The Hotel Riu Dubai offers a lively atmosphere that many guests enjoy, though some feel the entertainment can become monotonous and the noise level high due to nearby planes and construction. Nonetheless, the hotel is commended for its value and the staff's excellent service. While opinions on its location are divided, the hotel's cleanliness and amenities, including the variety of food options and pristine pools, are frequently lauded. Rooms are generally appreciated for their space and tidiness, despite occasional noise complaints.

My wife and I have recently returned from a 5 night stay at this hotel. This was not our original hotel which we found out only days before travelling was undergoing a major maintenance program. So with very little time to consider the alternatives, we hastily chose the Riu Dubai and so please we did!

Firstly, the facts. This hotel is gimormous - 760 rooms with a capacity to accommodate 2400 guests, so it's very big in comparison with other hotels we have stayed at in Dubai. It's also very much a family hotel so there are lots (and I mean lots!) of kids there. For us that was not a problem, but if you're not kids running everywhere, this hotel may not be the right choice for you.

The rooms. We reserved a sea view room and were allocated one of the 7th floor which was big, quiet and had amazing views of the pools below and the beach/sea beyond. Very comfy beds, a great walk-in shower, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and excellent daily housekeeping. The fridge has soft drinks which are replenished every other day.

Food. Breakfast and lunch are served in the main dining hall which was without question the largest dining room I have ever been in. I would imagine that it's capacity was anywhere between 500 and 700 guests at any one time so as you can imagine, it's far from an 'intimate' setting and can be very noisy at times. That said, although this is a buffet restaurant, the choice and quality of food was an absolute credit to the hotel and I would defy anyone not to be bale to find something to suit. Lunch and dinner saw an amazing display of food from many continents including India, Asia, Italian, Arabic and not forgetting a carvery at both lunch and dinner. The food was hot and constantly being replenished so you were never waiting long when a particular dish ran out.

There are three other speciality restaurants which need to be booked in advance. They are the Asian, Lebanese and Italian. Each are open for two consecutive nights during the week and all are closed on Sunday. There is a small team of staff who work the same restaurants each night. The settings for these is in keeping with the particular restaurant theme but much smaller than the main restaurant. Although they are again buffet style, the quality of the food being served is of a very high standard and would be on par with food you would expect to be served in an al a carte restaurant. At table service for drinks is exemplary simply due to the fact that the staff have more time to interact with their clients than in the main restaurant.

Bars. There are numerous bars both inside and outside the hotel complex. The standard of drinks are very good with branded spirits, a good quality house wine and great cocktails tailored to your particular requirement (stronger or weaker).

Pools. Three outdoor pools, two with adult only swim-up bars and a children's waterpark. Plenty of sunbeds both around the pools and on the beach. No snacks or food available at these venues.

Entertainment. The hotel provides the best in-house entertainment I have ever seen. The Riu team put on daily shows from an Abba tribute night to the White Party. My wife and I are not really into evening hotel entertainment, but these shows were of such a high standard that we were drawn back night after night to both watch and participate. Absolutely superb!

What makes this hotel so very special though is the staff. They work tirelessly and under extreme pressure, yet always find time for a smile and a chat when time allows. I know they will receive some form of recognition if their names appear in my review, so please forgive me as the next paragraph is dedicated solely to those people who went the extra mile to deliver first class service to us throughout our stay.

Reception. Thanks to Hend, Trisha, Ahmed and Kurbon for all of their help. Main Restaurant. Thanks to the meet and greet team of Lauren and Joan. Our amazing servers Rose, Bibi, Muhsin, Rama, Subin Rai, Eliene, Adriel, Laven and of course the lovely Annaelle! Speciality Restaurants. Ranjith with his great team of Widi and Khun. To the cleaning team including Harikhatr and Violet and finally to Becki and her incredible entertainment crew. You were all terrific and thank you again.

