Guests have consistently praised Amwaj Beach Club Abu Soma for its spacious and clean rooms, although a handful point out that the decor could use a refresh. The friendly and helpful staff contribute to the hotel's lively atmosphere, which is often enlivened by entertaining animations.
While the hotel's cleanliness and diverse amenities, including the pools and private beach, are frequently lauded, some visitors suggest that updates are needed. The value proposition garners mixed reviews, with successful negotiations noted by many, but some guests are disappointed by additional costs and food quality.

Travelled as a large family in April 2017 and revisited on Christmas Eve
2019 for 2 weeks, just me and my Daughter.
Rooms
So we had a standard room, could do with updating but was spotlessly clean and the cleaner was very thorough (even arranged our toiletries into height order)
We had a small double bed each and were on the first floor (there are lifts). There is a small fridge in the room with kettle and replenished tea coffee sachets each day, 1 bottle of water per day per person also in the room. Hairdryer, soap and body wash provided. Shower was very powerful
There is an option to upgrade and the rooms are more modern, soft drop is I the fridge each day with this option.
Pool
As we visited in Dec/Jan, the large pool was very cold, I braved it once, that was enough.
There is a heated pool though which was nice.
All very clean and lifeguard on duty.
Beach
The beach guy Ahmed always made sure we had beds where we wanted (near the bar and the sea) always friendly and smiling. The beach was clean and lots of sunbeds available. Beach and ool towels are provided. The ses is quite shallow at the waters edge and streches quite far and is still shallow. Perfevt for small children wanting to addle and play on the shallows.
There is a pier which you walk down to the end where there are steps into the sea, amazing fish to be seen, like a fish tank. Lifeguard also at the beach and pier, life jackets and snorkel available to borrow.
Staff
The Staff definitely take this experience form a 10 to a 20. They are so friendly and happy, even the top managers will go out of their way to say Hello and Good Morning, special mention to Mohamed in the Lobby Bar, never an empty glass.
My daughter celebrated her 16th birthday whilst their and they reserved a table in the Restaurant where they knew we liked to sit, and brought her an amazing tasty cake. Very special touch.
Entertainment
Absolutely loved the entertainment team here both times. Lots of activities to join in with if that's what you want, we didnt as we went to relax Haha.
Special mention for Kimo, Rebecca, Momo and Sonic. Went out to the Club in Hurghada with these after feeling a bit reluctant due to safety, but we felt so safe and looked after by them.
Christmas Eve and New Years Eve
The hotel put on a gala dinner for both of these events with a large tent with Fab entertainment and amazing food. Absolutely awesome nights.
Overall
Highly recommend this hotel, to Families and couples alike. The only downside is there isnt any freebwifi apart from in Reception, so its payable. €7 for 1 day €25 for a week we bought a day loaded sim card in the airport from Vodaphone stand. It's around £1 per GB. We had 30 GB and it didnt run put and we used our phones a lot.

I visited this hotel alone between 11/1/20 - 18/1/20, on arrival all staff were brilliant, my patio door lock had been broken, I informed reception straight away and I was immediately moved to a different room, on waking the following morning I realised I'd taken my phone charger cable but left the plug at home... School girl error! I took it to reception and they knew I needed to contact home to let family know I was OK and they charged my phone (little thing but big to me) anyway me being me I was at reception most days asking for something or another, the staff would see me and even if they Thought oh no what's wrong they didn't show it, they smiled and osman and his staff were always very helpful and obliging with me, I couldn't fault them.
The rooms were big and lovely presented and furnished, rooms were cleaned every day, bottled water was left in room every morning, beach towels are in your room on arrival and there are little towel exchange huts for you to swap for clean ones, don't lose them or you'll be charged, food was always available, a bit repetitive but isn't this the case with most all inclusive, the waiters in the bars are amazing, you don't have to move out of your seat, as soon as they spot your coming to the end of your drink a fresh one is placed on your table, and always with a lovely smile and a chat, nothing is too much trouble.. the hotel has its own beach and pier, the hotel is set my itself out of the way of other hotels but rest assured you didn't need to leave the hotel for anything other than trips as they have everything there, chemist, clinic, spa, hairdressers, gift shops. promotion staff and activity staff come around every day offering massage etc but if you don't want their services they are polite and don't pesture you, they have a chat and leave you in peace. There's an Italian there which I recommend. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and I felt safe thanks to the friendly staff, there are security guards on the drive way to the hotel, there's security guards at the hotel entrance along with a body scan and there are guards around the hotel. I had an amazing holiday I hope my review helps future holiday makers.
The hotel is closing shortly for refurbishment and a lot of changes so reception told me and it is going to be more amazing than what it already is.

