Awesome spacious infinity pool as depicted in the pics. It's not crowded and they gave me a free upgrade to balcony room. 10mins walk up a gentle slope to the entrance of Luhuitou park which is currently free to enter :) However, do note there is almost nothing to eat near the hotel as it's located halfway up the peak :/ but there are some food outlets and a lawson supermarket at luhuitou entrance.

We found this hotel in Agoda and when i was trying to book the room I found out they have two different buildings which one is older and one is newer. Make sure you book the right one with the infinity pool and located on the uphill right across from the older building. I believe the name of the new one is something called Royal Garden Grand Resort (三亚半山锦江海景度假酒店(贵宾楼)).

This hotel located really close to downtown Sanya and Luhuitou Park. We rent a car ourselves and it is not that hard to figure out where you need to go.

We booked the room with garden and ocean views as well as free breakfasts for two. The hotel overall is nice (the new one) and the staff are all quite friendly :) Nice room and love the pool there!!!

First, you should be aware there are several hotels here under one name. There is the VIP section highest on the hill with higher rates and rated four stars. This location is both dramatic in views and inconvenient if you do not like to walk up a steep hill and stairs. A taxi and/or electric hotel shuttle are alternatives. This section has an infinity pool as its main visual enhancement other than the higher sea views from every room. The pool is open to all guests.

Then there is the Main Building right on Luling Lu where you check into the older three-star sections. Among the three-star facilities are the Main Building, Annex Building and separate multi-floored villa buildings. Buffet breakfasts are served in the VIP, Main and Annex buildings. Your perception of the physical facilities is going to be formed by where you are housed. Some web sites like Ctrip make it pretty clear and differentiate the VIP from the older sections.

I stayed in the older Annex building. Booked into the cheapest "garden-view" room, I asked for a sea-view upgrade, and got a partial sea-view corner room which was light, airy and had great day and night views. The sea and a real garden (not the parking lot) was out the windows. There are far worse rooms overlooking the road so ask for a quiet room like I did, based on a previous review here at TA. You do not have to walk through the Landscape Hotel, down the hillside from the Royal Garden, to get to the beach, as reported by others. There are public streets to either side of the Landscape property.

The three-star rooms are pretty basic in the tropical style with white and natural wicker furniture, ceramic tile floors, white sheer and block-out drapes, and very hard beds. (As usual I asked for and received several quilts and blankets to put under the bottom sheet to create a faux pillow-top effect. It works in most Chinese hotels, but these were really really hard beds, and I was mildly uncomfortable each night.) The room was very clean, including the bathroom. I must give them credit. I could not find any typical tropical mildew in the bath. The tile, grout and anti-slip mat were spic and span. The hotel did not provide beach or pool towels. We bought our own in downtown Sanya, cheap as you would expect.

Unfortunately, the ventilation fan system in the bath is poorly engineered as I have experienced in other Chinese hotels. I smelled other peoples' bathrooms most of the day. Practical solution: just keep the bath door shut all the time.

The internet connection was wired broadband and free, although you had to input your room number each time you signed on. The speed was fine 24/7. The bath amenities were strictly three-star, so don't expect any luxury lotions or scents. The hot water pot and tea were there, as usual, and the mini refrigerator was a nice bonus so we could have fresh fruits, snacks and cold drinks, bought down the road.

For some inexplicable reason this Jin Jiang-branded property does not provide bottled water for its guests. After staying in over two dozen different hotels throughout China, including two others in Sanya, this is the only hotel which has not provided bottled water. It can be cheaply purchased down the road for about US$1.75 for a five-liter plastic bottle with comfortable carry handle.

This property is well maintained overall. In spite of its age and location on a steep hillside, I could not see any paint peeling, structural cracks, garden neglect, or simple forgetfulness. The smaller (and warmer) swimming pool below the Main Building was perfectly maintained.

The best part of this stay is that you are getting a clean and well maintained facility at a value price. There are cheaper places, but I doubt you could get two pools, luscious views of beaches during the day and fireworks/laser light shows at night, and an in-town location so you have your choice of dozens of reasonably priced restaurants every night.

The front desk staff was either intimidated by an English-speaking guest or simply not up to reception standards at other Chinese (including Jin Jiang) properties where you feel welcomed. The front desk was cold, both during check-in and the inefficient check-out. As advised by another review, I allowed extra time for check-out, 30 minutes all told, and I needed it. The staff did not seem to know how to scan my common (but western) credit card. The third person, specially called, finally called the credit card system vendor for technical assistance and was able to get the job done. Two previous clerks completely wasted my time, implying more or less my card was not going to be accepted.

The "western" breakfast buffet in the Annex, included in the hotel price, was mostly Chinese, but quite adequate. The "Chinese" breakfast served in the Main Building was so Asian I could not find coffee, milk, or any cereals other than congee.

No doubt I would stay here again for the price-value received. The older hotel had some charm, and the grounds were neat gardens, perhaps not beautiful but still very pleasant. I am told the hotel's Chinese name translates into just that, "nice garden resort." The English translators took the liberty to change the name to "Royal" gardens.

If you want to stay a week in China's best ocean resort area then the Royal Garden will be an inexpensive and generally quality stay.

Location was very nice, view over the Dadong bay and rooms were clean -everyday service.

Nice breakfasts chinese or western. We like western style was better..

Hotel had it´s own restourant and we were clad that menu was wrote in in english also. Waiters and waitresses were helpful and sunny.