So in conclusion, this is an excellent hotel considering it's size. It is immaculately clean throughout with great facilities, good food, drinks and entertainment all provided by a hard working team of dedicated staff for whom I cannot praise highly enough. Will we be returning? Very likely but at a quieter time of year maybe, when there are not so many families. Would I recommend this hotel? Undoubtably, it's delivers incredibly value for money considering it's location, that being in Dubai.

I have spent the last 10 days at Riu hotel. We didn’t know what to expect as the hotel was brand new and didn’t have any review at the time. We knew about the location (further out from main attraction, for example 25min from Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa) and decided it was worth it as all inclusive and with private beach without the high price as opposed to hotels at the Palm or JBR.
Premises: on the upside it is brand new, nicely decorated in modern style. Good communal areas, plenty of space.
As said before there are 3 pools but only one is heated and the other ones are too cold to swim in for now. Unfortunately the only heated one is close to the construction site so rather unpleasant. There is also a kids pool beside the kids club and water park. For the water park with slides you have to be at least 1.2m which is a shame for younger kids (only the white ans blue one looks for adults only) and next to it there a space with water for younger kids but again the water is too cold.
rooms: are ok, but will not age well. Not a great choice to have tiles as it amplifies noises from other rooms. Sliding doors on wardrobe will break in no time. I liked the big window between the room and bathroom with roller blind for privacy. Balcony is nice too. But please proper blackout curtains would be much better especially with so many families as guests!
food: overall good but sometimes hit and miss. food in the small restaurants is better than in the main buffet. As a note for improvement offering more vegetable options would be great. I don’t mean crudité but cooked vegetables; some days there were only one choice and it was in a jelly like sauce (similar to cheap chinese takeaway). The food offering changed from when to arrive to when we left. Overall there was more choice by the end
Hours should be extended or there should be a place for light snacks/ice cream outdoor outside meal hours.
Cleanliness: room cleaning was a bit chaotic; first few days we had our room cleaned super late and after requesting. They always forget to replace the towels they take. in communal areas it was great at first but as the hotel filled up wasn’t as good; they didn’t clean as frequently although it was needed. So increasing cleaning would be great (sometimes there wasn’t any soap or toilet roll in some of the toilets) .
staff: that was a highlight for me; overall they were trying really hard to satisfy customers. Special thanks to managers David and Philippe and the restaurants, Junior and Gustave in towel hut who are super helpful and cared for my toddler girl when she had a jellyfish sting (super rare occurrence); and all the entertainment team, they were great and really gave a soul to the place .
Conclusion: don’t expect 5star quality but if you are looking for a place to relax with a beach, pool and a bit of entertainment with meals taken care of, it is a lovely compromise. Thanks to all the team despite a few hiccups! 😊

So we arrive here 13th December not really knowing what to expect as there was no reviews as the hotel only opened days before.
We booked 18 nights as booked Dubai by default as so much of the world was not opened.
First impressions the hotel was new very "Riu" so really could of been anywhere in the world, however very clean, nice room and staff very friendly and helpful albeit still learning the ropes.
When we arrived it was very quiet but as we got nearer to Christmas it started to get busy.
It's not a 5* Dubai hotel on the palm but you aren't paying 5* Palm prices so don't expect luxury.
Restaurants all buffet which doesn't suit every one but you have more choice, personally I prefer the a la carte so you get served and sit down together. The Italian and Asian are really nice, much smaller quieter restaurants however they do get booked up.
Dubai in covid times shows how it should be done, puts UK to shame.
You need to wear a mask in public inside and out at all times or get a massive fine, hand sanitiser everywhere in restaurants, lifts, taxis, temperature taken before entering and restaurant, bar and automatic temperature sensor in all shopping malls.