excellent food, great service, very nice staff. the room was clean and functional, the area is not too big, the beach is cleaned daily. special thanks to the life guard named Mustafa, he was very nice, helpful, he advised us on every thing we asked about. the lobby bar and beach bar staff were also very pleasant and funny, we enjoyed delicious food in the main restaurant and also in the beach restaurant. there is plenty of bottled water everywhere, wifi is free and in the entire hotel area (except the beach). the only negative of the hotel is its location, if you want to get somewhere (Hurghada, Senzo Mall, Safaga), everything is quite far and there are no buses or taxis available. the only option is the hotel taxi, which is very expensive. otherwise, I recommend Uber and, of course, price negotiation (the price given by the Uber app is not accepted by the driver). there is a coral floor at the hotel, so water shoes are required. every day there is quite a high tide here, but the big attraction is the living coral reef right next to the pier, where you can see the wonderful underwater life. I would like to return to this hotel anytime.

In 2018 I was at this resort but at that time the Albatros Beach Club but at that time its name was "Amwaj Blue Beach Resort".
Great location, the grounds was always spotless, well maintained, rooms were cleaned daily and had white bed sheets which were spotless.
All personnel working at the resort was very courteous, always smiling and talking in a pleasant way which made me feel welcomed.
I could name few of the workers from the bar, the restaurant and the Aqua Club which I interacted with but then it wouldn't do justice to the others which were equally pleasant and nice with us.
When I was there (when resort was Amwaj) the food was fresh but the dish diversity did not have a wide variety so most likely after the first 3 days you already knew what's for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I am assuming the name changed due to new ownership and new management, so I hope the new owners and management beside the obvious upgrades to the rooms, grounds, beach area from design and amenities point of view, they also upgraded the Meniu to get it up to the level of today's management requirement.
It would also be a good idea to incorporate the Kite-Spot (I think the name was Abu Soma Kite Spot) which was on the side of the Resort.
Since the only other REAL kite-spot is the SurfMotion next to Sentido Palm Royale, it would be a great addition that will bring more kiteboarding guests which now prefer Sentido Palm Royale for its proximity to the SurfMotion Kite-Spot.
Anyway the Albatros Beach Club (which use to be Amwaj Resort) can stand right beside Sentido in terms of level of services and amenities offered to its guests.
For this summer I may consider Albatros Beach Club just to make a comparison between what use to be Amwaj and what is now Albatros.

The hotel is far from the airport, it is a long bus drive away. Specially when the travel agency is stopping at many hotels. But for sure this is not a mistake of the hotel. Around the hotel is nothing, just sand, everything that is worth to see in the city is far away. After we checked in we got an really nice room, comfortable and giving a feel good atmosphere. The Roomboy we had took good care of it and we were really satisfied with him and the cleaning in the room. Everything inside is following the hygienic rules obviously. We had our first shock when we got to the restaurant after, there is no glasses for the drinks, just plastic cups. Probably the hotel does not care for the environment that much, otherwise they would not use disposable cups. In a 1 or 2 star hotel i could understand if there is no glasses for the guests, but not in a 4 star hotel. At least the hotel could use reusable cups if they dont want to give glasses for the guests. The food was in the beginning really nice, but after a few days the food in the buffet just repeated, there was not a big selection of meat, fruits and side dishes, nearly every day the same. But still it was very delicious and the chef is deserving a big praise for it. The pools are nice and there is enough place for everyone. The animation team is nearly not visible, it was boring for us and nobody came even one time to talk to us or invite us for any activity. The beach is unfortunately tiny and we would not recommend it for snorkeling. All in all the hotel is great, just some minor details are not good.

