Stayed there for one night and overall it was not too bad. Although I can see the hotel is quite old, the facility is actually relatively well maintained. Also their Gym was quite a surprise to me. Location is very good as well.

The first thing that hit me when I got to the room was the strong mold smell this is common in hotels in the hot tropical areas like Haikou and guangzhou but when I saw the bathroom and shower with the big mold stains I understood this was a different story completely.
At check it they tried to charge me more for the room but after I showed them the agent website with the price they reduced it.
The room was old tired and worn out the carpet filthy the bathroom and shower moldy and smelly. and this hotel is way overpriced they charge like the shangri la but are not more then a three star hotel. You can get a four star hotel for half the price.

I stayed in this hotel because Cathay Dragon diverted our flight to Hainan for operational reasons. The hotel itself is fine. Large, well equipped rooms, good wifi and decent facilities. But the stand-out feature of the hotel was Zoey on the front desk. When I checked out (in a hurry because Cathay Dragon were rushing us to catch a bus so we could make the most of a further 4 hours waiting at the airport) I left my iPad in the room. The next day I contacted the hotel and eventually I was put through to Zoey. Zoey is a star! Not only did she confirm that they had my iPad, she also remembered me because she had helped me find an ATM and a local shop. Zoey arranged to have my iPad posted to Hong Kong. Throughout my dealings with Zoey she exuded confidence and helpfulness, and the quality of her English communication was excellent. The hotel is lucky to have such an exceptional staff member working for them. Thank you Zoey!!

My partner and I stayed here for one night after completing a tour of Hainan Island. It is part of the Singapore based Meritus hotel chain, and proved to be pretty close to Singapore quality overall. It's a large and modern hotel located just off a busy street and not too far from central Haikou or the airport.

Check-in was fast, friendly and professional. Unlike other hotels we stayed in, we had no difficulty communicating with hotel staff who all spoke English. The only negative run-in we had with hotel staff involved a trainee waitress in the lobby lounge who refused to honor the advertised happy hour prices, and informed us there was a fairly high minimum charge if we wanted to have a drink in the lounge. We chose to go elsewhere rather than argue.

The rooms, although a bit dated, are large and very comfortable with all the expected amenities of a big city hotel. The beds were very great (no rock hard Chinese mattress here). Eventhough our rooms faced a busy street, noise was not an issue at all.

The breakfast buffet was very good, with a large selection of western and Chinese dishes. One word of warning - the coffee was undrinkable, so we opted for tea instead. We didn't have any other meals in the hotel, but the menus looked promising. They were featuring Portuguese specialties in one of the restaurants, and I regret missing out on that.

The hotel in general was grand and very well maintained. The one area of dissapointment was pool facilities. The outdoor pool was under the hot sun right next to the busy street. It was very unpleasant. The indoor pool was small, cold and dark. Don't stay here if pools are important to you. The gym looked pretty good.

There wasn't very much within walking distance of the hotel, so we had to use a driver to go out for a meal, see the city, and do a bit of shopping. We found Haikou to be a clean and green city compared to many other cities in China.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during my golf trip to Haikou and found the stay pleasant. This hotel would easily make the international 4-star rating but not 5-star. The room is nice and comfortable but the carpet and couch have stains. The coffee pot is plugged inside the cabinet under the TV so if you want to boil water for coffee or team, the inside of the cabinet gets wet from the exhausting steam. But the best thing about this hotel is it's a business hotel not frequented by Chinese tour groups, hence no crowds especially during breakfast. Here, one can leisurely select the variety of breakfast items from coffee brewed from an espresso machine to true bread stations for bread toast, croissants, or pastries to salad bar. There's such a variety of food items, if you select a piece
from each dish you would be filled. Overall, this is a nice comfortable hotel without the combative Chinese tourist crowd but does not reach international 5- 5-star standards...

Good location near the city center where u can get almost everything within walking distance. Looks and feel a little old but the great service attitude of the staff makes the stay worth it. Excellent chicken rice at the café and good ambience at the lobby bar. Would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Haikou as the service is 5 star, the location is ideal and it's quite worth your buck.

It is prime swimming season and there was a storm last week. The Engineers can't figure out how to adjust the chemicals and clean the pool properly. When they do scrub it down, they miss a bunch of spots around the lights and stairs. Clearly a poor effort. I swam in the indoor pool today and the water is so murky that when underwater you cannot see the wall from 12 metres away.
Please teach your engineers how to maintain a pool.

I stayed a Club room so my expectation is if a much higher level. There was a rusty cloth hanger inside the cupboard. They do not serve alcoholic drinks and dinger food throughout the day in the Club Lounge. Now the plus points. Though the equipment in the gym is limited, they are of a good quality. In addition to an outdoor swimming pool, there is an indoor pool, albeit smaller. I ate at the Chatter Box for my breakfast, not the best offered by other 5 Star hotel but I have no complaints.

Its a good hotel considering the money that you pay. Room is clean but small. Not sure if its the same room you get when you make the booking. Air-con is too cold. I adjusted it to 30 degrees and still found it cold. May be the adjustments don't work.
As stated elsewhere, its not very close to the airport... takes almost 40 mins drive from hotel to the airport, so plan ahead. Was baffled to see one lane to the lobby area was blocked by private cars. NO SECURITY... they should not allow such things because the other lane was blocked by a coach. We had to push our luggage from the road.
The concierge staff were excellent with good command over English and smile. LOVED THEM.
Have just two feedbacks to provide. Its the time they change all the towels. Requested for additional two towels and to my surprise 3/4 towels in the room were torn in the corners. Floor-mat in the bath also in same condition. Secondly, the hotel needs to add some life to the lobby area. appears very dull esp during festive time. Add in some live music and some fun stuffs.
Overall good value for money.

Since last visit a year ago, and not reviewed then, Wifi had been added, and works well considering its China, changes in the kitchen are also well noted, service in the hotel as usual is smile and resolve.. attitude..... Though in China, here English is improving, rendering the stay of non Chinese speakers like myself just that bit more easier. Rooms are clean and housekeeping is up to scratch. Price quality ratio well balanced. Management are visible, and do make sure all is ticking right. Total satisfaction.
no smoking in the hotel is thankfully enforced...
