#1 of 1 inn in Rakiraki
Charlie's Cottages are casual, peaceful, and lazy. You wake up to sound of the sea and wind murmuring through coconut palms. Then renew yourself with an early-morning dip in clear water surrounded by hundreds of colorful tropical fish. In the evening, after sunbathing and swimming, what is better than a shower, a cold drink, a hot meal, and finally relaxing on a comfortable bed?

We just got back from 2 days on the island. Especially on this beach there is 3 sisters with 3 places to stay. This one offers rooms but no food and the cottages are up on the hill. There basis but everything you need. If you bring food you can cook for yourself and there's a fridge provided. The other 2 sisters will cook for you if you prefer you just need to pre order each meal at the previous one. We ate at McDonald's. The family that own the cottages were really nice and friendly. We booked to dorm beds at $30 each but as no one was there with us we were upgraded for free to the double room. Go if you want time to relax and feel a little Robinson Crusoe.

We stayed at the cottage on top of the hill. It had great views and was very private, and fully screened-in. The cabin was big and had two rooms, and a screened-in porch. In total it had five beds, and can easily accommodate four singletons and a couple. The kitchen facilities were decent. And it is a great value for money. The cabin does need some TLC. The beds were a little lumpy, and one could smell the gas when the stove was not being used. I had to go out and close the gas tank valve to stop the gas from leaking from the stove when it was not being used. There is no hot water shower -- but I didn't mind it as I was snorkeling every day and was in the ocean. The fish and the corals off the jetty are nice. And you have two beaches to choose from - the calm leeward side with the fish and cold water; and the other windy side with warm water, which is great for kite surfing from what I hear. We couldn't walk around the entire island at high tide, but enjoyed the attempt. You have to bring your own food or go to one of the three restaurants on the island. The place does become noisy, with the generator running and the people living close by (owner's family). We met the staff on our way in and on our way out. It is pretty much a do-it-yourself place.
