The resorts consists of many buildings, each building is a hotel. Equipped with water park, cinema, book store, outlets and many restaurants. Rooms are clean and big, while the facility looks very old. the lobby is very hot without air conditioner.

The hotel is new, rooms are big, clean, bathroom is big, has sofa, desk, free wifi. The hotel, has three main building, has pool, lots of restaurant, lobby is big, several shops, and minimart. Location is a bit far from city and beach, but they provide shuttle thrice a day to sanya beach. Overall, it is very nice hotel to stay for relaxing either with friends, family or for couple. Some stuffs that are bothering, most of the hotel staffs, they only can speak mandarin, guests are smoking elsewhere in public area and the worst is inside the lift. Breakfast is very hectic, long queue, over crowed. Needs to wait at least 10 minute to find seat, foods are ok with lots of variety. Tips: advised to used hotel rental car although is expensive for those that can not speak mandarin. No outside taxi since they only can speak mandarin and some taxi they even do not want to use meters.

This spacious, well-designed hotel complex has a lot going for it but suffers from lack of attention to detail. The Amazon theme park seems incongruous, situated in the city and in China, and does not resemble the Amazon. However, the facilities, including many restaurants, were generally quite good. Breakfast in the King Palm restaurant provided a good variety of foods but many items rapidly ran out and it became crowded after about 8:15 am so arrival at opening time (7 am) is advisable. The conference rooms we used were quite close to a restaurant with music playing, which was intrusive. Problems such as lack of toilet paper, a broken light switch and a loose seat in the toilets, and inability to provide several items on the menus in one of the bars created a bad impression. However, staff were always polite and keen to help.

Not a fan of this resort. We spent Chinese New Year 2012 at this property, and regretted it the whole time. The food was very very mediocre, the room was grimy & dilapidated, and the service was rude. The area of beach where the resort is located was nice and the hotel grounds were well-maintained so we spent most of our time outdoors. Traveling at the time of a Mainland extended holiday meant the place was very noisy and crowded, so not much of a relaxing holiday. Will travel to Sanya again, but won't stay here.

It is a huge complex, in height and width, many wings with their own name and reception and 25-30 floors each. It is a combination of exhibition center and swimmingpool -resort, which i find a difficult combination. it is nowhere close to a beach. Difficult to say which wing is best, it depends on your needs.
I was far away from breakfast area which is really huge in size and also common for all wings. This makes breakfast area really crowdy, noisy and dirty (floor gets easily lots of waste from kids and non caring families).
I would prefer to stay close to the breakfast area, you can be lost otherwise. It is not a type of resort you use to know.
Room was clean and spacy but nothing special (it looked ready to host extra beds for kids) with a small fridge (2 bottles of water), no mini bar.
Disappointing with no restaurants that are open for such a large property. Need to take taxi for outside dining and other activities, going to beach included!
Staff, except for reception and hotel manager, is difficult to communicate in english.
I got great help from hotel manager who solved many problems for me.

The resort has a lovely hotel with comfortable rooms with nice ocean views. The breakfast buffet served is BIG with a huge choice of foods and drinks to choose from. Try to get there early or not during peak breakfast time, otherwise you'll be queuing for a while. The resort has nice swimming pools and garden areas and the beach strip is beautiful.

Some friends and I stayed here whilst visiting China. The important thing to understand about the Mango Tree is that it is more than a hotel, it is a resort in the city.

The hotel has blocks of accommodation encompassing a water park. Below the hotel accommodation is a massive shopping mall that stretches all the way around the venue.

The rooms are excellent and well decorated and maintained. We were in one of the towers next to reception, so it was n’t far to walk. You often see the staff zipping back and forth on ‘segways’ because of the shear size of the hotel.

There are numerous restaurants at the Mango Tree catering to all tastes.

To help with your stay here are a few ideas.

At reception very few (I didn’t meet any) staff speak English. However this was not an issue as they all have smart phones which they use to translate their voice for you. If you are visiting China it’s worth having a smart phone for translating (Siri accomplished this well). There are apps the can also scan the menu or pictures to help translate.

There was wifi available through out the hotel. The sockets in the hotel rooms accept ordinary UK 13amp plugs as well as other types.

If you are coming to Sanya, consider bringing cash (converted at your home airport) as there was only one ATM accepting European debt cards at the hotel (that I could find) and that ran out of cash on day two of our stay.

You can walk from the hotel into town, or have them call you a cab (they are a reasonably cheap way to get around). Your keycard folder has the hotel address on, so show that to the taxi driver to get back.

Breakfast is a vast array of food served buffet style. There are all varieties of food on offer, with chefs cooking dishes to order. You will have to hunt out or ask for a knife, as only spoons and forks are set for breakfast.

The rooms have safes in them and all the rooms I sawed balconies with a view of Sanya.

The Mango Grove is very suitable as a base whilst in Sanya.

After a nice day in the water park which is good vale and worth a visit we decided to eat at the thai resturant, well what a mistake, the food was very poor some cold and lacked any Thai flavour. Service was terriable , the pinapple rice arrived 30 mins after we finished the meal !
Do not go there unless you want to be disappointed!

Our family of 4 adults and 2 children under 4 stayed in 2 rooms in the Queen Palm tower for 5 nights. The rooms were very large modern and clean. The main room had a huge bed, + there was an alcove for luggage and hanging clothes and one for the fridge + kettle.
The resort site is huge with everything you need on site;many restaurants, a supermarket and fruit shop at reasonable prices. Outside pools and walkways are on 2 levels as is the shopping arcade. It took us days to get to know our way around.
Amazon Water Park has pros and cons. There was no control of entry, which was good because our kids could enjoy the sandy "beach", shallow water pool, kids activity pool and several interesting 1.2m deep pools. For adventurous teenagers it might be worth paying for the wrist band needed for the 3 main attractions but these are not suitable for small children (and over 60s are also banned).
Breakfasts were very good with a tremendous selection, mainly for Chinese tastes but with tea, coffee, juices, bacon, sausages, fresh cooked eggs and lots of pastries and cold meats to suit us Europeans. As you'd expect of such a large place, the huge breakfast room was very busy and noisy but it all worked well.
To appreciate Hainan you must go to the beach. The MT has another site with private beach on Yalong Bay which is about 45min drive away. The sand is perfect for kids play (eg sandcastles). The sea may be too rough to swim but if not, the water is clear. Also, this site has free loungers and shades, excellent pools and play areas. Rather than use the free hotel bus, which runs twice a day, we phone-hired people carriers for less than 200rmb each way.
As our 5night package cost little more than the flights alone would have cost (from Dalian), I consider that the package was very good value.
We'd certainly go here again if we found a suitable package deal.

In Sanya Bay i only spent 4 hours as I was transferred there for overnight sleep (my reservation to Mangrove Tree in Yalong Bay was not found by the staff). I am sorry, i was not even close to the waterpark in Sanya Bay, i advise you to check with the hotel before travelling. Once agai, i apologise my experience was mostly about staff and hotel in Yalong Bay!
