A true luxury personalized Fiji experience!

Location:
Stunning and lives up to the pictures, the view is incredible from the villas. You are perched up and surrounded by thick rainforest with amazing sunset views. It is a nice change from the usual beach resorts in Fiji and you’ll experience the more authentic side of Fiji.

Villas:
Well maintained with all luxuries you’d expect, including stocked personalized fridge, Pure Fiji/Aesop amenities, slippers, robes, good air conditioning and most importantly are bug free. You’ll get the odd occasional fly/bug come into the room but expected in an exotic environment. The infinity pool and deck area is where you’ll spend most of the time, we choose to fully disconnect but there is also apple tv and good wifi.

Food:
We travelled around Fiji across many resorts but the food at Emaho is what we remember most. Kim who was our personal chef for the stay was fantastic and created a personalized menu just for us and even catering fully for a gluten free intolerance! Gluten free bread and even a freshly baked gluten free carrot cake and sponge cake on our final night were not expected in such a remote location. Some of the other food highlights were the amazing lobster feast, Thai/Asian inspired dishes, Fijian deserts and breakfast spreads. Cocktails were also delicious here made freshly, recommend the Tom Collins and Mojito, it was a treat to have these whenever we wanted right on our terrace.

Activities:
Everything was catered around us and we were able to make our itinerary as we felt each day. The resort has a comfortable and much needed for the terrain Ford Ranger Raptor for transport which was perfect for our local village tours, waterfall tour, beach, town tour and getting to/from the airport. Rupei took us around as our guide and was amazing and knowledgeable. Ru is a real asset to Emaho and very humble/genuine

Service:
This is what sets Emaho apart, with just three villas you can expect unrivalled personal service. Everything was done to our time and plan. Every staff was exceptional and authentic, you become part of the family and we learnt so much about Fiji during our stay with Emaho compared to any other resort we stayed at in Fiji. The final night we were serenaded with music and took part of the Kava ceremony with staff and locals, a magical and once in a life time experience that we will never forget and truly thankful to have been part of.

Thank you Emaho Sekewa, we hope we can return one day!

This resort will take your breath away. It is that beautiful. If you’re hesitating to book, just go ahead as you will not regret it. If you can’t please do put Emaho Sekawa on your bucket list.

For us this was a wonderful vacation that will stay in our hearts and minds forever. Our stay at Emaho flawless. The entire trip to Fiji far exceeded our expectations. Emaho Sekawa resort has the perfect balance of privacy, luxury, nature, romance and perfect service mixed with a healthy doze of Fijian authenticity. It was just perfect for us.

This was a vacation planned well ahead, almost a year in advance, so we knew what to expect, yet every day was a blessing filled with unexpected surprises. The staff was super friendly, respectful and kind. Just beautiful people.

We arrived tired from a long trip and a really hectic year and left rejuvenated, ready to face the new challenges in our lives. My hubby and I agreed that the money spent on this trip to Fiji, was well worth it as we left with great ideas on how to tackle our current very complex business situation. We were truly able to get some incredible rest, lots of TLC and peace and quiet with ideas just flowing to us from the beautiful Emaho surroundings.

We found this place extremely inspirational. The views, the atmosphere and the super care of the Emaho staff were all big part of this magical experience. Meals were extraordinary in size, freshness, taste and presentation. The accommodation/our villa was superb. We are pretty active couple and very much enjoyed some of the activities offered. My favourite was the big waterfall hike and Mike’s favourite was his fishing trip with Lucas. We both loved having massages during sunset before dinner time.

We can’t recommend this magical place high enough. I don’t like writing reviews, but our stay was so good I do feel like I need to share it with others. We did book our stay based on the reviews we read, so in a way we’re just returning the favour. When you finally get to Emaho, enjoy your stay and please say hi to Simeli, Silika, Joe, Mere and Di (and Lucas).

