My wife and I returned to the UK just before Christmas after spending 4 weeks on vacation here.

As usual, the staff in all departments were brilliant. They are friendly, efficient and extremely helpful, a real credit to the hotel.

We found the food really good from all 4 restaurants and enjoyed the variety on offer.

The rooms and surroundings are kept spotlessly clean, but it was annoying to watch people dropping paper cups and various bits of litter within a matter of 3 or 4 paces from any of the many bins located around the resort.

The only negatives were
1/ The main pool closing for annual maintenance for about 10 days. I found it disappointing that we were not advised of this when we booked as we would have amended our dates. Although the other pools were open, they do not have steps into the pool, only the ladder-type which my wife and others with mobility issues are unable to use. Maybe when those pools are undergoing maintenance "Roman type" steps could be built.
2/ For some reason the Shisa bar, which opens from 6 pm to midnight, has been relocated to the side of the pool bar by the new pools. This means that there are 2 large televisions broadcasting football, boxing, music at a high volume with people being very noisy too. Seems strange to locate it right outside guestrooms especially when some of these are "family rooms".

Jane & I cannot thank the staff enough for helping to make our vacation so good, we are already looking forward to our next visit.

We came to Mercure hotel at the beginning of March. The services, food and atmosphere was very nice. There is always what to do here, even though there was a beginning of season there were a lot of activities during the day and also during the evenings. Animators were always engaging and entertaining guests to take part in all events. The one that we liked the most was beach party with live band. Overall Mercure Hotel is more small and calm than average hotels in Hurgada which make it more unique in our opinion, because you don’t have to make kilometers to and from rooms to get anywhere. The one and only thing we didn’t enjoy was very poor quality of vines served in the main restaurant but besides that food was very tasty. We recommend this palace to people who are looking for maximum relaxation and peace :)

A lovely, great value hotel.

The room was cleaned every day with fresh bottled water left, and the public spaces were always being cleaned regularly.

While I wouldn’t say it was the most luxurious all inclusive hotel I’ve ever stayed at, for the price we paid we were really happy.

The food was nice very day, with lots of fresh food available and no tummy aches through out the holiday! The selection wasn’t huge but it varied every day and I liked that there was some local food and not just pizza and chips on offer!

The pool was lovely (the main pool was under annual maintenance so out of action) and not busy, no issues getting sun beds here or at the beach.

Nice to have shops and a pharmacy within the hotel for basics and gifts etc.

Would defo go back for a great value, sun break :-)

I rarely give less than 5 stars but in this case I have no other choice. The main reason for this rating is the hotel's policy to ban any UBER, Careem, Taxi coming to pick their clients/guests up from the hotel. Alternatively the guest has either to walk a distance of around 500 meters to the main gate, or to use the ridiculously overpriced taxi service offered by the hotel.

My room was one of very few spots in this world where there is no WiFi coverage. WiFi is available only in the hotel's lobby!!

There is no "Do Not Disturb" sign in the room, which means the room service personnel can break into the room in your presence or your absence.

I am entitled to 30% discount on accommodation and some services but it seems the hotel was not aware of this discount!!

Some positive points, the room is clean, and I was upgraded to a sea view. Breakfast and dinner were both above average level.

As a Silver member of Le Club Accor, I cannot recommend this hotel much for future stays.

Hotel is around 20 minutes from city center. Nice looking reception if you ignore the juice/cola machine at the reception entry.

Check in was rapid and the receptionists were friendly. They upgraded us to a higher room category without extra charge. Ms. Fatma from reception was super nice and helpful, she is the gem of this hotel.

The beach is marvelous and sandy, and the pool looked clean and refreshing.

Staff, other than the receptionists, seemed unhappy and unwelcoming. They weren’t rude but they were not friendly like you would expect from a hospitality staff.

Room was clean, comfortable and has a nice terrace overlooking the sea and pool area, with an outstanding view.

My biggest disappointment whatsoever was the food. Ordered room service and the pasta was the weirdest pasta i ever had, chicken smelled funny, pasta itself was mushy and tasted really odd. We also had breakfast, and the food was a bit of a shock! This is not the standard for even a 3 stars hotel. Food looked unappetizing and everything screamed “low quality”. Cheese was so cheap to the point it was inedible, salami was slimy and stale, chicken sausage was rubbery and had no taste and falafel was ice cold and hard like a rock. No juice except for a powder diluted pineapple juice that tasted like medicine. The only thing I could eat in the whole buffet was bread and butter. I understand we were not at the Ritz Carlton, but the food could be a LOT better if compared to other hotels in the same category or lower.

I would have rated the hotel with a 5 stars if it wasn’t for the appalling food.

However, I will not hesitate to visit the hotel again, but I will try to book a room only and avoid any meals.

The hotel is amazing, extremely clean and well oraganized. People that clean rooms are “invisible”, people at reception are so helpfull and polite, everybody in hotel is extremely polite and friendly. The beach is amazing, with sand and great sunbeds. Entertainment crew is absolutely crazy and amazing, the night shows are fabulous as well, you can never get bored at the hotel. Near the hotel you have Senzo shopping mall and city center is just 20mins away which you can reach easily with Uber for 2 dollars in one direction which is so cheap. The only negative aspect for me was a food a little bit. I expected more fruits, like bananas and watermellons, for my stay of 10 days i had iust chance to eat it 3 days for just one meal, and i think that food in general is international but with oriental aspects, and I didnt like that almost every salad had in itself corriander! I honeslty dont like it, so i was not able to eat most of salads, but these are my personal disadvantages about my stay. Food is in general tasty with plenty of different meals, you can never stay hungry. Just I would suggest to make it more international considering the fact that almost 90% of guests are Europeans.

