I visit the Silverball Museum each year, and this hotel is where I stay. The cons: dated, feels like you're back in the 70s, few amenities. The pros: inexpensive, great location, always available, ample parking (hotels costing 3x as much can have limited parking). If you want a hotel with a pool, restaurant, and bar, keep looking. If you want an inexpensive place with great location, this is my recommendation. (Tip: they have an ice machine in the office; they'll give you a bucket if you ask.)

We had a downstairs room and it was clean and pleasant. It is not an extremely updated but it's inexpensive, a block from the beach and has free parking included. We've stayed at the more expensive place across the street and I really don't need all the amenities includes in that place compared to this. We usually only go for one or two nights and this fills our needs. There is a small refrigerator, a microwave and coffee maker. Our bed was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was adequate for an overnight. No blow dryer and not much in way of shower items but towels were clean and soft enough. If you're looking for fancy this is not for you. If you're looking for an inexpensive place close to the beach, this is it.

I stayed here before and I have to say that is improving, the room was recently painted, clean and with clean sheets and towels. It is not luxurious but the location is great with free parking which is a plus in that area. Is they jus updated the curtains and bedspreads it will look better but we only use the room to sleep since we spent most of the time in the beach. Again is a clean affordable place in a great location and the owners are great people.

Small Motel that was built in the 1950s. It has a pool, and it opened all year. Typical NJ Shore Motel, good if your seeing a concert in the area or at the Stone Pony or Paradise.

I realize you get what you pay for and the rate here is very inexpensive. I stayed one night and all went okay. Did a return trip and booked four (4) rooms and ended up leaving about 11:00 p.m. at night on the day we checked in. It's been more than a few weeks and I had hoped to get a phone call from the owner/manager but not a peep. Rather disappointing actually. I merely went to the front desk and explained my disappointments with the rooms. There was a young girl behind the desk who advised she could possibly rectify the lack of air conditioning and tv in the rooms - I said, well I was living with that and was just going to make it through the single night I had booked the space for. However, i couldn't live with the mouse droppings on the bed sheets. I didn't demand a refund - nor did I expect this young girl to be able to convince my niece and nephew to stay over in spite of the mouse droppings. However, i would have appreciated a follow up call from the manager. Live and learn and again I realize you get what you pay for. I have pictures but will refrain from posting.

Do NOT believe the bad reviews!! I am a single woman from Northern NJ. I was looking for a place close to the beach, safe, clean and reasonable~that's exactly what I got!! I stayed 3 nights & never had to move my car from their free parking lot because everything is within walking distance. Beach and boardwalk are only 1 block away. Owners are very nice people. Room & bed where quite nice. Matttress seemed almost new & was very comfy. Decor was updated. Nice flat screen TV and Wifi. Fridge and microwave are free perks. OK, the bathroom could use some updating & the hot water heater was far from my room, but it was clean. I would definitely return :)

Oceanic has has been around a long time and the building and grounds show their age. So if new & shiny is important to you, get a room at the renovated Berkeley across the street and you can set your precious behind on the zebra skin chairs in the lobby.
If you want the best deal on the Asbury boardwalk, the Oceanic is clean, quiet and literally steps away from the boardwalk and beach.
My husband and I stayed there 4th of July weekend and the rates were still reasonable while everyone else's were inflated. When we lived in the area, we recommended it to visiting family and no one had any complaints.
Make no mistake, this is a budget hotel. But when visiting the beach, all I really need is a place to leave my car (free parking) and rest my head when the day is over. Oceanic is just the thing. I plan to come back next summer.

I had booked a room at the Oceanic for Oct 14 & 15 for a wedding. On Oct 9th I had a death in the family and not only had to cancel all my travel plans but had to make funeral arrangements at the same time. Needless to say my room at the Oceanic slipped through my list on things to do. I kept looking in my emails to see if there was anything there as I couldn't even remember the name of the hotel in all of this chaos. Ultimately I never found the booking information and forgot to pursue it further to cancel. I got a call the day of the funeral requesting a time that I was going to check in on Saturday Oct 14, 2017. I called back to explain what happened and was told the manager was not there. Normal policy requires 3 days ahead to cancel. I was told to call back at 9 am the next morning to speak with the manager. I woke up the next morning the day after the funeral at 9 am and again was busy with funeral/death stuff and forgot to call until 12:30. At that time I was told the manager waited until 9:30 and had to charge me $109 for the room. I thought I booked the room for $89 so that was a surprise. It was also a surprise when I got a call back later telling me what the manager had done in the morning. I know it was an exception to the rule but having a close family member pass away unexpectedly will throw you off. Sorry to say because of this I will never stay nor recommend anyone to stay at the hotel.

There is no way that anyone can say this place is clean! We were just looking for a clean room to sleep for the night. First of all to check in they buzz you in to get to a plexiglass window. Do to such we requested to see what the room looked like and he gladly gave us the key to room 17. Went to room and immediately opened the door and dead roach upon entering doorway, did a walk through one more dead on rug then another in bathroom. Decor as well was a horror example: frig was written all over with magic marker, small table had people's names initialed and carved on it, frig was sitting perched on top of some old nasty table, bathroom was gross and disgusting. Pool was covered with dirty nasty cover and next to it there must have been about 100 sparkle buckets filled with dead vegetable plants. Went back to give him key and told him about roaches and he replied " oh the exterminator was just here and I guess they didn't clean the room after that". Take my advice please please do not stay here in this obvious roach invested place, I mean it when I say I wouldn't let my or anyone else's dog stay here. also doors open up right into parking lot, no security what so ever. NASTY NASTY GROSS PLACE TAKE ME WORD FOR IT I SEEN IT FIRSTHAND!!!
