We stayed here for three nights after coming from Cusco, via Arequipa and making the Peru / Chile border crossing from Tacna. So after more than 20 hours of bus travelling we were pretty shattered and wanted to splurge on something nice. We are very glad we picked Hotel Aruma as it was a perfect hotel with which to recharge and relax.
Pros: the hotel is almost brand new and was built in April 2013. The workmanship in the room and throughout the hotel is impressive and unlike many other hotels we had stayed in previously the owners of this hotel had shelled out for some really decent fixtures and fittings. The reception staff were really friendly and spoke good English, the wifi worked well and was fast and the breakfast was of really high quality and large portions. We also got a free drink on arrival which was a bonus and it was nice to sit outside on the balcony and watch the street scenes below.
The room was fantastic, a large and very comfortable king sized bed and great linen, although the super sized duvet was a little hot for our liking. The room was tastefully furnished with plenty of storage space. It also had a lovely garden view and was very quiet. The tv had many cable channels to choose from. The bathroom was immaculately presented with lots of hooks and rails and places to put toiletries. Best of all was the shower with plenty of hot water and the best shower pressure we had encountered in our South American travels.
The hotel also had a small pool and business centre, although we didn't use these facilities. All staff were very friendly although only the reception staff spoke english.
Cons: such luxury didn't come cheap, but at $US 110 a night we though it was definitely worth the spurge. Also housekeeping walked in on us without knocking one morning, but this was an accident and she was profusely apologetic. Other than that we found it impossible to fault this hotel.
There are probably cheaper hotels in Arica but I doubt there are too many as good as this one. Value for money score 10/10 and we would definitely stay again (PS the Pisco sours are super yummy !)
To sum up my experience it was delighted and I felt like home, not many hotel have recepcionist
who can fluently speak english.
The hotel is known for it cleanliness and good design, I recommend it
The hotel is modern, well appointed, they have taken care of all details. It is comfortable, eco-friendly, relaxing and with a great view of the city highlight (el Morro) from the breakfast room, which doubles as the bar to enjoy the welcome drink in the evening.
Wifi works great. Location is perfect.
I would recommend and return to this place.
"Rooms facing the street are noisy. We stayed in a very quite room with a small garden"Read full review
