Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you're looking for a five star luxury resort, this is not the place for you - If you're on a mission to get waves this is most definitely a top option. Nick and Dee have you covered - great food, great staff and great knowledge of local conditions. They picked me up from the airport and dropped me off so the trip was hassel free logistically. It's kind of like a family run back packers in that surf travellers are passing through all the time, might be quiet or party town depending on who's staying, either way: so great to meet other surfers. I've been twice now and loved it.

Recently got home from my third stay here and know it’s a place I will always be coming back to! A bit more intimate than your average surf camp, I’ve had days where it’s just me there and other days when there’s been 6/7 other crew, but most of the time will be a car load heading out on the hunt for waves! Unlike most surf camps, these guys will always try and find the best uncrowded waves to match the ability of whoever is surfing - and a lot of the time it might just be you and your crew with the waves to yourself! This is essentially a homestay with Nick, Dee & their 2 grommets, so respect your surroundings but don’t worry too much about stepping on toes - upstairs is pretty much a seperate area for crew and everyone is so accommodating here you’ll be made to feel at home in no time! Dee cooks up a storm and along with Nor & Inda you’ll be eating some of the best local and western food around the clock! And to add to the Balinese experience, Local waveguru Ketut’s guiding will be sure to leave you smiling ear to ear both in and out of the water! Eat, sleep, surf? This is the place for you! Note: Not the most PC of households so if you’re offended easily or don’t have a sense of humour maybe best to look elsewhere...

I’ve surfed with nick and his guide Ketut on 2 occasions now. Once last year and again on this trip. They are both great guys and very knowledgeable on local surf conditions. They can also get you to some of the less well known spots around Bali’s coast. When not in the water, the food at Nick’s place is tasty and there is plenty of it. Can’t wait till next visit.

Can’t say I’m one to do reviews usually but this place was sick. First surf camp I’ve been on and I honestly couldn’t have asked for anything more out of the experience. I was actually trying to find excuse not to surf cause I couldn’t even lift my arms most days. Nick really does have the place dialled in and knows all the spots to go that aren’t crowded and by aren’t crowded I mean we usually had the place to our selves at least for the first couple of hours and even then it was nothing like my local break. Great food, great company, a real live in experience and nothing but surfing...some days we would have 3 surfs. Yep! 3 surfs, one day. My surfing has continued to improve from all of the tips and advice I was given whilst there as well. Already booking my next trip

I have been to Wave Guru 2 times and I plan on going back again. Nick has the waves dialed, he finds breaks with little to no crew and helped out with some surf coaching along the way. Dee and the girls in the kitchen do amazing meals even for vegans!! I have many fond memories of my time there and met some cool guests. If you want to improve your surfing and have some adventures along the way I highly recommend Wave Guru. 5 stars Yew

What can I say about this place? How much time do we have? Could write a novel but I'll keep it simple. The greatest place on earth to improve your surf skills and have a tone of fun at the same time. From Nick's local knowledge, Dee's cooking, and Ketut and co's easy loving good vibes you are guaranteed to catch quality waves. I would highly recommend the Wave Guru Bali surf program to any level of surfer that wants to ride waves and get pitted. Thanks to the family for another epic trip!!! Yewwwwwww!!!!!! -Matt

I've done quite a few surf trips to Bali and the surrounding islands, trying out multiple surf camps, hotels on the beach and surf guides. Since I started going to wave guru I stopped experimenting. The past few trips all I've done is wave guru. Look no further, It's the best place to stay in Bali for a no fuss surf trip. Nick and Ketut will always find you excellent uncrowded waves, the food is incredible and plentiful, the bintangs are frosty cold, always plenty of laughs and you'll feel at home at the house. What more could you want? But let's be honest, we're all here for the waves, and the waves there Are plenty. We surfed fantastic waves all over southern Bali, often by ourselves or with very few people. Sure there's always going to be others in the water at the big name spots but Nick and Ketut know the best times to go, and they're often giving me the advice I need to be the person in the water getting the best waves of the day. I could talk all day about why I keep going back, but I won't, stop reading reviews and just book it! You won't regret it.

Headed back home with sore cheeks from smiling thinking about these 18 days with Nick and Ketut. What an epic time this surf trip was. Couldn't possibly think of a better way to spend my time in Bali than with these legends. Unless you're an unmotivated person who doesn't have the inner fire to take your surfing to the next level as one we might have come across for a few days at the house, you and your new salty mates will be up bright and early with Nick and Ketut, fresh coffee and porridge on the table, observing the curtains blowing direction to figure out on which side of the island you'll be shredding with a lovely offshore breeze right in your face that morning. Nick's awesome driving will beat crazy Indo traffic jams to take you to the suitable break for you even faster than a bloody rocket would, and he'll make sure you're pushing your limits a bit more everyday. Not even to mention that Dee, Nur and Diane will keep your hungry, hardworking surfer's belly so full of deliciousness at all times, you won't even have a chance to think of snacks between naps, massages and multiple daily sessions. No time to mess around, it's all business with the Wave Guru. So many amazing, glassy beauties of waves ridden with our sweet crew. Empty lineups, sick turns, cutbacks, sprays, laughs and adventures (like a f***ing pulse-accelerator terrifying and hilarious 1:00 am surf sesh under the full moon, as an example). Every wipeout, liter of salt water swallowed by the nose or new reef cut came with a side of constructive advice that sends me back to Margaret River's brutal breaks as a much more confident surfer. Not about to forget this amazing holiday that is definitely going to become at least a yearly thing. See you soon, legends!!!! Thank you soooo much!! Yew!