My only moans are far from City centre definitely not 12k, taxis can be expensive if you go out often (which you would as nothing near hotel just beach)
Drink service in the bar or terrace would be nice rather than queue at the bar.
They have a lovely lobby area with comfy sofas, seats but for some reason don't allow you to bring a drink and sit out there.
If you have time I recommend marina night cruise to see the sights, the city is amazing by night. The hot air balloon at sunrise is amazing we booked with balloon air Dubai.
Ski Dubai is a must if you have children or like to ski
Burj khalifa is a stunning view and give you free tickets to the Aquarium and underwater Zoo.
Dubai was far better than we expected but if we had just stayed at the hotel and not explored my review of Dubai would of been very mediocre.

As a resident of Dubai I have stayed in many hotels all over UAE and I can guarantee this was one of the most horrible staycation experience I had. Not even sure how they got 4 stars for this kind of service.
The staffs at the reception are so unprofessional and rude with zero customer service. I’m sure they are not even trained for their position.
All inclusive hotel !!!! That should be the joke of the year. From the food to beverages and room service everything was awful. Everything is served at a specific timing so if you reach late you get nothing. They don’t even have bottled water and served tap water for drinking.
Room does not have the basic requirements such as shower gels, slippers, bath robs, toothbrushes, conditioner, sanitary kits and more on the list. They don’t even have king beds so if you are a couple they would connect 2 beds for you.
Swimming pools are not temperature controlled which is a very basis requirement for winters in Dubai.
If you loose your wrist band they wont replace it for you. Even if you request them for a new one they reply back rudely and refuse to give you a new one.

Hi all I just been to Dubai Riu for 6 days was apprehensive about staying here for number of reasons.

Food was typical of Riu I stayed at previously everything you need drink were varied and available at all times

Hotel is a 4 Star I’ve been to few on the palm there really isn’t no difference to a 5 star as it is all inclusive it feel more like a 4 star. we all know when you pay Ten pounds per beer the experience feels more premium. The beach is great all water sports are free and weather was great, the sand is good, shells are a slight problem but does not hinder you in any way.

My family is vegan the chef assisted to cater for their needs. Indian food is available as well as all other cuisines Italian European only one restaurant can be booked at moment. The covid issues are managed well, gloves and sanitation is red hot cleaning is non stop in the place.

Finally I heard the reviews on here they are pathetic really not Benidorm at all. Italian Spanish Russian and English represented equally.

The hotel is not full and a lot of staff available at all times check in was also easy.
Taxi are available always outside but are expensive go for meter taxi there 40 per cent cheaper or go for rta taxi as a second option only 4 passengers are allowed due to covid

Finally any question I can help also I requested joint room which I got thanks to Riu I emailed my request.

Take care and stay safe all

My wife, son and I planned a 2 week family relaxing break over Christmas and New Year and had an excellent time. Our stay had to be extended due to a COVID which resulted in us having to be relocated within the hotel to a quarantine room whilst we adhered to Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulations until we could test again and depart.

From the moment that the hotel found out we our situation they were excellent. Compassionate, understanding and helpful, full room service was provided and the staff regularly checked in with us to ensure we were all okay and that we had everything we needed within the room.

Staff were pleasant, loads of availability of food and drinks. We either went to the main restaurant or to the Spice Restaurant (Asian) or the Italian Restaurant. All the food was fresh, hot and a great selection for both adults and children.
There were 3 pools some of which fall into the shade during the afternoon, however this wasn’t an issue for us as we stayed on the beach were there were ample sun loungers. The onsite waterpark was great and all the watersports are included too which we actively used. The mini bar was regularly stocked up which was included in the all inclusive package and the room was cleaned daily. The Double room was ample sized, clean, modern had internet.
The hotel is close to the airport so there is some aircraft noise, however this was not an issue for us at all. The hotel is located on the Deira Island and currently there is not much around the hotel which we were aware of before booking and a government taxi was between 60-100 EAD (£20.00) to get to the Malls or to the Marina. These were available so please bear this in mind if you are booking this hotel.
We ended up having to stay for 18 days and whilst we had a great first 13 days, the last 5 were marred with COVID, however I cannot thank the Hotel Management and Staff enough for all their support during that uncertain period for us as a family. They couldn’t have been any better with us and we wanted for nothing.
If you are looking for a central Dubai hotel this is not for you, however if you are looking for a relaxing family break in Dubai with a good selection of food, various restaurants, pools, a waterpark, watersports with entertainment then I would take a look at this one, yes it out of the way but there is easy access to all the central areas for a taxi fee.