Dear Nastya, We are so sorry to hear that while the service and atmosphere were great, we didn’t meet your expectations when it came to food variety and animation program. We sincerely apologize about the issues you experienced, and we hope to make this right. Our main restaurant offering every day 3 type of glasses: carton cups, which is always available near cold drinks machine, plastic cups which you can find also in cold drinks area, and white ceramic cups for tea and coffee at coffee machine corner. This standard didn't change for years. Please let us know why only plastic cups were available during your stay? Your respected holiday was in July? We hope you’ll reach out at beachclub_guest@pickalbatros.com to discuss your experience in more detail. Best wishes, Hotel management

We had a great holiday at this resort. The food is delicious, the service is great, rooms are very nice. Just two things were not good. First of all the cleaning and the hygiene. Specially the public toilets were disgusting many times. They should get cleaned more times in a day, specially around the pool and beach area in the day time. Also the tables at the restaurants were not always clean, when they were dirty nobody cleaned them for the next guests, they just expected us to sit down and to accept it. The second point is the so called entertainment. Actually you shouldnt even call them entertainment because this team dont entertain anyone except themselves. Activities are full but they dont know how to talk to people. Some days they dont talk to anyone at all and they just walk around. And the DJ should also clearly be changed, most horrible one we saw in any hotel till now.

I am writing this from the hotel where I still have 12 days remaining. When I got here it seemed ok but in the middle of know where. Within 10 minutes of being here I wanted to leave. Due to having to pay £22 a week per person for wifi. Now this might seem silly but when I paid for all inclusive I expect wifi inclusive too. I have a 1 year old boy who listens to YouTube lullaby to sleep and other english programs. The staff do not care what so ever as you have no choice. Love holidays advertise wifi too but no mention as to pay. It is a spa but u have to pay for that to around £80 a massage. The gym is no gym. The rooms are nice but only air con. No heating which again is no good for babies or small children. Always harassed by people to buy things and very expensive. Better to go out of the hotel to the town market and shop there. Always haggle. The food is ok. Standard. The drinks are watered down. Alcohol I'm not sure as we dont drink. This hotel is only good for a week not 2 weeks. Better to get a hotel close to the town where there are things to do. Shop for guides etc as here is expensive. The people here for example ask for 130£ per person to go on a luxor tour. Then on the other side of the hotel someone one offers for 100.here is all about haggle. Egypt is a cheap place but because they want to work in your money they will say pay them in your money if that makes sense. These holiday companies really mislead you. Read all the reviews. Does not matter if 1000 good reviews. Read the ones that are honest and that include everything. If your not bothered about wifi to contact back home or business and dont mind being stuck in the middle of know where this place is for you. Not for families and it is not 5 STAR HOTEL!!!

hi, unfortunately me and my girlfriend had a terrible vacation. since we arrived here we were left to our own devices, we were greeted at the hotel by a rather cold and very uncaring boy. we stayed for 20 minutes for our room to be ready and still we received a very very dirty room (I will leave some pictures below) we were assigned to another room which had the same problems again and look like this I lost 4 hours to receive an equally dirty room (I'll leave the pictures below so you can see what I found). I got toxic food infection nobody cared about us for 3 days we stayed and ate fried bread with tea. only a reliable manager from the Reception helped us, otherwise nobody cared about us. at 23:30 no more drinks are served and if you want to drink you have to pay extra for a beer 4 euros. when you want to drink a cocktail, he doesn't even know how to make one. in the morning at the small one downstairs, you have to ask them to give you coffee in a ceramic pot because they don't want to give you something like that, very cold people and if you don't give them a cup they won't smile or talk to you. at lunch when you go to eat on the beach you get food with the portion. when you ask for a pizza, they give you 2 slices because that's the order from above, so which is all inclusive. you can only eat ice cream until 4 o'clock because nothing is offered after that. for dinner, only the same kind of food, except that he puts some extra sauce. at the sea you can't even enter it because it's full of broken corals and looks pathetic, you actually can't enter the sea. actually, I don't know how this hotel works anymore. they are very lying people. they said they would send me an email but it didn't happen. I chose not to post this earlier in order not to hurt anyone because it doesn't suit my character, but the impertinence and the lies with which I was treated by a short man manager at the reception made me do this. I have some videos of you, I will put them on tiktok, facebook and instagram so that you don't lose money, like me and my girlfriend. I have some videos that I want to send, write to me at "lapusteioanbogdan@yahoo.com" and I will send you other pictures so you can see the lies they are selling. the hotel is in the middle of the desert. to get to civilization you have to spend money to get there. I am waiting for an answer from a member of the hotel. on the email address.

