The Asbury Ocean Club Hotel earns rave reviews for its immaculate cleanliness and stylish, luxurious atmosphere. Guests particularly enjoy the modern amenities, including a gym and pool deck with stunning ocean views.
While its prime location near the beach and entertainment venues is a highlight for many visitors, opinions are mixed regarding value, with some feeling the high costs do not match their experience. The service is often lauded for being attentive, despite occasional slow spots, and while rooms are generally spacious and well-appointed, some issues with views and privacy have been noted.

Detailed Reviews
Our family stayed here for 2 nights during this long weekend. I chose it due to its location, a short stroll to the boardwalk, Stone Pony, Silverball arcade museum and short drive to Belmar's Whale Watching tour. This place exceeded our expectations. Definitely not "Jersey Shore". The service from check in to check out was outstanding. The Gallery (which was described as our living room extension) was perfect and we made ourselves very comfortable each day enjoying the delicious, light continental breakfast and Friday evening jazz piano entertainment. The rooms were also very clean, spacious, modern and elegantly appointed. Beds were comfortable. The large bathroom had a rainfall shower head and very good water pressure. The terrace/deck off the room was also a wonderful respite after a long day of sight seeing to relax. Our teenagers absolutely didn't want to leave. We will be back to enjoy the beautiful rooftop pool and terrace in the summer.

This hotel was great and I highly recommend it. I went with my husband for a weekend at the end of summer. We decided last minute to go somewhere driving distance from the city and luckily when we called Friday morning there was a room available for the weekend.
The service at this hotel is extremely great and was the highlight of our trip. Everyone was very helpful and nice and tried to make our stay great. Also, last minute we had to cancel the third night we booked and they were so nice about it and did not charge us for the cancellation, which we really appreciated.
The actual property is nice also. The room was a little small but nice and clean. We did have a problem with a smell coming from the bathroom sink but when we brought it to the attention of the front desk they sent someone immediately to fix it. The whole hotel is on one floor of the building, which I really loved. This included the pool, the restaurant and the rooms. For breakfast in the morning they have a buffet display that includes pastries, yogurt, fruit, cereal and more. The pool is very nice and service and drinks at the pool bar are great.
The location of the hotel right near the beach is also great. It was so easy to walk to the beach and walk on the boardwalk. There are also some restaurants right nearby. The walk to town was also very easy and took about 10-15 minutes. The hotel is also right near the concert venue the Stone Pony.
I can see why some of the reviews say they feel the hotel is overpriced, but if you don't mind the high price tag this hotel provides a fun getaway with amazing service that is easy to drive to from from NYC. I had a great weekend there and would definitely return.

+1
This was our second stay at the Asbury Ocean Club. We had previously stayed in 2019. This hotel is dreamy. Staff are so friendly and pleasant. Need to shout out Michelle, the pool server, who is so hardworking, constantly bringing ice water and seeing if anyone needs anything. She deserves recognition as she definitely goes over and beyond compared to the other staff (pool bartenders could be a little bit more attentive and less chatty with each other... had to wait awhile for them to even realize I was sitting there, waiting to order).
The front staff at check in and check out are also lovely, friendly and informative.
The pool area is so beautiful. The pool on our first day was disgustingly hot and not refreshing at all. We were sweating while sitting in the pool. But they pumped in water and the next day, the temperature was perfect.
We were very sad to see that they no longer offer the continental breakfast buffet. It was so good during our first visit and we were looking forward to it and now everything is a la carte. Bummer.
In order for it to be a truly 5 star room, they need to add three things: (1) an extra garbage can in the room (only one garbage can in the toilet room) and (2) a lighted, magnifying makeup mirror as the lighting is low. The beds are very comfortable however, they also need (3) to add a top sheet. I was never a top sheet person but I now run hot at night and the comforter was too warm. A top sheet would have helped. There is a Nespresso machine, a mini fridge, and a drawer safe. Robes and slippers are also provided.
I HATE resort fees and don't think that their resort fees justify the cost. If you're going to charge almost $42 per night, it should definitely include beach passes. Wi-Fi should be a given. Bottled water replenished daily should not cost $42. PLEASE get rid of the resort fee... it is such a turn off.
I overheard a nasty dispute between hotel guests and a resident who was angry about not being able to get a bed at the pool. I totally could sympathize with both parties. The hotel guests paid a premium to stay and had every right to claim beds, first come, first serve but I also sympathized with the resident who also paid a hefty sum to own a place at this gorgeous place and could not get a bed.
Overall, we had a great stay. I hope they take into consideration the suggestions to make this hotel truly 5 stars.

For what you’ll pay for a stay at the Asbury Ocean Club, you might expect a Five Star experience. If so, I’m sorry to say, you’ll be disappointed.
We booked a Dune Terrace King for $885 per night, and as noted in the room description ‘featuring views of our beautiful landscaped dune garden’, at a minimum, we expected a view of the dunes. Our room was in a corner and the view was of the wall. I called the front desk and spoke with Timothy to request a room change and shared my disappointment in where we were placed.
He called 20 minutes later to say they were fully committed and couldn’t make a change. Many of the other staff members were pleasant enough but Timothy seemed cold and disinterested in delivering quality service. I understood that if they were fully booked there was nothing that could have been done but I was left with the feeling that I wasn’t a valued customer.