With this hotel, you get what you pay for, good value.
From walking in to the hotel from day one all the staff have been amazing.
They got us checked in early which was lovely and room is big, clean, with soft drinks in mini bar included. Plenty of hangers and a safe, we only had a shower which was a shame as some rooms had both bath & shower, but it was a nice shower with good pressure & no problem with the temperature.
The mini bar was refilled daily.
There’s 4 restaurants Asian, Lebanese, Italian and main buffet all were ok, fairly good selection, my favourite was the Asian as it was smaller.
There are 3 swimming pools, one being heated. All were nice & clean, good sizes, 1 with a swim up bar.
Water sports were free but only had 4 pedalo, 4 paddle boards and 4 kayaks and some arm chairs.
There’s also 4 slides which looked good but I didn’t try.
There was entertainment every night, a singer mostly which was nice.
My biggest concerns for this hotel, although there are lifeguards on the beach, they have no way - other than swimming to get to anyone in trouble in the sea quickly. I watched a water sport guy swim out to help 2 young children on a pedalo, the wind can get up quite quickly & the children found it hard peddling back. This raised my attention to the fact there was no boat or jet ski to help anyone should they get into trouble.
My second concern is the door thresholds in bar and shalmar theatre, I watched so many people tripping over it but nothing was done.
Obviously this hotel is only weeks old so it’s going to have small issues, ie 8 out of 9 days our wardrobe lights wouldn’t turn off fully so at night the bedroom would lite up a little, I did mention on 6 separate occasions, and to the reception manager twice, they didn’t sort out which was a pain. We also had the toilet running/overflowing all night for 2 nights until in end I took the front panel off and turned the water off myself.
A lot of people were moaning about the cost of taxi and not knowing how to get to hotel. If you book an Uber it will be at least 3 x cost of normal taxi, we spotted a normal taxi driver at the hotel & took his phone number, we just called or text each time we wanted to leave the hotel and he was more than happy to oblige. We took a photo of our location incase we needed to get another cab back to the hotel while we were out which made it easier to explain, being a new hotel, many cab drivers are not familiar with it.
If I could improve this hew hotel, I would suggest - the 3 speciality restaurants should be waiter service & close at 11pm, it would enhance the experience. The entertainment should finish at 11pm instead of 10pm. The hotel should offer a shuttle service to the nearest shopping mall, it would be easier for guests to get taxis to further destinations from there.
Overall, we had a great stay, a few teething issues as you would expect with a new hotel but nothing that can’t be easily rectified.
We are actually booked in to go back in august with our kids, I really hope they get these issues sorted.

Having stayed in Riu hotels in Africa and Asia, we were excited when this one opened on our doorstep. We told all our friends that it’s the best hotel chain we’ve ever been to, and booked ourselves a short stay for Spring Break.

What greeted us on arrival was a disaster: an over crowded lobby that clearly exceed COVID-19 restriction numbers and multiple guests not wearing masks. Granted, we arrived early, prior to our check-in time thinking that as the hotel was not allowed to be at 100% capacity, there would be a good chance of getting allocated a room straight away. This was not the case and it appeared that the hotel was in complete disarray. Our friends who have two children were not allocated a room until 7pm. It is difficult to understand why this was the case when the hotel is only legally allowed to operate at 70% capacity.

We went into the lunch buffet as it opened where a member of staff was checking temperatures on entry. However, there was no social distancing being enforced and some guests deemed it acceptable to be pushing in line and brushing up against other guests in doing so. There were no members of management to control this or count how many guests were entering. The tables were as close as 1 metre to each other instead of the 3 metres applicable to restaurants and cafés in Dubai and the crowding at the buffet stations was horrendous even for non-pandemic times. It quite simply did not feel safe. We passed our concerns to a member of staff and made arrangements to eat elsewhere that night.

