Detailed Reviews
We did a small coffee tasting and lunch here post waterfall visit and the family were above and beyond hospitable to us. They kept giving us extra pieces and things to try while we relaxed and chilled. Also there was a total no pressure presentation about all their teas and coffee's etc. We bought a couple things and the lady was kind enough to give us a couple extra at no charge. Just a wonderful small place which with nice people and it was a pleasure contributing a little to the local community by spending no more than we would for a couple grande cappuccinos at Starbucks back home.

This really is the definition on a homestay - you absolutely feel at home with Mary and Sugi. We loved staying here - cosy rooms with your own porch with an incredible view into the jungle. Spotlessly clean, decent hot water, hair dryer, fridge, mosquito nets (that we didn’t need) , reading lights - all for $22AU a night, breakfast included. Mary and Sugi organised everything for us - guide to the waterfalls including motorbike ride part way there, which we were thankful for and then transport to our next location. They are planning a pool which will be amazing after a big visit to the waterfalls.

I can't say enough good about the Sugi Gede Homestay. My wife and I were extremely impressed by the facilities, having stayed at a number of homestays throughout Indonesia I have to say that it might be the nicest one I've ever stayed at. It's not a luxury resort by any means but for a homestay having a hot water shower, a beautiful view, a comfortable bed, tasty food and a nice balcony is rare. The included breakfast was big and tasty! We loved just relaxing out on the balcony and with it being a special day there was traditional Gamelan music floating in the air up from a temple somewhere nearby in the jungle. One of the best parts was that there are a lot of tourist scams around the Sekumpul Waterfall (fake ticket posts as far as 30 minutes drive away from the actual waterfall etc.) Staying at the homestay enabled us to bypass them. They even gave us tags so we didn't need to pay for a guide when we went to the waterfall and just had to pay the cheap entrance tickets. I would highly recommend staying in this beautiful place to anyone interested in visiting the Sekumpul Waterfalls.

Nice and clean rooms, very friendly owner and all his family and tasty food. I’d definitely recommend this place, one of the best accommodation where we’ve stayed in Bali this year. Good position of the homestay for going to Sekumpul waterfalls and travel around.

Sugi and everyone who worked there was really lovely and friendly. The room was really tidy and it even had towels and a fan. If you want to visit the Sekumpul Waterfall, it‘s perfect to stay here. You need to walk for about 7 minutes to the ticket ‚desk‘ and with the special guest card you get from Sugi you don‘t need to pay for a guide and can explore the area on your own (I can really recommend the Fuji Waterfall, you pay a bit extra but totally worth it!).
You can also eat at the Warung which is right next to the room. The food is okay and cheap and you can pay when you leave, everything is very uncomplicated there. He will also help you to find a driver if you need one.
Totally worth it, would definitelly recommend.

Sugi was a great host through and through. He and his family also run a small Warung, Spice Warung, which has food for very affordable prices. The included breakfast is huuuge, you can choose between sweet pancake or savoury omlette, we had both and they were both great. You also get coffee or special herbal tea and small typically balinese fried bananas, as well as a huuge fruit platter.
The bed was great, the room very clean and the water was even warm, not normal for this area.
But the best thing about the homestay is the amazing location, Sekumpul Waterfall is just a few minutes away and if you stay with Sugi you can use his local pass to save a lot of money at the ticket booth. The Waterfalls are well visited tourist attractions of Bali, so like everywhere it is best to go early.
If you want to take in these majestic falls before busses full of Instagram-crazed people arrived, stay here. It really is worth it.

Don’t hesitate to pass by Gede homestay as it’s a great pleasure to stay there. The closest to the waterfall with a big discount included, only 30.000 instead of 150.000 rph. Food at the restaurant is great too. Terima kasih !!

Sugi and his family running the place are super nice, friendly and helpful. The place is very clean, very well located for waterfalls and the area around. We booked with airbnb for 2 nights, did not regret! Sugi has a nice warung for lovely dinners and beers after a long day on acceptable prices. Also owns a small store to sell kopi and tea and stuff, better buy from them than other stalls around ;)
Thank you Sugi
