to the adverse effects of Covid.

Apart from the swimming pool, the kindness of the staff (only young men) and the bedding which is oddly good, you will not find anything really satisfactory in this hotel apart from the price.
The breakfast is very light and tasteless. The rooms are dilapidated and clearly shabby: door that closes poorly, air conditioning that makes a lot of noise, light that does not illuminate, and at the same time a light that cannot be turned off, broken furniture... good bathroom size but stained bathtub, damaged shower cubicle and stained floor, bathroom shutter with broken link...
Location-wise, it's 5 minutes from the beach, finally a pontoon with boats, and a lot of pushy sellers all along the road... in short, frankly, to do it again, we wouldn't stop at lovina... or else only for 1 night, just to enjoy the temples and waterfalls when you come from Ubud.

Room 103

For information, room 102 (we had 2 rooms during our stay) was a little better, more lit and a little less atmospheric.

We stayed at the Melamum for 4 days and we could easily stay for another 14. This is NOT Kuta... actually the exact opposite. Staff are helpful and friendly and our rooms were lovely and kept spotless by the cleaning crew. Breakfast was not only tasty but served in HUGE portions (we learnt our lesson after the first morning!) and with a restaurant on site lunch and dinner was on hand if you could not be bothered to walk 50m down the road.
So, what is different about this hotel? It is the extras, such as greeting you with a smile and offering to bring you a pot of excelent Bali Kopi while the rest of the world is still snoozing. It is "fixing" ornamental buttons to a favourite top (at no charge) and not accepting tips because tips go into a communal tip box, to be shared failry amongst all staff. It is about offering to go to the apotek to find antibiotics, and the next morning to go back to source some pro-biotics. It is about management that employs over and above the number of staff required because she has a mentoring and training program in place to ensure that the capacity of the locals are built in a sustainable way. It is about finding a cocktail on the menu called the Susie Melamun and over-indulging because they are so yummy!! It was because we could arrange for a masseuse to come to the rooms and provide a massage on our own veranda at a ridiculous price.

This is the best place I have ever stayed in Bali. First of all, value for money....I paid the equivalent of $45 Aud for impeccably clean, contemporary, incredibly well located accommodation. The bathrooms are pristine, the sheets white and clean, the gardens groomed and gorgeous but Melamun is far and beyond just a place to stay.

Susie, the Australian owner is a woman who has totally embraced Bali and truly lives the fabulous work ethic of "what you give comes back tenfold"

She is humble, but her Hotel is unique in many ways...the staff are all paid above local wages....she insists that staff have free meals and self expression. As an English teacher, she coaches young Balinese in English and encourages education in all her staff. Many of her staff are currently in Higher Education and she allows, tutors and encourages their study...in a country where most of them are born into poverty.By their employment, they are not only earning a wage that in most cases supports an entire family...but they are tutored and encouraged to study and better their lives. Susie also supports many local fund raising projects and while I was in Lovina, was working on sending a soccer team of young boys to Singapore to compete on a world stage. For a group of young boys who had never had the finances or opportunity...her involvement is immense...and life changing.

Great prices..healthy food..lovely staff and people that are prepared to go out of their way to help...and free transport locally...I could have stayed forever.

Stay here...it's brilliant

We stayed in October 2011, we booked through Agoda. We didn't know that they have website for booking, we end up paid more than the price in Rupiah due to exchange rate. We booked an extra bed as well. The location is far from Denpasar (but it closed to the famous "Mr. Dolphin" waroeng), we had to drive about 4 hours to get there, maybe more, because of mis-direction. We typed-in Jalan Laviana, but the GPS keep giving us different route. Later, we tried to type in Jalan Loviana, but we already found it ourself. The hotel is super clean starting from the main gate as soon as we arrived there. When we get there, the room was already prepared plus the extra bed (a little minor is the mattress for extra bed, I "sink" in the morning, because the foam was too soft, probably). And it is a very spacious, the bathroom also huge with standing shower (no bathtub), and it has been carefully thought that they make a slightly different of floor height from the shower to the sink, so the water will not flow to underneath the sink.
Although there is no tea/coffee making facility, but it is even better because we can just ask from the restaurant as many coffe or tea as we want, and anywhere/anytime we want to have it. Isn't that a wonderful service? Like having a butler to take care of us.
We can also booked the dolphin tour with the hotel, with reasonable price (Rp. 70,000 / person). There is also a fish feeding and snorkeling, but we only added the fish feeding (extra Rp. 30,000 / pax). We felt the extra cost for snorkeling is too much (extra Rp. 90,000) with such a limited location and few coral. The fish feeding is not that worthy either, the boat man only bring 2 chocolate bun to feed by himself and we just watch, sadly the current was quite strong, the bun kept sweep away. However, the boat man really make the efforet to look for quiet location to find us DOLPHINS, and many of them, magnificent!!

We stayed as a group of four in December. Rooms were spacious and I felt they were clean and tidy, large bathroom.
I didn't like the mosquito's that had to be sprayed every night!
Wifi was only good if you were closer to the entrance or sat outside our rooms which were at the end of the walkway.
Breakfast ...ugh ! Terrible ! We tried to ask for fresh fruit eg pineapple..no
Anything else ..no I gave up and had two slice of thin toast, brought my own pineapple. coffee was thick and sludge. If you wanted anything else like some milk for your room that was extra !
Staff were very pleasant and they had a car to take you into Lovina and pick you up which was great. Pool nice , decent size.
Overall , not too bad, needs menu updating

Our room was clean and staff were very friendly. Overall we were happy with our stay at the property.

We were disappointed to find out during check-in that the spa that was advertised when we booked no longer exists; however, this property still offers great value for money.

There is no "comfortable" chairs (sofa) in the room. But 2 wooden chairs in terrace, right in front of your room. Best spot of the room is bathtub in the bathroom. Enjoy your stay