I was blown away. The location, the accommodations, but mostly by the people who we met there. We were a group of 8. I don't think they had ever had one group with so many people before. If that is so, they passed every test with flying colors! We were treated like one of the family. We all decided we wanted to have all our meals in the main pavilion next to the kitchen. Easier for the staff to deal with, and we could hear all their happy voices and laughter while we ate and drank and chatted. And the meals....our chef Zach was amazing! We had Simeli and Kele there to drive us around wherever we wanted to go. And they were always willing to talk about Fiji and answer our questions. And all the ladies who are the staff there...beautiful and friendly. We all felt we got a taste of Real Fiji, and we all agreed we could not have had a better time. My only regret was leaving. And hopefully, someday, we will get back there. Keeping my fingers crossed!
In short, we all recommend Emaho Sekawa 100%

My wife and I spent our 2nd anniversary in Fiji. We had the luxury of visiting two resorts and sailing on the Tui Tai. We stayed at Namale resort for two days and loved it. Then sailed the Tui Tai for a week and had a great time there. Little did we know that we had saved the best for last. Our week at Emaho Sekawa was magical. We had seen the website before we left but it did not prepare for the experience of Ehaho Sekawa.
When we arrived we were taken to our villa. Absolutely amazing accommodations. Petra and Lucas spent four years building this villa and it shows. from the infinity pool to the tasteful decor, to the amazing view. The picture on the website of the peak over the rain forest, THAT is your view from your deck. Stunning, amazing, breathtaking, pick your description but it is unparalleled, and I have been many amazing places in my life. This is in the top 5.
So you have great villa, beautiful view and you are in Fiji. Pretty great so far, but it gets better at Emaho Sekawa!
First you are the only guest. The entire staff at your beck and call. Petra and Lucas are wonderful hosts and always checking on your satisfaction and needs. George the chef is phenomenal. Something you like he will accommodate. Want more of something, no problem. Want it at 3:30 or 5:00 or first thing in the morning, you got it. Always fresh, always delicious. All of the staff genuinely friendly in that Fiji tradition that amazes anyone from the West.
My wife and I are very active, and Emaho Sekawa delivered with a variety of expeditions that we still we talk about. If you are in shape, the waterfall is a non-miss excursion. But the beauty of Emaho Sekawa is that you can do whatever you want. You want to lie around the villa drinking champagne in the infinity pool, no problem. The masseur will arrive at the time you designate. Want to hack you way through the jungle to a waterfall that few ever see, still not a problem. You design your trip and Lucas and Petra will accommodate.
We can't wait to go back, and next trip we will be bringing our new daughter. I am told that Fiji women are excellent with children!

First let’s get a few things out of the way. My husband and I don’t scuba dive. We don’t water-ski or wind-surf. What we wanted from our Fiji vacation was beauty and relaxation. And that's exactly what we got, starting with an unforgettable flight over sparkling water and fluorescent blue-green coral reefs to the lush island of Vanua Levu and the tiny Savusavu airport, where Lukas and Inise were waiting to greet us and take us to Emaho Sekawa Luxury Retreat. From that moment until our departure 11 days later, the wonderful Emaho Sekawa team looked after us, attentive but never obtrusive, combining ultimate professionalism with a warm, personal touch.

Many happy hours were spent in leisurely walks, gathering seashells on the beach and admiring the truly astonishing variety of tropical plants on the Emaho Sekawa grounds. Other times we were content just to hang out in our private villa on top of the world, enjoying the fabulous ocean, rainforest, and mountain views—watching the sun set, the moon rise, and the fruit bats in twilight flight. We experienced many culinary pleasures, eating coconut, papaya, bananas, and passion fruit fresh from the garden. Kokoda, the delicious local version of ceviche became an instant favorite, as did palusami, a savory coconut cream wrapped in dalo leaves. A salad of wild ferns picked by the wise and wonderful Kini, with her extensive knowledge of horticulture and Fijian herbal lore was another hit. And there were tropical cocktails and a lovely selection of wines to accompany the meals, which, like every part of the Emaho Sekawa experience, were designed and executed with imagination and taste—and always with an eye for what we liked and what we wanted from our vacation.

One day Petra took us to Vunivesi Village, where we partook of a ceremonial bowl of kava and saw traditional dances performed with spirit and charm by a group of local youths. Although the entire performance was put on especially for my husband and me, it didn’t feel “touristy.” Instead, there was an intimacy and authenticity to the experience, and we felt very honored by the attention, which included a tour of the small village and its lovely gardens. As always, we were struck by the friendliness of the Fijian people and by the sense of mutual interest and respect that accompanied all of our interactions with them. When we remarked on a large textile featuring the Statue of Liberty hanging from the balcony of a 2-story home and visible throughout the village, we were told this was the chief’s house. We assume that he or she (yes, there are women chiefs in Fiji) put out similar displays for British, Australian, and other visitors, a typically thoughtful and diplomatic gesture.