This must have been my best holiday ever! I travelled solo and there was not a moment I felt alone. The staff was lovely, the manager/guest relations too and I enjoyed my conversations with them and with several hotel guests too. The receptionists (amongst them are Ismael, Domedius) were very professional in their approach and assisted me with everything I needed, be it an iron, a safety pin, and other, even when they were very busy at the desk. My room was huge and from the balcony I could enjoy the view of the pools, the palm trees and the beach. The animation team start their activities at 10 am and in the evening at 9pm. Lovely team, great dancing - they know how to liven up a place. As for the tours, I bought some tours from one of the representatives that I met in the lobby - many possible tours are available (The Valley of the Kings, Luxor is a must see!). Good to know: 1. to take more bank notes (euros, dollars) so as to help the staff to change the coins they receive in tips as banks won’t change it for them, so tip in notes if you can; 2. no lactose free milk so if you really want bring your own; 3. You do not need to be scared of ice cubes in drinks as bottled water is used not tap water. 4. Bottled water is abundantly supplied - there’s bottles in your room and you can ask for as many as you need from the bar.
Environmental tips: Given the arid climate and the value of water in a desert environment I felt there should be clearer signage as to how one should minimise the use of water (ex: not to ask for your room and sheets not to be cleaned every single day).
Context: I would have liked to see more of the local context (Safaga) or learn more about it and see how my kind of tourism is benefitting the local communities. Given that the resort is like a bubble you need to do your own research if you want to go beyond the surface,
However, I will have ample time to explore this area more deeply as Egypt is not a place you visit once. Other tourists I met had been in Hurghada for five, six, ten times, and I have no doubt that this was not my last one. I look forward to visiting again and to keep fostering my relationships with the lovely people I met there.

Hello, yesterday we came back from the hotel Amwaj beach club Abu Soma, I will do a review because we were very surprised by the price-quality ratio, the hotel is clean, everything is in order, the staff are running around like bees, very nice, smiling, always asking how is your day? How are you doing? the environment is maintained, large swimming pools, the hotel is in the first row from the sea, the sand on the beach is always raked after the night, the sunbeds are all with mattresses and screens, there are beach beds, there is also a bridge where you can go down and swim and snorkel, because there are small reefs, there a lifeguard sits and takes care of the vacationers. And now about a few employees, because they really stuck in my memory with their sincerity :) the room cleanee Omar is a young, cheerful, smiling, kind, sociable guy who cleaned our room, the room always smelled good, he replenished hygiene products, the bed was laid out amazingly, origami from towels, Omar really deserves praise! :) There was also a very, very nice, very sociable, young, cheerful, energetic employee named Ibrahim who worked at the beach bar, who really made excellent cocktails, took great care of us, as far as I could see, he chat with many of the vacationers, he was very nice, and polite, you see. that he loves his work, I wish him the best of luck for his wonderful sincerity! He is a very valuable employee! 🤩 one morning after breakfast I went to the beach with a stroller, it was quite difficult to drag the stroller, seeing that the lifeguard helped me find a place, set up the sunbeds according to my wish, he was very nice, he asked again how our vacation was, how we were doing 😊 another employee if I remember correctly named Yasser carried cocktails around the beach and worked at the bar of the restaurant, he also kept an eye on us and made sure we had something to refresh ourselves, he worked very hard and well, congratulations to him😊 basically all the employees whose names are hard to remember are really friendly, kind, smiling when he just walked by and waved or talked to our little one 😊 the food is delicious, we also liked the cocktails, the beer is really good 😊 while we were lying on the beach, they offered us an excursion with the royal seasculpt ship, to which they took us from the hotel in max 10 minutes, very nice crew, very nice program , a really worthwhile excursion, especially with a small child🫶 we took massages and a hammam with a full program at the hotel spa, the people working there have really accumulated good work experience, both of us liked the massages, and the hammam program was the best 😊 we came to relax and enjoy Egypt sun and we were really satisfied, we will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and family🤩

The wi-fi is very bad. During our stay it would kick you off every 15-30 min and you'd have to log back in. My advise would be getting a loca sim (or e-sim)
I wouldn't recommend this resort if you're looking for quiet. Exactly like you described, loud music by the pool and beach. Search for adult-only resorts as they are usually a lot more relaxing.
They do! There's a mini-disco followed by a show almost every evening. Keep in mind the bar near the podium does close almost immediatly after the show.
It didn't in april.