One day we never received room freshening, and another, when we asked to have our room cleaned while we were at the pool, wasn’t taken care of until well after we returned (5 hours later).
To add insult to injury, we received a welcome email when we booked our stay and in it was a note that there was a $25 charge, per day, for valet parking. We were billed $35 per day and when we called to request a credit, were asked to provide a document quoting the $25 fee. I asked that she review the Welcome form email that goes to all guests. Oh, and the gift bag they presented to guests is a joke.
On a positive note, the lobby level and pool areas are quite beautiful.
This was our first experience in Asbury Pk and although we enjoyed some of the restaurants and bars, if this is the best Asbury Pk offers in accommodations, not sure if it’s a resort town we’ll visit again.

I found this place through Amex's Fine Hotels and Resorts which has been a trustworthy curated group of hotels for me since 2015. This hotel should not be on their list based on service. The physical hotel is very nice and decor of the room beautiful but that's where it ends. Partial view of the ocean translated into an 90% view of a large ugly parking lot. The service was consistently atrocious. From the moment we arrived we didn't get help with luggage until requested, was charged on my Amex the cost of the room for 5 night even though I prepaid (and not an apology or confirmation that it was taken care of by anyone after I complained - had to check my online Amex app to make sure) one of the employees who checked us in had no idea what time breakfast was, had no idea when the gym was available. This is basic information they should know. Housekeeping was terrible - they go around with a bag (not a cart) to just make your bed without doing any type of housekeeping unless requested. I'm not someone who needs sheets changed or new towels all the time but for goodness sake, replenish the water, to a little tidying up. One time they knew we left and the room was never cleaned by 4:30PM.

The hotel seemed to be struggling, at least this past week, in it's ability to deliver on it's "WOW' factor and at these prices I expected it. A number of amenities that I read about in prior reviews, what sold me on this property, and what i expected, are not being offered or have been scaled back with lots of "marketing" language to make it sound like its a good thing. It appears they don't have adequate staffing levels right now. Staff all work very hard and try hard to be nice but they are clearly frayed and frazzled. That being said, during the summer season, the prime location to the beach, restaurants, bars, the private pool area, and the overall vibe is probably worth checking out, if you can afford their rates. During the off season, not sure they are delivering in a way that justifies it.
Rooms vary. I found the inside Dune rooms claustrophobic unless I kept the curtains pulled but that it is very not private. I was lucky to be upgraded to a partial ocean and that was much better. Bright, sunny, soundproof, and private.
The spa was great with quality services.

First and foremost, the hotel is gorgeous. The food is delicious (especially that burger!) and the drinks are too. The outdoor pool and bar staff are accommodating and friendly (same goes for the fantastic cleaning, bellhop, and valet staff). However, this spot isn't without concerning kinks. Primarily, once inside the hotel, it's as if no global pandemic is happening. I only noticed two bottles of hand sanitizer (one at reception, one at the indoor bar area), and startlingly, most hotel staff (and adult and child patrons) were unmasked indoors. What is particularly troubling about that is even an admitted unvaccinated "engineer" came to service our room. I asked him about his vaccination status before letting him in to fix our bathroom lights (they weren't turning on, even in the pitch black WC). When he said he wasn’t vaccinated nor wearing a mask, I immediately asked my spouse to bring our child outside onto the patio to wait safely. At the same time, the engineer checked things out and, within a minute, figured the culprit was a light switch card near the door that wasn't fully in its holder. Once he left, I immediately called reception to request to speak with the manager to understand better how the hotel was ensuring the safety of their staff and guests. In speaking with the female manager, I was met with a sprinkle of empathy, lots of unclarity, and some guest-blaming. One memo got sent to staff (who knows when), and there has been no further communication or guidance given to them by management. The pool is so warm it's not refreshing at all (thankfully, the shower next to the pool is a little cooler and provides some relief from the sun). Many families with young children were there, so it's family-friendly. However, family safe is a whole another story. Hopefully, management can work out these kinks in the era we’re in because the hotel could be an excellent hotel addition to Asbury Park.

If you are trying to decide between the many hotels available in the area, look no further! One of the best hotel experiences I have had. One of the cleanest hotels with the friendliest people. Some of the staff wouldn't even accept tips when we were trying to reward great service. If you like non chain, boutique like hotels, this is one of the best! The location, view, food, decor and staff were beyond expectations. Small touches like a hand written welcome note and fresh carafe of water with mint were also nice and unexpected. Loved our stay and will definitely be back!

Pros: excellent pool staff, great location, very good on-site food & beverage for Jersey Shore, killer views, great meeting up location if you're big into partying and visiting with a large group, great fitness rooms and classes
Cons: hotel rooms are beautifully designed to distract you from how small they are for the prices being charged, glass patio doors can withstand a hurricane-grade storm but not musical concerts from the Stone Pony (which ends around 11pm) and club music (which doesn't end until 2am) so this is not the hotel for you to rest in, on-site spa is an afterthought (I found damp robes stuffed into a locker, robes were torn), the daily resort fee doesn't even include access to the beach less than 50 feet away
P.S. Avoid Room 3 like the plague unless you are traveling with folks also occupying the adjoining Room 2. The room is marketed as a suite but has no separate living room. The bed is 3 steps from the room door so you're going to hear everything in the hallway, especially when the heavy room doors slam, and the extra door at the end of the hallway gets slammed (double whammy each time!). Your bed will face the bathroom door, and your headboard will rattle whenever folks from Room 2 come in and out and noise filters through the connecting door next to your head. Its a room featuring heated bathroom floors which was incredible but they couldn't get the simple things like layout and comfort right. Bizarre.
Bizarre.

The room I had did have a mini-fridge, but that does not mean every room in a hotel does
