I don't often write reviews, but we were so lucky to find Nakia Resort and to have a fantastic 5 nights there recently. Jim and Robyn, the owners, arranged for us to be picked up at Taveuni airport just less that 15 mins away from the resort. We stayed in the Sunset Burre which had a beautiful view out over the ocean and we ate each day at the resort restaurant, where the local chef's cook meals to order for you and use only fresh local ingredients and fruit/salads from the Nakia's gardens. The food was one of the many highlights of our stay and felt like having your own personal chef. We had a day out with the Nakia's dive boat just guided snorkeling on Rainbow Reef, although the diving looked amazing and was very professionally run - we are long-term divers so know a good, safe dive operation when we see one. Nakia also dropped us over to the east side of the island to do the Lavena Coastal walk and waited to pick us up on return. All I can say is great hosts, a beautiful place, lovely staff and fantastic food - and all of it, I think, great value for money. Thank you Jim and Robyn, we loved our time with you.

The ocean views, the delicious food, the kind and friendly staff, and the freshwater pool are just a few of the reasons to stray at Nakia Resort and Dive. This was my fifth trip to Fiji and second one to Taveuni. I was going solo this time to get certified for diving. I haven't traveled without my husband in about 15 years unless it was a work trip. He couldn't get away and encouraged me to go for it. So happy that I went. Fiji is a glorious place and Taveuni is lush, green and full of the kindest people we've ever met from all our travels. The owners and staff were so delightful and I really felt taken care of the entire week. My husband remarked on how stress free I sounded as I talked to him from my bure's deck while looking out to the ocean. Most days I had the windows open for the ocean breeze, but for a few hot days the air conditioning was a welcome cool off and worked so well. There's quite a lot to do on the island activity wise from waterfalls, hiking, diving, boat trips and snorkeling or just stay on the resort and relax by the pool. Again, the food was delicious and plenty of it. Fresh baked breads and they have a huge organic farm so my salad and fresh fruits came straight from the garden everyday. The place is moderately priced and I felt spoiled while there. My husband and I are already planning a return trip together.

This place is wonderful. It's hard to describe how great everything is. It's beautiful, peaceful, clean and the food is excellent. All organic. I was (we) going to stay for a week, but extended the trip to 12 days and would have liked to have stayed longer. Robin, Jim, and all your wonderful staff. Thank you. The divings with Julie and her crew were also “next level”. The greetings in the morning filled my heart with joy. The service on the boat and all the beautiful divings with professional divemasters and crew. The gathering and singing. I feel blessed. You all made me love Fiji. Hopefully I'll be back soon.

When we arrived in Fiji, we were greeted with the phrase "welcome home" and that is certainly how we felt while staying at Nakia. Our party of four stayed in the Somosomo Bure with its amazing views of the water. Beds were comfortable and the front porch was a great place to spend time after diving and snorkeling. The staff was friendly and accommodating with any special requests that we had. The food was excellent and we loved the fresh ingredients that were picked out of the garden each day. They sent us off with a hearty packed lunch the day we went to do the costal walk to the waterfalls which was very much appreciated. Vinaka to Jim, Robin, and all of their staff for a wonderful experience!

My wife and I were very lucky to have found Nakia. The location is awesome, the food is outstanding and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. We came to dive and the dive shop that Julie runs that is part of Nakia is outstanding. The crew and guides are the best I have experienced. Safety is a priority and we appreciate that philosophy. Robin and Jim are wonderful owners and make you feel at home. If you want to dive Rainbow reef then Nakia is the place to stay. We will be back !

