I spend a 4 days weekend there and it was the break I needed during this COVID time restrictions. The perfect place for a short or long stay, the rooms are net clean, staff is carrying and the food is just amazing. Large bedrooms nicely decorated, various living rooms that can accommodate different styles and group, the view is really nice.

I have spent 5 days in Douala were i was travelling for business. While searching on the internet for a proper place to stay i was disappointed due to the fact that there are simply no alternatives.
I took La Villa des Fees as a compromise but......it was by far the best place i could stay.
The location is breath taking, the staff extremely friendly and the owner made me feel like i am home. They have only 5 rooms (huge ones) one of which is new (and excellent, really 5*). By now they should have finished the 6th room too. Definitely ask for the new rooms. I was worried that i will face problems driving around Douala due to the location of it but it proved to be no problem at all. Just 10 min drive from down-town. Finally, i strongly recommend the restaurant, the chef of which is amazing.
Do not hesitate...just book it.

This B&B is a real find in Douala...probably the nicest and cleanest rooms of any hotel in the area (there are only four rooms in the hotel--all first class).

Owner is a Cameroonian interior decorator who spends about half the year in Paris--it shows: the rooms are subtle African batik motifs (subdued blues, grays) with modern striped chintz pillows and cushions. This would be a five-star location in Paris!

Breakfast is served on a European-style coverd villa balcony overlooking a very lazy bend of the Wouri River (with the occasional pirogue canoe floating by!)

Restaurant is excellent--the fish is local, fresh, and tasty. The beef brouchettes are made from a filet cut and the most tender I've ever had (and I'm from Texas).

This is an ideal hotel for tourists who need a base for day trips around the Douala area and can adjust their schedules to avoid traffic. Also, a great romantic getaway.

Staff is extremely friendly, bi-lingual, and knowledgeable about European/American tastes.

Downsides:

Location. Hotel is north of the Boniberi bridge roundabout in Deido, which means that morning and evening traffic jams near the bridge will require business travellers to plan well ahead for meetings in Downtown Douala. On the other hand, it is an excellent venue for small meetings--hold them there. Also, if one can travel to/from the hotel after 9am and before 4:30pm or after 8pm in the evenings, then traffic is much less of a problem.

Expensive. Hotel is on the pricey side--but when you see the gorgeous rooms and balcony, you will understand why. Good news: the restaurant has first class food, but moderate prices--so there is a good trade off if one eats at the hotel restaurant.

On weekends there is an African-style piano bar (newly opened) with a very nice bar.

As soon as you enter La Villa des Fees you become engulfed by the calmness, beauty, decor of the place and its surroundings. It is like an oasis overlooking the river away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You won't believe this is Douala! It is quite pricey but the interior, the rooms, the cleanliness, decor detail - everything is up to high standards! We will go again....

This very charming residence is located at a quiet location about 3 km from the city center. A colonial building at the end of a street with fine views over the river. Large and convenient rooms, all connected with a huge veranda. A small but very refreshing swimming pool. Unfortunately no space for chairs for sunbathing. Breakfast is plain, but with fresh bread (baguette). I took dinner twice and it was truly delicious both times. Very good kitchen! Finally, the owners are very kind and helpfull. I definitely recommend this residence!

My boyfriend and I lived in Douala and tried to come here as often as possible for lunch, dinner or drinks to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Once you walk through the beautiful entrance you feel like you have gone away on holiday - plus the owners are such lovely and gracious hosts so you never want to leave! Every meal we ate here was delicious and the view on the Wouri river is unbeatable! We got a tour of the rooms and absolutely love the decor so would definitely recommend staying here - there is no doubt you will have an amazingly relaxing experience and there is no other place like this in Douala!

Very nice facility now in the process of upgrading the physical plant. Far superior to any other alternatives in Douala. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Comfortable beds, large bathrooms, lots of hot water, western toilets and very clean overall. Service is exceptional with well trained, friendly staff. Marc, the manager has a good command of English, but his native language is French. He provided exceptional service to us and our family on four separate visits. He will help you with anything. While it has a nice view of the river the drive to it is typical urban Africa, makes you wonder if you made the right choice. Be assured you did.

Restaurant is also very good. Nice selection, good food and great service. Wine selection ok. Breakfast, while not included is also very nice.

Highly recommend and we travel a lot.

I'm not very often surprise but for ''La villa des fees'' yes I was. More than when you arrived you are not sure about your way...then you open the door and you understand that you are in such place which you never seen before.
Big thanks to the bosses and Marc for their kindness and good wine testers....
All my best for this fabulous place to be.