Our stay in Mercure was unplanned as my booking was at Rixos hurghada hotel and Rixos forced me to cancel my reservation after arriving to hotel so I moved to Mercure Hurghada hotel.
I was planning to stay for 5 days but I extended for 5 more days due to great experience I had there starting from reception front desk with Mr. Sameh who was managing my reservation without too much explanation he booked amazing room with wonderful view over pool & sea.
Our booking was all inclusive Food quality and variety was very good, breakfast is having all items I never felt I am missing any item, lunch buffet items is different than dinner items so you never feel you are bored from food. Thanks Mr.Abed
We went to A la carte restaurants (Oriental & Italian) food was amazing. Thanks Mr. Shaheen
Drinks variety was very good, only wine is with extra charge at bar with very reasonable price only 3$ for one glass.
Beach is awesome with sandy beach and deep water which you can swim in and do lot of water activities like fly board.
Special thanks to animation team who are so active either during morning time or night shows.
Housekeeping are taking care of room cleaning which always looks clean and have nice smell all over the day.
After my experience in Mercure Hurghada hotel I forgot how Rixos hotel management were arrogant and instead of having just luxury stay at Rixos with lot of money I had warm stay with team who really cares about their guests which is priceless.
Definitely it will be my favorite place whenever will be in hurghada I will always stay there

The hotel was nicely laid out with a good beach and lots of facilities. It is beginning to fade though reflected in the price.

Great: Rooms and layout, Lots of the staff, Hazem was great on reception, we had an issue and he tried hard to resolve it and was patient. The horse riding was really great and Ahmed, the main guide a real star.

Not so great, areas that could be improved or to be aware of:
1. The food is a bit average though perfectly acceptable. There is so much wastage from visitors that this must be a challenge to making it better.
2. Lots of other guests came on holiday with personal Bluetooth speakers, so whilst you might want to enjoy the beach or pool and relax you have no choice but to listen to whatever they want, it feels like this situation is only going to get worse, some had very big speakers. Think the hotel needs to take action on this.
3. The sales staff from the spa and other commercial ventures, ink tattoos etc are quite aggressive and persistent in contrast to the charm and friendliness of other staff. I think it damages the ambiance at the hotel, people want to relax not to be relentlessly sold spa services or have your small children hassled to have temporary tattoos.
4. Small point but the squash court is great and nice thing to have, though a great pity that the floor has been varnished making it very slippery and almost impossible/dangerous to play proper squash on. Can have a gentle hit with kids but nothing more.
5. The gardeners repeatedly watered the grass in kids playground, making it very wet so the kids came back from it covered in mud. Watering mud does not create grass when kids are playing in it sadly. I'd try a different solution.
6. As mentioned by others wifi only in reception, we ended up buying a sim card to use the local Vodafone network as was too painful without decent access.

Having just spent 10 days at this welcoming hotel, all we can say is we want to return. From arrival up until departure we could find no faults. Reception is helpful, the rooms were ideal, food was plentiful and varied every day, entertainment did what it said and drinks were plentiful. The staff are amazing, every on was polite and friendly, from the gardeners, housekeeping and maintenance all the way up to the general manager. The list could go on however a few really stood out, Mohammad from Karnak and Ahmed at the pool bar, Hany in the main restaurant, Mr Karim, the GM, Anoo and all of the animation team. As With regards the hotel, would we return again, 100% definitely. Congratulations to everyone there for a great memory. Room 1304 and 1303.

The hotel is very beautiful, just like the pictures. I really enjoyed that it was built like a little village with small houses in a park and not a big hotel complex. We were lucky to get a room at first floor so we didn't have to climbe the stairs daily. But if you have problem with stairs this is not the hotel for you and also if you want the reception and the restaurant just an elevator down you should look for another hotel. But we really didn't mind in fact we loved it this way, it makes it more quiet and nice.

There are 4 pools, the biggest one in front of the sea is also heated with a combined kids pool. The other 2 is not heated so in December the water was really cold there but it is up to you choose which you prefer. You don't have to bring your own towel from home, the hotel gives you a card that you check out a towel daily to use at te pool or on boat trips. There are a lot of sun beds.

The service is so good all over the resort, the staff is always on demand, friendly and want you to have a good and comfortable time.
There is 3 different restaurants and 2 bars. The main restaurant serves buffet and the food is good, different food every day and local cuisine. This is not a hotel like other tourist hotel we're you get fries every day, actually never once. But we got food poison..

There are free activities everyday, but it's the same everyday, it would be fun if there were some varieties. But at the same time you can enjoy it everyday, waterarobic, belly dance, dart, football, volleyball etc. The animation team is friendly and fun and every night there is a show with different theme like dance, games and shows with local artists. You will miss something out if you just stay seated in the lobby/bar.

The hotel also gives you options to go on other activities like horse riding, boat trips and so on. This is something you have to pay for but clearly worth it, we enjoyed everything and the staff really does everything so you can have the best experience.

Hi, yes you can buy SIM card at hotel, there's a stand behind the wall of the hotel bar. I don't remember exact price but more or less it was something about 9$ for card+3GB. And yes, there're beach towels.