Without hyperbole, our visit in June of 2022 was perfect. My wife and I fell in love with the resort. The owners and the staff became friends. The food was amazing. It was, in short, everything we could personally ask for in a vacation experience. We eagerly booked again for a return visit in 2023. Typically, we have found that the second visit anywhere doesn't quite live up to our memories of the first trip. That was not the case at Nakia. Our return visit just cemented our affinity for Taveuni, diving the Rainbow Reef, Nakia, and the friendships we made with the owners and the staff on our first visit. Our stay was 11 nights. We each morning and recharged each afternoon. It was perfect. On our last trip we visited the waterfalls at Bouma. This time we did the Lavena Coastal walk. Both are excellent hikes that expose you to more of Taveuni and astound with their natural beauty. Food: Fruit straight off the tree, salads made with greens picked that morning, local caught fresh fish, chefs cooking their family recipes...We never had a meal that was anything less than delicious. Desserts were delicious. Smoothies were made with the freshest of fruit. Hibiscus tea, refreshing spring water, amazing curries, local cuisine that was fantastic. Everything was delectable. Atmosphere: We don't want to be in a crowd. Our vacations are for recharging and reconnecting. Nakia has 4 bures and only one of those is setup to for more than 3 people. Want to go to the pool? There's plenty of room. Want to lounge in the shade? There's hammocks and the cliffhouse. Want to stroll around a lush tropical paradise with flowers and fruit? That's where you're staying. Want a beautiful view to watch the sunset over the Somosomo Straight in Fiji? This is the perfect spot. We want to see more of Fiji but I'm not sure why we go anywhere else there is no chance other places will live up to the standard our 2 trips to Nakia have set. We will be back in 2024.

Stayed here as part of a long honeymoon around Fiji and Australia. Nakia is a great spot to stay if you want to dive the Rainbow Reef. The position is ideal for diving and the owners also operate the main local dive and water sports outfit, so they are really well set up for helping guests do all the great stuff that Taveuni has to offer. My wife and I did the introduction to scuba day as well as lots of snorkelling on the reef and in all instances the instructors were fantastic and the experience unforgettable. Special mention to Frank who we both thought was a brilliant dive instructor - tactful, knowledgeable, kind and helpful. Julie, the owner of the dive shop, was really helpful and patient with my many questions - she knows the island backwards and can hook you up with anything you may want to do, from surfing to snorkelling. Ron took us on the Lavena coastal walk and really brought it to life with his rich knowledge of the local flora, as he is a green-fingered sort of guy, and our other guide was equally helpful at the natural water slide. The resort itself is very peaceful and beautiful, situated up the hill from the boat launch with perfect views over the Somosomo Straits, making for spectacular sunsets. My wife and I are hardcore foodies and we both thought the cooks here were fantastic - the fish curry was the single best thing I ate in the entire three-week trip. The bures are well equipped with AC and insect screens so no worries if you're a mosquito magnet like me. The only downside to mention is that there's no bar, only beer and wine, so if you're the sort of person who likes a sundowner on your vacation you need to go up the road to one of the bars/resorts for that. But overall, it's a great spot.

The week we spent at Nakia was magic! The setting is beautiful, the staff were incredibly gracious and helpful. We loved getting to know the owners, chatting late into the evenings. The dive operation connected to the resort is incredible;uy well run and all of the dive staff were very professional, skilled and fun to hang out with. The diving was beautiful. It felt very safe during the early opening after COVID. I would go back in an instant!

We thoroughly enjoyed a week of staying at Nakia with diving everyday. The three of us stayed in Somosomo Bure. The view deck is perfect for relaxing after diving. The food was exceptional. We tried most of the items on the menu and were never disappointed. The homemade bread is a daily treat! The diver operation is very well run. We completed 14 dives, including three dives at the Great White Wall. Each dive was a treat. Rainbow reef is in excellent condition with healthy coral and thousands of schools of fish. The dive guides were very helpful, yet let us set the pace. Each day, we had a dedicated dive master for our group of three. The dive boat is well equipped and the staff is very helpful. Robin and the team at Nakia are amazing. Excellent, friendly service. It's a very small resort with only a few rooms. We enjoyed a Cava ceremony on night with the staff. Ron, the driver and guide, was very friendly and helpful, leading us one afternoon on the waterfall hike. Nakia is a well run resort and dive shop. We would love to return some day.