But hotel reception was unprofessional. Checking out took over an hour and we missed our flight Guangzhou..

We took plenty of time to do this and we give every receits (minibar, laundry, internet days) to the reception early in the morning, but while we were on breakfast they seems not to notice that and five receptionist tried to check us out.. They could have check our bill out while, but :(
Maybe they learn, it take time but hopefully..

If you have small kids with you, i don´t recommend Sanya to you because beaches are dirty (full of strash, no toilets etc, people piss on the beaches).
Chinese can´t save their beautiful paradise if they don´t change their bad habits!!

We live in China, so we are used to Chinese stuff but this hotel was a very big disappointment. Really not a good deal. Not clean, the building is old, shuttle not available for some reason, nothing special. Does not feel like a vacation at all.

Stayed for a very long break.
Plusses... Big rooms, polite and efficient service, with extra attempts made to understand English, location is in a nice area, a short walk from decent bars and cafes and restaurants, sea view
Minuses... Breakfast extremely limited for Western tastes, inability to get taxi service

Stay somewhere else. I travel extensively and have never encountered such rudeness. When the staff are not on their cell phones or chatting among themselves, they act as if you are a bother and go out of their way to avoid providing assistance. For me the last straw was when I asked the woman sitting behind the "cashier" sign to change some money for me. She shook her head and waved me away saying "no, no." I then went farther down the counter and asked a different woman who took my 50 dollar bill, walked it down to the "cashier," and handed it to her. Needless to say the cashier drew out the process as long as possible, taking calls and chatting with people while I waited. I honestly can't recall when I've been treated THAT rudely!

We stayed in the 3 star section of this hotel, despite being told it was a 4 star hotel when booking it. The reason why we will not return to this hotel again is the poor service - the staff appear disinterested and lazy, and at times were downright rude. Never recieved a smile from the staff for the 4 days we were there. We were happy with the location, an easy walk to Dadonghai beach. The room was clean and spacious with a wonderful view of the sea. The bathroom needs updating - the shower curtain is very old and discoloured. The beds are rock-hard, and there were noisy hotel patrons drinking and shouting till 4.30am in their rooms. The internet costs 30 yuan per day and is of reasonable speed. Overall we will not return to this hotel and would not recommend our friends stay there.

This hotel is centrally located. The cost of a taxi from the airport should be no more than 100 RMB (approx £10). There are two sites to this property, the main site - standard accommodation and the VIP site which has the infinity pool, gym and all day dining restaurant. We stayed in the standard accommodation which was clean and had all basic facilities including complimentary umbrella and map for use whilst in resort, slippers, dressing gown. Each day the room is cleaned and replenished with clean towels, and toiletries. A deposit is required upon check in to cover any incidentals - do not take the paper map when you leave otherwise you will have to pay for it!! English is spoken by one or two members of staff only. Try to get a package that includes breakfast otherwise the cost is approx £7 per day per person, quite extortionate considering the selection available. There is a choice of Chinese or continental breakfast. A good service is provided by the complimentary electric buggy that takes you down to the beach, this runs most of the day at 20 minute intervals. Despite the limited information regarding fitness facilities, it does have a gym but no free weights. This property is NOT located on the beach. Most of the local restaurants have the menu written in Chinese or Russian, and the prices are not cheap compared to the rest of the country. This island is a tourist destination with little or no cultural sites to see.

If you are looking for a hotel with a wonderful view, look no further. This place had, by far, the best sea view of any place I have ever stayed. Plus, its a pretty easy walk to the beach. Room to beach in less than 10 minutes.
That being said, there are some areas for improvement. The rooms very spacious and clean, but the bathrooms were a bit old looking and didn't feel clean. You probably want to wear flip-flops in there. The hotel staff was somewhat friendly, but not overly helpful. They were not honest with us about the price of a taxi into the local town. (Should only cost 5RMB, and they told us 10 / A taxi to Yalong Bay should cost 30 RMB and they told us 50)
The one area they really need to improve is in their restaurant. Our room rate included breakfast and lunch. We opted for Western fare each day which might have been a big mistake in China. I am not a picky eater, but I have to say that the food was awful. To top it off, the warm juice they served tasted more like thick sugar water than anything else. Get the pineapple juice, lemon juice, or orange juice... it doesn't matter, they all taste the same!!!
I forgive all this because actually, the downtown is only a 10-15 minute walk, and there are lots of great food choices there. Check out the Summer Town mall for their excellent food court. It opens after 5pm. The food there was great and the beer was even better. 4 choices of different flavored Tsingtoa beer for 5RMB a mug!
I should also mention that you have to walk through another hotel to get to the beach. It is the Landscape Beach Hotel. I noticed on some websites it is listed as nearly the same price as the Royal Garden Resort. We think we might stay there next time. I am not sure about the rooms, but the hotel lobby, swimming pool, restaurant, and overall impression of the hotel seems much much much higher class than the Royal Garden Resort. Plus, its actually on the beach.
One more note, if you are debating whether to stay in Yalong or Da Dong, go for Da Dong beach. The beach is slightly less pretty than Yalong, BUT the big advantage is the nearby downtown area for more food selection. If you stay in Yalong, all the beaches are private, and your only food choices are in the hotels. The hotel we visted in Yalong wanted 70RMB for two scoops of icecream. By comparison, in Da Dong, my girlfriend and I ate till we were full, I had 4 mugs of beer, she had a beer and a couple of cokes... and our TOTAL bill was around 40RMB!