Twice we got a ride into Savusavu Town where we strolled in and out of the central farmer’s market and various little street front shops. There was not a Starbucks or McDonald’s or Gap anywhere to be found. Instead (and far more interesting), there was a local DVD store carrying every volume of "The Gods Must Be Crazy" (who knew there were so many, but obviously the material strikes a chord) and a tiny mini-mart selling machetes, Coca Cola, fresh fish, and—as the owner proudly pointed out on a shelf above our heads—a casket. Forget AM/PM—this is a serious convenience store, one that takes customers from cradle to grave!

The multicultural aspect of Fiji was very evident in Savusavu: statues of Ganesh rubbing shoulders with tikis; Thai, Indian and Fijian curries sharing menus with pizza and steak; a humorous headline “Off With Her Head!” in the local newspaper, referring to the imminent phasing out of the old Fijian currency with Queen Elizabeth on it; billboards advertising local beer; Mormon missionaries walking down the street in gray flannel sarongs; local police in spiffy black-and-white sarongs with zigzag hemlines and stylish shoes! And driving out of town, a group of children playing soccer in a field and an old woman’s gap-toothed smile as she carried what had to be a very heavy load of sugar cane on her shoulder... So many images engraved in our minds.

Although, as previously mentioned, my husband and I are not particularly athletic people, we did enjoy some beginner’s level water sports, under strict supervision of course! We tried kayaking. And my husband enjoyed a sport fishing excursion with Lukas one day and snorkeling at Sand Island another. (He is still raving about the beautiful cobalt blue starfishes he saw there.) I thought the native approach to fishing looked more my speed—family groups wading far into the shallow waters, talking and laughing and splashing (it looked like a party to me), and then returning to shore with beautiful fish wriggling in their hands, ready for their beach barbeque! I hope next time I visit that I might be invited to join one of these fishing excursions!

One evening we dined at the Cousteau resort, a beautiful place, but big and impersonal compared to Emaho Sekawa. And then, on our way back to the U.S., we spent several hours exploring the large “resort village” at Denerau Island on Viti Levu, with its great crowds of tourists shuttling between a half dozen major hotels (which all looked pretty much the same to me), beaches, golf course, marina, Hard Rock Café, souvenir super-shops, and so on—a commercial hub completely cut off from any real sense of place or people or from what I believe is the “real” Fiji.

In my mind, this kind of packaged tourist paradise cannot begin to compare with the Emaho Sekawa Resort—the private, serene and quite transcendental setting; a level of care and attention to detail that goes far beyond "room service" (did I mention fresh flowers on our bed and all around the Villa every day!); and the unique opportunity to actually experience the Fijian people and culture in a personal and meaningful way. Our island getaway represented 11 days of complete escape from urban stress, a taste of life lived within the rhythms of nature. And Emaho Sekawa itself was the perfect combination of simplicity and luxury. It was an amazing vacation, both physically and spiritually revitalizing. So we say to all of our friends at Emaho Sekawa, “Vinaka vaka levu.” Thank you very much. We miss you, we treasure our memories of the time we shared with you, and we look forward to returning someday.

Our seven day honeymoon at Emaho was magical. It was what all that we dreamed of and more. Simply put, we cannot image a more perfect place for our honeymoon vacation. During our time at Emaho we were spoilt beyond imagination. Scrumptious meals, great wine, view to die for, splendid villa and lovely staff that was always there to attend our every need.

We are both very active and were able to attend almost all of the actives offered as we stayed quite active during our stay, besides a few lazy afternoons. We really loved that we were able to do all the activities just us, without seeing or sharing with other guests. We wanted to be alone during our honeymoon and Emaho was the perfect place for us as all the trips were individually booked.

In my opinion, what makes Emaho so special, is that you feel like you are the center of universe as everything is only about you and you shouldn’t feel any other way during your honeymoon. That is why this place was perfect for us and that is why we highly recommend it to other couples.

The only downside was that at the end of our stay the weather stopped cooperating and we had to cancel our dive trip due to strong wind advisory. We still enjoyed our stay with morning walks on the beach and afternoon massages. Perhaps the bad weather happened for a reason, as we now have a perfect excuse to return next year.

We would like to give special praise to the Chef, as the meals were truly superb, always fresh and absolutely delicious. There was lots of variety with different meals every day. We got everything we asked for even if it wasn’t on the menu. Emaho was the first half of our honeymoon in Fiji and far exceeded the other resort we stayed in, which was bigger and more popular. The privacy, food, staff and overall feel way superseded every resort we ever stayed in.

Three highlights: Location, staff & activities. (followed by food & privacy)

No matter what your vacation event is you can’t go wrong with Emaho. It is a place to be remembered and returned to.

THANK YOU EMAHO
