Medellin is not on most travelers radar unless you are a huge fan of the Narcos show and wish to visit Barrio Pablo Escobar. The area, El Poblado, where the hotel is located is beautiful and exploding with construction. We felt very safe walking the neighborhood. The hotel itself is impressive upon arrival both inside and out, but attention to detail is not there. We made reservations for 3 and only had 2 towels, asked for another but never arrived. Carpets are dirty and bathroom very dark. We paid double the dollars to stay here and while it looks like a museum in the hallways, the warmth and charm are really missing. I’ll bet the workers are only treated like a number because no one seemed happy to be working there. The breakfast had many offerings but the rice was ice cold and heaters for food not working. We are an average family but this seems like a high class hotel with zero personality. I spoke with the manager but honestly I felt like he could care less. …
Beautiful hotel .. very helpful staff .. with a great spa and restaurant. The staff members spoke English as well, which was very helpful. They are willing to arrange car services, and more, to ensure your safety and enjoyment. It's in the perfect location, walking distance to shops, restaurants, and more.
A friend recommended this hotel and we were sooooo happy. Great stay, very safe, very clean, amazing location and not expensive at all. This hotel is situated in a very touristy area. Breakfast was inlcuded, but if you prefer to eat outside, you're 2 minutes away from great food.
If you want the best position to stay in Medellin this hotel should be on your list. The taxi from the main airport now takes about 45 minutes thanks to the tunnel. El Poblado certainly suited us very well because of the large number of excellent restaurants and bars and because it is very smart and clean. In fact there were a large number of people, both local and tourists, out on the streets enjoying themselves especially in the late afternoon and early evening. Many of the restaurants were within a hundred yards or so of the hotel. It is also very easy to get to El Poblado metro station. Simply walk down Calle 10 for ten minutes or so. From there you can easily get to wherever you want in Medellin. Terminal Sur bus station is a little bit further on and the gateway to lots of places in coffee country including the wonderful Jardin. The hotel itself is very smart and comfortable and the advice from the tourist desk made navigation of the metro system much easier than I had feared. We didn't eat there apart from the breakfast (which was fine) because of the plethora of first rate hotels literally just round the corner.…
Diez is a great place to stay while in Medellin. I was most impressed by the friendly staff and the bed. I am frequent business traveler and stay in lots of hotels. The bed at the Diez was the most comfortable bed I have slept in. The staff was very helpful and eager to assist with any request. The entire staff speaks English.