The next morning we entered the breakfast buffet and walked straight out again. The same chaos was visible with absolutely no measures in place to enforce social distancing, mask wearing or attempt to keep guests safe.

The elevators clearly state that only 2 people are allowed in at a time. However, at one point we saw 11 guests crowd in together. Again, no staff were there to enforce this rule. On one occasion, we were in the elevator ourselves when a guest tried to join us. We politely told her that it was 2 people maximum. She rolled her eyes at us and walked off. She wasn’t even wearing a mask.

As we expect with Riu, the room was lovely and comfortable and the interior design modern. There was no shower gel or other basic supplies like shower cap or cotton buds in the room on arrival. We requested that the shower gel be topped up and this never happened. We also requested clean cups and these never arrived.

The pools and beach are nice with what appear to be plenty of sunbeds in the morning. However, later in the day there are people struggling to find a spot. Again, how is this possible when the hotel is only running at 70% capacity?

The quality of food was poor on the whole but drinks were very good with branded spirits being available at all of the bars which were fully stocked at all times.

Overall, a real disappointment from what is an established and world renowned chain. We would absolutely not recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay, but of course there is room for improvement. We’re a family or 2 adults and two children aged 3 and 1. This is not 24-hour all inclusive and with a young family we did find this hard, as dragging everyone up to a formal dinning room for a sandwich and some fruit is hard work. Afternoon tea would be great, and ice cream machine around the bar area would be a cherry on the top.

We struggled as there was a no drinks policy around the children’s pool, so trying to drag the kids away from the splash zone waterslides for some juice was hard work. I understand no food policy but I can’t see why soft drinks aren’t allowed.

All the life guards around the pools were amazing, they really did watch and guide the children safety. The pools were a little cold, however it didn’t stop the kids. All the children’s entertainment staff really made an effort and lots of activities for the kids to get involved in.

This wasn’t out first time in a Riu hotel and you could see they were still finding their feet, in terms of dinning however I can say that small improvements were being made in the hotel all the time. We stayed from the 15th to 28th December, staff were generally trying their best and we’re all friendly.

We have visited Dubai before we didn’t mind the location of this hotel, taxis aren’t expensive in Dubai, we was happy to book ones when we wanted to leave the hotel.

If your looking for the luxury of the Palm this hotel is not for you. For a break in the sunshine, sit round the pool or just relax on the beach, I would recommend the hotel.

Riu Hotels and Resort. Once again they hit the Top score.

From the General Manager Mr Ghosheh to the cleanning crew. You see them always smiling working greeting and they can't do enough to make sure that you have everything you need.

Breakfast lunch and Dinner where amazing. Mr Philipe the Head waiter always around with a great sense of humor and very aproachable checking on every table and absolutly everybody checking constantly to sanetize each table seat and even after cleaning every plate they used the gel. Wow what a hotel and what a management.

Due to Occupancy bescause of the Civid onlu 1 restaurant was open, although no more needed they always had a great variety and the chef was always ready to help in case of allergies or dietery issues.

The reception staff great even at 2am when we arrived on the first day.

A free shuttelbus at 10am to go to the City Centre mall where you have acces to entire Dubai area by Metro. Fast easy cheap travel. Suggestion take the gold card and travel first class diference is very cheap.
We came late evey night and never paid for than 17AED about 3.5 Pounds by taxi or Uber or Careem.

This hotel has a few water slides for everyone and great free water activities just to have a leazy day by the beach and also a heated pool for the winter time.

The rooms a very big , comfortable ,Ac easy to use and fast.

There is soo much to add so yes I will definatly come back since it is ready for everyone, families with children, sinble, couples and young in heart.

Thank you for making my stay a very memorable one.
