This hotel represents exceptional value for money. You have an extensive range of recreational facilities including heated pools, gym, games room and of course direct access to the beach. The hotel also has its own waterpark with slides for the kids, but this requires an entrance fee. All other facilities are included in the room rate. It should be noted that the Asia Bay Hotel-Resort is trading as 3 different hotels in the one location (with slightly different names). However, they have different reception-check-inn areas. The "Yiyuan" resort has its own reception, away from the main Asian Bay Lobby & Check-inn. (less grand!) It is significantly cheaper to stay at Yiyuan Resort, rather than the Asia Bay Hotel. However, regardless, you still have access to the same resort facilities. Please understand that while the Asian Bay Hotel has English speaking staff, this is not the case at the Yiyuan resort. They are not use to dealing with foreigners, and the check-inn process took about 30 minutes. However, even though there was a language barrier, I must say the staff had a very positive attitude and I felt a genuine sense of warmth from the reception - they seemed to be enjoying their job and were very cheerful. The room card they initially gave me, would not open the door on the 24th floor. Even a hotel cleaner cold not open the door with her card. However, I was soon reassigned a new room. There is great bathroom - separate bath and rain head shower. Room is very well appointed. However the fridge did not work and there are no English TV Channels, (but at this price point this is not expected). Great balcony with sea views, city views and a mountain outlook, but due to the design and curve of the building there is not much privacy. Unfortunately, about 800 ms away from the building is a construction site, with significant noise (vibration) from 8am to 8pm every day. So sitting on the balcony for a happy hour cocktail not that enjoyable. Still for the price paid and overall facilities you cannot complain. I am not sure if the hotel (the Yiiyuan resort) has rooms facing the the internal courtyard - you would still have a sea view but without the construction noise. The hotel also has a small convenience store for all the essentials. The hotel is about 3 kms from downtown shops. You can walk along the beach to downtown. Taxi to the airport is about 80 RMB. Note: there are no taxis waiting at the hotel - you will have to call a taxi, or of course use DIDI.

Check-in was efficient and access to the room also despite the dimensions of the hotel. The room was very big and well designed, with pleasant decoration and a veranda. The open bathroom was well equipped and spacious, hot water was instantly available. Air conditioning was efficient and wifi stable and reasonably fast. The bed was very good, and chairs, sofa and table etc. were all available. The only real disappointment was the food - the buffet is very diverse and big but food quality was medium at best, most dishes were bland and uninspiring.

I was in Hainan recently and I've always wanted to check out this resort in Boao, which is close to Qionghai. I went in December so the weather was cool, only 20 degrees or less Celsius. There is a good sized water park there and it has most the rides one would expect in a water park, e.g. lazy river, cone shaped raft ride. It has several large pools where you can just relax and swim in. There does not seem to have a wave pool where waves are generated periodically. Unfortunately the water park was closed as it was too cold. But I imagine when it gets hot there in Hainan, it's a good place to cool off and have family fun.

What's nice is the water park is located on the hotel property (between the two towers of hotel rooms) so it's walking distance from your room. The hotel also has a private beach which is clean and nice to relax on. I believe the tickets for the water park are separate from the hotel room stay so it's not included as part of the room rate.

Other things for family fun include a jumping gym for smaller children, table tennis, billiards, gym.

The hotel room was comfortable and the bedding was good to sleep on. Wireless internet access is free inside the room as each room has it's own wifi hub. There are some oddities in the room like equipment for steaming food and possibly a dishwasher. There is a bath tub but it's outside on the balcony! Where people reside across from you in the other tower could possibly see you. A bit strange but this is China.

The breakfast buffet is very good and offered a wide selection of Chinese favorites. They do have some Western food as well like bacon, fried eggs, sausages. They even have sushi but they were rolls and they had no wasabi or soy sauce.

Getting to the hotel can be a hassle. You really need to know some Mandarin or Hainanese dialect to navigate around. If you fly into Haikou, you can take a high speed train to Boao but you should make sure that the train will stop there. In non peak periods, the train doesn't stop there but at the next stop, Qionghai. From Qionghai, you could take a taxi to the hotel but it's about a 20 minute ride. Also you really need a taxi if you plan on touring around, e.g. the small town of Boao. If you can rent a car, the area is fairly easy to navigate but you need to be aware of how local Chinese drive. There are no rules there that people follow religiously except green for go and red for stop.

I would recommend this place for families looking for something different within a contained and safe environment. But go when the weather is much warmer so you can enjoy the water park, private beach and ocean.

This hotel promised so much and delivered nothing. Room dirty, WiFi not working, cold food at breakfast, and expensive, the only thing good was a young lady made me 2 cups of fresh hot coffee, that's all, better stay at the Ramada next door

Staycation for 2 days after chinese new year. Un-friendly staff, poor room services and no food provided after we paid for buffet dinner.

We reserved a room for one night from agoda. The counter staff just asked for my passport and told us no reservation record was found. Then left us to deal with the problem alone. We had to make international call to clarify with agoda hotline. The hotel staff was really unfriendly and not interest to resolve the problem. After standing infornt the counter for 2 hour and agoda was trying to contact the hotel manager to resolve our missing fax reservation. Suddenly the staff found our record and provide us a room without appology. Really dispointed at that point of time.

In the room, no room service directory provided. Hot water had to wait for 30 mins with tap water running.

The buffet restuarant at basement was really "amazing". That was our first time paid for buffet dinner with all trays and basket were emty. The porride pot from breakfast was not clean and left till dinner time.

Really terrible experience.

I have booked a villa (Bail style). There are 3 rooms (though agoda description was only 2 rooms villa), and it can fit at least 6 people. We quite like our stay here.
The rooms are clean. The bed & bedsheet are comfortable. My mom likes the blanket so much.
Sometimes, you might not get hot shower. You can just turn it on manually. The manual switch is located in the bathroom of the top floor.
The hotel facilities are mostly under maintenance. So, we didn't get to enjoy the facility. You must try their room service cause we find that their food are quite nice. however, if only 1 staff working, they will refuse to take any room service order. There isn't whole day menu, you can only order your food at specific time, say 6pm to 9pm and after 10pm. If you want to order food from 9pm to 10pm, the hotel will not accept your order. So, you just need to call again after 10pm.
Overall, we quite like our stay as the rooms are big.
Oh.. forgot to mention, their sofa cover is dirty. So, probably you can request for a clean bedsheet to cover the sofa. ok?
